I remember walking through the weird magic pagoda up on the hill by the tower. Also remember riding the odd dragon cars up the west side of the hill. You can still see some of the dragon cars track near the end of ninja!

I love seeing actual visitor 8mm movie experiences during the 60's and 70's at these great amusement parks. I was too young to remember the 70's but have had a lifelong fascination and study with the decade. Judging by the style of clothing, this looks to be circa 1971-72. Thank you for posting this!

thanks for this. I used to go when I was a kid in the 70s/80s and there is so little footage of this period.
Plus it is also amazing how much they changed it, and how they cramed rides into every possibly location

I'm looking to do a history of Magic Mountain, would you mind if I used some of this footage? Full credit given and a link back to the video, of course.

Magic Mountain, Knott’s Berry Farm, the koi pond and seals looked like Sea World, but it could have been the old Japanese Deer Park in Buena Park. Lion Country Safari at the end.

First time ever at Magic Mountain was in 1975. I was 7 going on 8 I remember being barely tall enough to go in some of the bigger rides like Swiss Twist later known as Sierra Twist and another ride called Himalaya and a Roller Coaster called Mountain Express. My sister was a year younger and not tall enough but she could ride the kiddie rides like the motorcycle ride, and flying airplane ride. It’s funny I don’t remember Galaxy that Ferris wheel thing. Maybe because I didn’t like Ferris wheels. Funny I liked roller coasters but not Ferris wheels because of the height. Anyway that was before Revolution or Colossus. I remember Gold Rusher and I was thinking, Magic Mountain had “bigger” rides than Disneyland. Although up until them Matterhorn was my all time favorite ride.

Too cool! I just watched National Lampoon's Vacation, and their visit to WallyWorld. Magic Mountain the actual location and it was fun to see your film. I remember visiting Lion Country in 5th grade. Nowadays, I occasionally eat lunch at the Burger King aross the street from where it used to be!

Mark T oh yeah everyone in America is obese now, i just need a time machine to go to these days, and it would work with me being the same age as i am now, so I could see how to old Magic Mountain used to look like.
