Can you spell out what the special japanese bonsai cutters are called? I struggle sometimes auditory processing. I keep hearing Gin tools, and am not sure that is right.
kitchen cutlery isnt typically make of pure stainless steel. its usually coated alloys that are pretty weak. stainless steel is actually quite strong and notoriously difficult to sharpen due to its hardness. its not quite as hard as hardened carbon steel but its not far off. theres nothing wrong with good quality stainless tools. theyll need to be sharpened before carbon steel tools but they also need far less maintenance. Ive seen quite a few high level bonsai professionals using higher quality stainless steel tools, including peter chan.

Thank you
Where do you buy that Tungsten Carbide Sharpener? Thanks.
scooterbees57 you should be able to find it at most hardware stores or online. It's very common and should be less than $10
Very, very helpful. Than you!!!
Can you use WD40?
Yeah, but not ideal. If you're fancy, tsubaki oil. If you're practical, mineral oil. These are ideal.
Thanks but the title of your vid is "'How do you Clean Bonsai tools" 0:00 - 06:43 though informative, was superfluous.
