Imagine being able to physically explore one's own dream, eventually exploring too deep and finding something traumatic enough to turn it into a nightmare.
( very interesting entity in this btw. At first glance the design isn't that interesting, but the thing that sets it apart is how it becomes invisible... or it's just not a physical entity. Rewatching this, it could be anywhere. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be hostile, just protective. )

Great job man, this video really gave me the creeps. The way the lights flickered at the playground, and the creepy laughter of the kids, even just the ambience set an uneasy feeling inside of me. the entity also was really creepy, as a tall slenderman type figure that attacked us. you did a great job on this one. This one was really great, I loved all of the level designs and the journey. The only question I have is whether the ending screens are necessary. I feel like just letting the footage speak for itself might be best, because it makes the whole thing feel more "raw" and thus more real. The ending screen reminds me that I've just watched a production that was intentionally spooky, rather than some "leaked" footage that happened to be spooky, ya know?

Also, this constant search for a convenient portal. But every door and slide suggests a way out that will not materialize. The kids sound like they are never leaving, and their giggling is anxious. The tall thing drags you back "home," where there are toys in chests, where the green trimmed walls do not go on forever but seem impossible to escape..
Opening the door into the same curfew cut the streetlights, at the eternal stroke of not quite midnight. This place is designed around the notion of being brought home after dark, when the day is over, and to not go out because the lights are always just being shut down, and you'll be tracked down and brought home by the longest shadows.

Level 18 is a level of the backrooms that portrays childhood memories from when someone was younger then 10 years old.
Childhood memories of nostalgia particularly for 80s (mostly late 80s), 90s (all of the 90s, entirety) and early 2000s (early 2000s only) babies and kids have this uneasy nostalgia in most if not all American states. The liminal space theory holds some truth. The Backrooms is more a coping mechanism I think at this point for us from those 3 eras.
Funny you say coping mechanism. I was born in the mid nineties and after watching all of this backroom content for about a year and a half now I've been getting this strong sense of familiarity. I recently realized that it's because I used to have dreams as a kid about being lost in these "liminal" type of spaces. Far from what we're seeing now with all these videos but close enough to make me remember. Maybe it is ingrained in our generation to fear this exact thing? Who knows but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it and looked forward to the future of this creepypasta.
@@StarSpawn first of all good morning. secondly. early 90s here but you and I fall in the same 90s council and I feel nearly the precise way except ifs a little bit different for me because I was born and raised in the only tropical American state so the eerie nostalgia is oddly specific in my case but your general assessment is on point about the dreams too.
This is too good. You nailed everything; the atmosphere, the storytelling, the pacing, sound design. I can't imagine how much work this must have taken. The amount of detail is fantastic! It's a hassle for me to even do a 1 min video - You're always knocking it out of the park!

i wish the slide took us somewhere bright and sunny and then we walked through a door and ended up back on the creepy playground via that door near the end of the video. after all the quick transitions at the beginning it would have added to the chaos

2:11 Wow, this is already the best 'Backroom' video I've seen so far! Flickering lights, scary sounds. While I like how these are 'minimalist' (meant to use cinematography & suspense to build scares)...but this one 'shows' more actual frights too...& I LOVE that!

Ok.. I've watched this like 7 times... This is seriously one of the darkest videos I've ever seen. Not only in the backrooms genre, but in the category of horror videos period. The unknowing and constant but distant howling/ambient sounds couldn't be much better.. I'm having a hard time explaining to you how perfectly executed this video is. It completely reminds me of a dream I had when I was younger.. like I'm talking 4th kind shit where different people unknowing of each other have the same dream.. What does the "X" on the ground represent? Did sliding through the slide trigger an event? Kinda reminds me of Alan Wake game too.. Please do more of these. Holy shit man. Well done!

Very good soundtrack - the sound FX was spot-on. I'm just not keen on jumpscares. For me, this video is at its best when what is heard is not seen - this frees the imagination to conjure evils of its own. Still, a very good film. I always think less is definitely more in The Backrooms.

Best video, Remembering your childhood memories is reality. The slide was really scary to me in the backrooms because some are safe some are not safe. Those kids laughing was really scary at first then I got the hang of it, The lights flickering was scary! The dark figure entity was super tall and scary and I heard like a radio and I got so scared that I closed my eyes plus the door scared me kinda but those upside down slides got me the creeps Best video! Pretty nice atmosphere. I appreciate that the entity here, tho scary, is ultimately helpful for the protagonist. I also enjoyed how the protagonist was searching for a conventional `prtal as a way out, but that wasnt the exit. I hope you could have made the entity graphically better, because it stood out as a bit unpolished
