North Vietnam - Military fighter aircraft in that war were designed to be able to take just one hit in the hydraulic system and still be able to fly the aircraft (but not necessarily land it) which caused many pilots to bail out over enemy territory if more than one hydraulic system hit was taken, e.g Navy pilot John McCain ejection. You also have to remember the F14 & F15 both came out at about the same time..... Hughes Aircraft Company (HAC) designed and built the avionics systems and weapons systems, where I met my wife. I love the idea of this aircraft - and although the observability (or lack thereof) comes nowhere near a 22 or a 35, the sheer volume of ordinance these aircraft can handle is a major asset IMO. Use low observability aircraft in conjunction with electronic warfare to suppress enemy air defences, and let the weapons platforms do the damage.
Note that the F35 can carry a lot of ordinance if it doesn’t care about stealth. It too has wing pylons, it’s just not used when it’s required to keep RCS low.
The problem is the Eagle can actually carry just 1500lbs more than the F-35. Obviously we both know that F-35 loses basically all the stealth in that configuration. But so would the F-15. And in our doctrine we already use F-35 + F-15 groups, where F-35 works as an AWACS/C&C, and F-15 is a "bomb/missile truck". So adding stealth to F-15 would change basically nothing in this doctrine. Plus a single unit upgrade would cost 2x the cost of an F-35. The idea was interesting, but the F-22/35 made it obsolete, it's just a whole ton less capability for the same money. But it looks cool af, don't get me wrong.
the thing is that if you have F-22/F-35/B-2/B-21 perform SEAD you don't need a semi-stealthy airframe to do the bomb truck missions afterwards. A regular F-15E will be able to do just fine in uncontested airspace
The Silent Eagle 🦅 was actually F-15E-001 I worked on it when it was brand new and ready for delivery and years later we went to Edwards AFB for a receiving inspection on F-15E-001 then it came back to St. Louis as a flight test bird and a chase plane. It is now located at Davis Monthan AFB Bond Yard 😢 I ran the engines on that plane many times. Always loved the F15 since i was a kid, greatest fighter ever, but rarely battle tested. Yeah F22 would kick its but nowdays, but its held its head above the pack for so so long.
Modifying the X32 by moving the cockpit forward into a extended nose with the air intake behind the canopy, & using as many F35 components from contractors as possible would have been a better approach.
This is already 50 years old. Grandpa fly in it, Dad fly in it, son fly in it. Now give it a new coat of paint, slant the tail very slightly, don't tell you it's new rcs, which is at 20sqm! Gets Gun down every time.
Interesting story. The original F15 design was "Not a Pound for Air to Ground". It was a dedicated fighter platform. Period. But the Israeli's had a need for both a fighter and long range bomber. They converted some of their F15 Baz platforms into a bomb truck configuration when they needed to attack the PLO HQ in Hammam al-Shatt, Tunisia. Once MD understood that not only could they have a state of the art first rate fighter but a bomber also? they submitted their F15E design to go up against the F16 XL and won the competition. Also, the F15 was very much a design of the 70's not 80's
I can't lie, when I first saw the F-15 as a kid, I already concluded that this would be my most favorite aircraft ever, with the F-18 and F-22 coming in HARD second place. Everything from the design, to the armaments, and its kill to death ratio, just making this Jet fighter seem like one of the best fighters ever made, and we have the Russians, to thanks for it(technically the Soviet Union but whatever)
I love the F-15 and I did want to see the the SE fly but deep down I knew it was a really lazy idea. Boeing was trying to pull the classic corner cutting move of take an old plane (that they didn't design) and trying to jam it into the new problem while selling the solution as safe and inexpensive. It's this culture that resulted in the super hornet, the super-duper eagle, the immortal shitty B-52, and the 737 max.
Just saying until the reveal of the NGAD and its production to a reasonable amount we migjt be at a stage where might see the f15bex upgraded to be stealthy since the US plans to use a combination of 5th and 4th gen planes. So the f15 se program might be brought back
There isn't really value in a "stealth" F-15. The most sensible fleet integration would be the F-15EX loaded up with as many AIM-260s as it can carry, while an F-35 that is further ahead marks targets through datalink for the Eagle to launch at.
When your 50 year old platform is so highly capable you just slap some stealth paint on and upgrade the engines because it’s just far more efficient to make the old plane better rather than develop newer ones. F15 Mechachad.
They definitely need to cant those vertical stabilizers vertical ones looks so out of place, and the 15 degree angle cant also ads to lift as well as greatly reduce radar cross section.

50yrs and it still looks great.
The Silent Eagle 🦅 was actually F-15E-001
I worked on it when it was brand new and ready for delivery and years later we went to Edwards AFB for a receiving inspection on F-15E-001 then it came back to
St. Louis as a flight test bird and a chase plane.
It is now located at Davis Monthan AFB Bond Yard 😢
I ran the engines on that plane many times.
She is a great fighter jet she is Joe’s plane. ❤️
Joe was our test pilot in St.Louis and he flew the plane when it was at Edwards AFB also.
Joe is a good man and a great pilot.

Trying to make the f15 a stealth fighter is like putting supressors on a minigun and call it a day
Can you make a video with f18 block 3
Always loved the F15 since i was a kid, greatest fighter ever, but rarely battle tested. Yeah F22 would kick its but nowdays, but its held its head above the pack for so so long.
F15’s and 18’s are my favorite fighters💪🏼
F-16 and F-14 are mine... 💪🏻💪🏻
Another great aircraft.
Modifying the X32 by moving the cockpit forward into a extended nose with the air intake behind the canopy, & using as many F35 components from contractors as possible would have been a better approach.
McDonnell Douglas hit a home run with this plane when they began their design in 1967.
Little did they know, the Mig 25 was like a muscle car, all speed and little handling.
Typical commie junk.
Can't wait for the next video!
If they can make the Rodan stealth, I'll be extremely surprised!
Fantastic scale model in this clip. Where did you get it from?
This is already 50 years old. Grandpa fly in it, Dad fly in it, son fly in it. Now give it a new coat of paint, slant the tail very slightly, don't tell you it's new rcs, which is at 20sqm! Gets Gun down every time.
The f15 carries PODs, theY do not make the F15 invisible, But they do greatly extend the ability to See at great distances.
My favorite fighter made even better! What more could I ask for?
Look out dictator putin
I was at Langley in 1976 when the first F-15As arrived.
I liked the history segment. I was wondering about the f 15
Invisible to radar he says, still has monstrous square intakes
HE'S LIKE I'M ON BUS I HAVE HAIPPERGLOWSEMA HIS MIND STATE OF MIND
F-15 will never die
Interesting story. The original F15 design was "Not a Pound for Air to Ground". It was a dedicated fighter platform. Period. But the Israeli's had a need for both a fighter and long range bomber. They converted some of their F15 Baz platforms into a bomb truck configuration when they needed to attack the PLO HQ in Hammam al-Shatt, Tunisia. Once MD understood that not only could they have a state of the art first rate fighter but a bomber also? they submitted their F15E design to go up against the F16 XL and won the competition. Also, the F15 was very much a design of the 70's not 80's
wow, amazing video ... f15 👍👍
Do the RAM panels increase the maintenance cost of the plane?
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that you can buy about 50 very nice and big houses for the price of one of these toys.
can't wait to see the next one!
I'm firmly convinced that the F-15 will live just as long as the ac-130 and the b-52
Sad part is the A-10 is going to be retired in 2029.
The year is 2073, the latest variant of the F15 rolls off the production line, space is now within it's air superiority domain...
F15EX is so cool 😎
It’s about time babyyyy
a paintjob doesnt make any aircraft stealth when the airfame itself has no stealth characteristics
love this channel ❤
I think this plane can be finally brought back thanks to the enclosed weapons pod being created.
You should do a video on the M1 AGDS
Can you make a Video about the Tornado?
Honestly, they should have made this model for full production
Hey! That's the G1 Starscream!
Step 1. Take something good
Step 2. Make it even BETTER
I hate that they gave up on this beautiful jet...
Just saying until the reveal of the NGAD and its production to a reasonable amount we migjt be at a stage where might see the f15bex upgraded to be stealthy since the US plans to use a combination of 5th and 4th gen planes. So the f15 se program might be brought back
Nah, the EX will only be produced in a 80-something run. Enough for a stopgap, too few for expensive upgrades.
F15EX with Canted tails, 3D TV, and Canards when?
There isn't really value in a "stealth" F-15. The most sensible fleet integration would be the F-15EX loaded up with as many AIM-260s as it can carry, while an F-35 that is further ahead marks targets through datalink for the Eagle to launch at.
Nice vids keep it up ❤
All that is great, but why didn't Boeing install thrust vectoring?
You should probably link your so-called second channel in featured channels section… it would make it a lot easier to get to it
When your 50 year old platform is so highly capable you just slap some stealth paint on and upgrade the engines because it’s just far more efficient to make the old plane better rather than develop newer ones.
F15 Mechachad.
They definitely need to cant those vertical stabilizers vertical ones looks so out of place, and the 15 degree angle cant also ads to lift as well as greatly reduce radar cross section.
