the reason why palpatine chose to rule via fear is cause he never saw the empire as an everlasting empire that would stay in power for generations or envisioned it as something that would bring prosperity to the galaxy. the empire was nothing but a means to an end for him to achieve ultimate power

@@CriticalAnalysisHub Actually Palpatine won. Lets talk about everything Palpatine actually achieved. He allowed the Galaxy to split apart. He destroyed the republic, Confederacy, he destabilized all banks, he destroyed the Jedi, he found and used all dark side users until they were all wiped out, he killed all the Jedi, and blatantly all force users, he created the Rebel Alliance to stop the Empire, he destroyed all gangs and pirates in the galaxy, he allowed the rebel alliance to kill him so he could use the Sith form of Force Ghost powers which is Force Possession in which he took over bodies in order to create a vessel for him to take over that he can control (Rey), he destroyed all light side and Dark side ghosts, he destroyed all planets that had the ability to rule or bring any stabilization to the galaxy, hell in Return of the Jedi he blatantly gave the Rebel alliance the ship with the codes and allowed that ship that he knew had the rebel alliance on it to complete their mission of destroying the second death star, he blatantly wiped out the Wookies, and he created and destroyed the Resistance and the first order and the new built empire and the new republic and every planet that had power at all. Hell originally Ilum was the planet that the Jedi originated on. Exegol was the planet that the Sith originated on. Ilum and Exegol had a stationary orbit around the planet Tatooine until the Jedi teleported Ilum away to try and destroy the Sith so the Sith teleported Exegol away. Tatooine is the last planet of the true force and the only place that has what is called true force crystals. You see Rey throwing the Jedi and Sith Lightsabers into the ground and then getting an orange or yellowish or goldish lightsaber out well that is a true lightsaber that Palpatine in Rey's body created by combining the power of the Sith and Jedi to create a Bendu lightsaber because Palpatine mastered not just the powers of the Sith but also the Powers of the Jedi. Palpatine mastered the Force itself in such a way that not only is he now basically the only person with powers of the force but he destroyed all militaries around the entire galaxy and hell look at who actually went to face him on Exegol. Those were random no bodies with the crappiest of ships and yet that was blatantly the only armed forces in the galaxy left. Those ships were hunks of jump and well in order to destroy anything they actually had to bring a horse into space and throw spears to take down a Star Destroyer. When you are so out of choices that you have to resort to throwing a pointy stick at a space war ship yea you kind of have run out of options a long ass time ago. Palpatine allowed those super ships to be destroyed because in truth they could pose a threat. Palpatine destroyed a shit ton of planets and he blatantly destabilized the entire galaxy and he blatantly destroyed all money in the galaxy and all militaries. Also not over 2000 ships came to destroy the star destroyers and only about 5 were successful in making it to hyper space to leave Exegol that imploded completely destroying everything. To put it bluntly there are no governments left in the Galaxy and only 5 legit ships which Palpatine controls 1 and the others are absolute garbage. Palpatine straight up destroyed the galaxy. Lets be honest. Think about this how many planets are left that have any ability to actually have some kind of rule at all? Tatooine and that is about it and lets be honest Tatooine is not a center of the galaxy planet nor a legit planet you even want to go near and yet its basically the only planet that has any ability of being a planet with a leadership role in the galaxy which is not good at all. If you are relying upon Tatooine being the next capital of the galaxy then the galaxy is fucked. Palpatine is the only being in the galaxy with a lightsaber. Palpatine is the only real force user left. There are no militaries and no armies in the entire galaxy. There is no one that can oppose him at all. Palpatine has secret hidden bases that he only knows about and he is now blatantly immortal. Palpatine straight up achieved immortality and there is no one that can even slightly fight against him at all. He blatantly won. Palpatine didn't just achieve the goal of ultimate power he surpassed it so massively there is nothing that can oppose him at all potentially ever.

Even the most oppressive regimes in history knew who to keep happy. The Roman Empire was no less brutal, but even those Emperors knew their power depended on paying their soldiers handsomely and giving "bread and circuses" to the masses. But the only person who really prospered in the Galactic Empire was the Emperor himself. The more you climbed its social ladder, the worse off you were. As it would put you within Vader and the Sidious's radar, which most likely meant that your days were numbered unless you never made a single mistake in your career. And even then you could still get blamed if something completely out of your own control happened under your watch. This system can only foster cowardice and indecisiveness among your staff. They'd be terrified to make any bold moves and risk failure, where they would meet the same fate as their predecessor. And solidarity becomes impossible as well as everyone will be quick to blame and scapegoat each other to avoid punishment.

I like the fall of the Galactic Empire in the Expanded Universe Star Wars canon far better then the Disney star wars canon.
It lasted much longer and had a far more extended series of conflicts that the Rebel Alliance soon to become the New Republic with Luke Skywalker and the varies military leaders leading the campaign to reclaim Coruscant. The Galactic Empire didn't fall within one year like Disney likes to portray it took nearly a decade for it as a whole to fall completely and the Warlords and Moffs didn't capitulate so easily despite the infighting and even Luke Skywalker still faced challenges with the other Sith and Dark Side factions. Even Mara Jade didn't make it collapse instantly when she defected.
I will forever see that as the true events of Star Wars and I will not disown it.

My thoughts exactly. The original Expanded Universe had a far more nuanced way of seeing the Galaxy, and I liked that added complexity. With a few exceptions like Rogue One and Andor, Disney SW is like an old 80s 30 minute toy commercial cartoon in comparison.

I would call Disney worse then that. As the most stale and obnoxious when it comes to storytelling and worldbuilding and how develop heroes. I will never respect what they did to the EU characters and especially when they did to the old generation of heroes.
I don't even care about Rouge One and Andor since they ruined everything else and those two titles are hardly worth the effort to defend.

The Empire's main flaw *was* Palpatine -- how it set it up to be basically an instrument of his will, and his alone. Even in Legends, without that Operation: Cinder stupidity that honestly sounds like the plot of a Saturday morning cartoon villain, the Empire couldn't hold itself together after his death *because* it took so long to evolve past the Sith-inspired policies it ran on. Now if the Empire had a leader like Thrawn from the beginning, who actually cared and inspired *true* loyalty, then it could have got somewhere.
Eventually, it did become something better, with the human-centric and more dictorial aspects slowly phased out under Grand Admiral Pellaeon. It does say something that the Imperial Remnant was the one to finally extend the olive branch to the Rebels, *not* the other way around. But by that point, the Empire's main strength, its military might, was depleted to the point that the Yuuzhan Vong just waltzed right into the Galaxy like they owned the place.

  • @ErikratKhandnalie
    @ErikratKhandnalie 11 днів тому +7

Another comment touched on this, but I think this is all nearly explained by the fact that the Empire was never about stability or order, or anything of the sort - it was about Palpatine dominating the galaxy. If you have to listen to the whims and wants of your constituents, then you don't *really* have power, because there exists some manner of obligation from you to them. Having to care at all about his citizen's desires defeats the entire point of the whole thing.
The Empire focuses on maintaining political power through fear, because power through fear is the only kind of power that Palpatine recognizes as legitimate.

If you watch Star Wars Rebels, I have even seen Governor Tarkin was as incompetent at leadership of the Outer Rim as Mugabe was at governing Zimbabwe. They even had the same failed policies of farm redistribution. Too many people also ignore the fact that the empire seems to be inspired off of dictatorial regimes from the NSDAP in 1930s Germany, to communist regimes like the USSR, and Napoleon's empire. All of them fell rather quickly.

If the Empire REALLY wanted to continue ruling through fear, they should have invested in more military academies and factories instead of the Death Star. It would improve the average competence of their rank-and-file Stormtroopers, grant them better weapons and armor, and provide jobs for the planets they were built on. Furthermore, this kind of focus in war readiness and peacekeeping would slowly build up a warrior culture throughout the years, giving the populance new traditions and reasons to remain loyal to the Empire.

Wrong storm trooper armor could take 3 direct hits before failure unless you were using blasters that are specifically designed penetrate armor or are just really powerful even then the trooper would only get knocked out not killed if you wanted to kill them you had to double tap also they were completely immune to stun shots. And I’m probably gonna have to correct people on this one till I die of old age but stormtroopers being so inaccurate they can’t hit the broadside of a star destroyer 2 feet in front of them is something that was only made canon by Disney in, every legends, comic book video game etc they are stupidly accurate they’re so accurate that the Senate once call them inhumanly accurate a storm trooper hits 9 out of 10 shots and that’s just the standard ones more elite soldiers like death troopers hit 99 out of 100 shots and the scout troopers or imperial sharp shooters when they actually use their sniper rifles They only miss 1 in 1000 shots and that’s if they we’re having an off day
Also, the rebellion didn’t win with outdated ships most of the ships that the rebellion used like the XWing and Awing were ships that the empire turned down because it was cheaper and quicker to produce tie fighters instead
TLDR: the rebellion had better ships the empire had better soldiers and weaponry
The clones were better quality. The droids were better quantity storm troopers were the best of both which is what made them the best army in the galaxy
