People who choke during the final round should not get rewarded. Thats what made tiger, brady, and jordan great. They came in clutch when it mattered

One thing not mentioned in this video to support the argument for Calvin Heimburg; he’s my favorite player.
Calvin is the winner. He leads in overall points and the stats make it clear that he is head over heels better than the rest this year.
Calvin dominated in performance. His season was insane.
This was an excellent framing of the debate. Calvin's statistics are amazing, but 2 majors is incredible in a season with so much competition at the top. The case one would have to make against Calvin seems like it would have to be totally biased, though: "Other than the two tourneys he won, he couldn't finish! He just kept getting 2nd or 3rd!" IR is my favorite player to watch, but come on. It's the Burgermeister.
Hands down Calvin has been the most consistent all year, and he always goes big or bust.
The only one I watch more than Calvin is Rick but saint vincent is an all-around silent assassin and a crowd favorite here at the Portland open.

Oh, DGPT = PDGA, happens sry, up late... still isn't whats below this first paragraph true it needs to change. If you want to win something you should know how to win, is it the total points, results at Majors, podiums and so on +/- votes? Will always be debated but without a set goal the other side is half in the right... A popularity votes are fun but thats another reward.
...but there is a points system in place at the start of every season? Points are counted a winner is made by results... This is at best the "peoples opinion when half the season is forgotten?

I like all three of these guys. But, in every other individual professional sport, it’s the wins that usually determine who is best in a particular season, and some wins carry more weight than others. If I was a voter, Isaac would have my nod.
I’d rather have the wins than the stats. It’s a Jordan/LeBron kind of debate.

There shouldn't be a Player of the Year award without concrete and clear stipulations on what will qualify one for the title. Otherwise, you are just setting yourself up for controversy and hard feelings. Maybe go with the only unquestionable and inarguable metric? Tour winnings. Total prize money on the season. Majors are worth more than A-tier events so it rewards major wins. It also rewards consistency across the entire schedule. Who won the most money this year? That's your winner.

Calvin is my vote.All the talk of the 2023 season was "its the hardest field of competition weve ever seen" and Calvin was best against that field.

It’s really only between 2 people, Calvin and Isaac. Then it just goes to how do you define player of the year and there is your answer. I know Calvin would trade for the season Isaac had 10/10 times. If Isaac doesn’t win it this year, I’ll be betting that he will win it next year.

This shouldn't be that complicated!
Tour points are the easiest metric for measuring consistency and overall success/performance throughout the year. Big events = more points, so if you shine at events like Worlds or USDGC, then you're rewarded. You only shine at a bunch of A and Silver series, but bomb at the Elites/Majors, you won't have many points to show for it. Calvin has clearly shined all year at most all events. Isaac also had a great season, but less points = lesser overall performance as indicated by the points compared to Calvin. Yes, he won 2 majors and was rewarded with a lot of points for those, but lacked the rest of the season in comparison.
Rather than picking who the winner should be... I would say it would feel more wrong if Calvin wasn't named POTY than if Isaac wasn't. Maybe that's our answer?🤷♂
Also, player rating should come into play here. Calvin has the highest at 1052, which is 11 higher than Isaac. 11 is HUGE at this level of play. Again, this points towards the consistency and being the "best OVERALL performing player of the year"✌🧝🥏🌲
