  • in this video I update you viewers of what I've done on the 30's fan (formerly the 40s fan) I also reveal that I discovered it's highly likely that this fan is from the 30s, as opposed to the 40s, which is what I previously thought.

I watched the video , good video on this . Very Important information (: when the windings on the armature are loose that means the insulting seal has deteriorated from years of use , if the this is not taken care pf properly this can lead to a short out , so I wouldn't run the fan anymore until you can varnish to windings.. El600 spraylon varnish electrical seal would be the best alternative , this should be in stock in a local store , particularly Lowes or Home Depot and is also available on ebay or amazon . This should help.

If I'm honest, I'm not completely sure what you mean. If you're talking about the insulating paint which was applied to the windings from the factory, then I don't believe there will be a problem with my set of windings. The reason I don't believe there will be a problem is because the factory reddish non-conductive pain is still in excellent condition. As a matter of fact, while I was testing the resistance on the windings, i was having a lot of difficulty because my test leads couldn't scrape the paint off. I'm sure it would be best to apply the products you mentioned to the windings, but for now i have full confidence in this motor. Also, the reason the winding had broken in the first place was due to my own stupidity. I had to take apart and put back together the motor assembly so many times (due to faulty soldering joints, stripped studs, armature shims, etc.) and each time the lead off the windings kept having to wiggle and of course it finally failed. I should have seen it coming when it happened, but I didn't. Thank you for the suggestion though. Oh yeah, and my last reason I don't plan to varnish the windings is because this fan sees almost no use whatsoever. I'm glad you found that this video was good.

@@JuniorBearTelevision No problem. Sorry I hope this doesn't confusing to you .. But what I meant was after years of use of the fan the insulting paint will start to deteriorate from getting hot and cold , as I was watching the video you mentioned that you had several issues with armature , there appeared to be play with the windings and I wire broke . But you did fix the problem.

Thanks. One of the things i failed to mention in the video was i took some emery cloth to the armature to clean it up. This significantly reduced the marks from arcs and has improved power. As you're well aware, i'm no expert at fans, and in the industry I'm employed in we usually replace parts rather than repair them, so I'm still learning. Thanks again, I really do appreciate your advice.
