This show was so gloriously over the top and fantastic. It really was some kind of weird mashup of soap opera, Shakespearean play and gritty biker story. It's just so great.
I happened to walk into the room while my husband was watching this scene (I hadn't watched the show with him at all because he told me it was violent)...and just seeing this one scene, I was hooked. Had to start watching it from the beginning and it became an obsession!
What got me the most? At 2:27, look at the man over Clay's shoulder. It is John Teller, Jax's Dad. The ghost of John Teller was haunting Clay that day, no doubt.
Not only is John’s ghost at the funeral but the woman in the cemetery that Jackson gives the blanket to is the ghost of the woman killed when John wrecks his bike . She appears to both Jacks and Gimma throughout the series and you meet her husband and daughter in season 7 when the daughter throws a brick into the Ice cream shop. Sitter was good at placing things right in the open that you over look. Super show.

My theory: this is the episode where the homeless woman reveals herself to be the ghost of John Teller. The rift between Jax and Clay is beginning to deepen because Jax has discovered John Teller's writings and Jax believes Clay is responsible for Donna's death. Clay and Jax fight; Jax gets drunk. Jax has slept in and awakens in the doorway of a mausoleum with the name PATMOS above it. Biblical scholars believe the island of Patmos is where the biblical John wrote the Book of Revelations. (Jax is reading is father John's Book of Revelations in the form of the SAMCRO book). Jax encounters the homeless woman for the first time. She's wearing Jax's jacket and she gives Jax the blanket that he later uses to cover himself before he kills August Marks in the final episode (the protection from his father). The homeless woman tells Jax where to find water to clean himself. The scene where Jax washes his hands is almost like he is baptizing himself; similar to how in some religions the hands and face is cleansed before prayer. The name of the episode is "The Revelator". Jax has not only seen his father John "revealed" through his writings , but also John Teller's spirit is "revealed" to Jax in the form of the homeless woman. Just a thought. Anyway, SOA is one of my favorite TV shows of all time, along with The Shield and Breaking Bad. I can't rate one higher than the other---they ALL are my favorites AND the best shows ever televised!!!

It's Brooke Putner's deceased mother Emily. In one scene Jax looks at her photo when he visits Brooke's father's home after she smashed their bikes. I believe Jax even mentioned that she looked familiar. That's because he had been seeing her as a homeless woman. She was an apparition..
