I don't see how he got Penny killed at all. As for Phyrra, even though she was in that situation because Ozpin told her the truth about things, made her own decision to go and fight Cinder. If she had managed to win would you have given Ozpin credit for that?

You know, I find funny everyone seems to focus/make fun of that first part, yet they completely seem to gloss over how Salem ALSO hide critical info from Ozpin by not telling him the truth about what she did :O

Usually I like all the jokes but Ozma taking the children was heavily coded like someone escaping from an abusive situation, and dismissing it as him being a child thief is heavily reminiscent of all the times people don't believe there was abuse just because the woman abused the man.

Shakiel Taylor Unfortunately yes, since our public view of men are that they’re strong and tough people tend to view them as people you wouldn’t expect to be abused, add to that people usually see women as victims and more pure than men and if they have any public problems the men obviously did something to deserve it and if vice versa happens people will think the man is abusing the women. Unfortunately these ideas have been interwoven in our society for various reasons.

@@lilowhitney8614 why not? Salem and Ozma would be holy warring the entire world, at might the might of the first gens couple, it's not far fetched to assume they'd succeed in conquering it. And if someone found it in such a world, it would be found in the process of taking over the world or offered to them. And what then? Either Ozma shuts up about it or reveals them, but since by this point he'd be so deep in it he wouldn't exactly attempt to run anymore. So no matter what, the Relics are brought together. And what would misters gods say when they see humanity united but not through understading, but by conquering. I'm guessing another genocide on their hands, with no 3rd chance this time around, and Ozma's dead or punished like Salem, but separated
@@floricel_112 Assuming Ozpim doesn't cut and run before then (which is a *big* assumption, considering everything we know about his personality and that telling Salem about the relics actually didn't influemce Salem's reaction in any way), and ignoring the multiple other baseless assumptions, it would still be better then what happened in canon.
Salem eventually learns about the relics? Then there were several centuries and a lot of generations in which she didn't hunt for them. Not to mention that she would have incomplete information and won't know that bringing them all together would summon the gods and potentially wipe out humanity.
Or are you saying giving her a headstart is better?
@@lilowhitney8614 Or you know never unifying humanity, as humanity would forever be in a state of turmoil. Salem methods don't work and history shows us this. So yes, Salem's head start would be a better alternative than constant state of warfare thought would've been brought forth by salem. Psychology and history teaches us, trade and communication unifies countries and minimizes conflict not war and bloodshed.

Like I said one of the constants in RWBY is that Poor Communication Kills
How much you want to bet that deep inside as much as Jaune blames Ozpin for giving Phyrha the Ultimatum and as much as he blames Cinder for killing Phyrra (as well as Salem’s group probably) he deep down blames himself, because he feels like he should have known the right thing to say. Even though logically there was no way he COULD have known the right thing to say. He was just a kid caught up in events beyonds his control, who tried to do the best he could but in the end it wasn’t good enough. That’s the real tragedy of that moment really.
Megashadowdragon on Tumblr called Salem’s Jaune’s evil counterpart, and with the previously mentioned moment. (If I read it correctly, and said stuff eventually comes out in the script) I can really see it. Salem suffered a normal everyday tragedy (at first) and blamed the unfairness of the world (before ACTUALLY going on to suffer at the hands of the gods) Jaune was ACTUALLY caught up in the manipulation of forced greater then himself, yet the one he DEEP DOWN blames the most is himself, because he feels he should have been able to do something. Even though he probably knows that on a perfectly logical level that he wouldn’t be capable of doing anything.

Be sure to the part about the Gods essentialy reopening her wounds by REKILLING her lover two or three times right in front of what is a grieving widow. I mean true it doesn’t excuse her actions, but gods could NOT have handled that situation any worse if they tried.
I kind of understand that line from Die now. “Not every open wound is simply healed by time.” It’s hard to heal an open wound when you keep getting it yanked open again and again.

Also to be fair, with Salem corrupted there's no garentee things could've ended up differently even if Oz was upfront from the beginning
I'd also like to point out that while Oz did eventually tell the whole truth, not only did it fail to sway Salem either way, not only was withholding the information not the cause of the breakup (Oz trying to run away with the kids did that) but Salem herself never told Oz the whole story.
Oz was the only truthful person in the relationship and look where it got him. That and a few MILLENNIA of being back stabbed and I think it's reasonable that he develops a lying habit.

No that wouldn't work. According to the maiden's story, the wizard gave the maidens magic. And ozma's kids were born with magic. You can't give magic to someone that already has it.
@@dustinvance243 I think it's possible that instead of giving them the magic what he gave them instead was the ability to pass on their magic even after they die so that way they can help world even after they're gone. It's also possible that the story is just that a story that someone made based off the actual events that could have been different.

Salem literally never had formal education.
You know if the maiden powers came from the 4 daughters it would make sense how Ruby could hurt cinder before she was became part Grim, since their mother would be Salem the devil lord of grim. Maybe Cinder is Salem' s daughter or a Grim shaped human she made.
If beacon is a high school and Ruby got in Beacon 2 years early, Ruby is actually 13 or 14......
She was 15 at the start of V1, and 16 at the start of V4.
Beacon isn't a high school. Most people are 17 when they start--as were WBY and JNPR. Ruby is 2 years younger than Yang and was let in early at age 15.
Like Crumbling Cube said, she was 16 at the start of V4 and the rest were 18 at that point. Since Ruby's birthday is October 31, and the Battle of Haven a couple weeks ago was at the end of summer/beginning of fall, that means Ruby's 17th birthday is coming up soon!
Joshua Choy It's actually more like college you've got regular school and then you've got huntsman school think of it similar to the system in my hero academia Signal is like UA High while Beacon and the other 3 schools are collage still focused on the same subject the high-school was. Ruby was 15 at the start of the show now she's 16 and the others started at 17 and are now 18 meaning yes all but 1 member of team RWBY is of legal age do with that as you will-_-

For real though, I think Some people give too much Sympathy to Salem. Ozma TRIED to reach out to her and offered her a chance to change and she rejected it.
He only left with the kids once it became clear she was never going to change. And wether or not she intended for the fight to kill there kids, she didn't care about there deaths afterward.
Salems story is tragic, yes but she brought everything on herself and has been given MANY chances to end her suffering if she stops being evil yet refused Out of spite. By the present day She threw every redeeming quality she had down the drain in order to continue shirking the blame for what happned to her.
Yup that's the true tragedy, someone who can't ever take personal responsibility and deluded herself into such unhappiness.

Am I the only one who things those four little girls are the first four Maidens?!!???!!! Seriously the power of the maidens to to big to be Create even by Ozma! It’s more likely the maidens are somehow the power of their daughters passing every generation.
That or actually they survive and will appear in the next volumes. They maybe are the ancestors of some character (Ruby and Jaune). They didn’t create them to appear only in a flashback!
Does anyone else find it interesting that When Oz first runs into Salem in this video she has basically shut herself up in the woods and is eschewing human contact? While’s it’s not exactly healthy, it’s a far cry from her later behavior. Maybe I am reading too much into but I get the feeling that at this point in her life Salem is someone who has lost everything she had (admittedly through her own mistakes) and just wants to be left alone. And while Oz coming back to life first SEEMS like a ray of hope, what it ACTUALLY is it the REOPENING of old wounds.
