Habits: 1. Have good small talk (1:38) - Small talk is useful not only to start up a conversation but can lead to topics for the conversation and gauges the atmosphere. (It can also buy some time). 2. Talk to yourself (2:33)- If you can't approach yourself, you're not going to be able to do much with anyone else. So practice talking to yourself, play through different scenarios to improve your responses if not debate with yourself about whats on your mind. (Use a mirror if needed). 3. Smile (3:30) - How we express ourselves impacts our feelings and smiling can not only make us feel happier but others as well. So when you smile it not only tells others your happy but also create an atmosphere of happiness and openness. (Of course a sincere smile is more meaningful than a smile for nothing). 4. Involve others (4:42) - When trying to connect with people or engage them, it can be effective to involve them in a conversation, project, or any activity you know they will enjoy if not contribute to. (if they don't contribute or aren't comfortable with the others, they're not really involved) Of course not everyone wants to be involved with something or be disturbed. 5. Go to places to meet people (5:58) - The more you go to a particular place, the more likely you are to strike a conversation with the regulars there as well as those looking around. This is how we tend to develop relationships with our colleagues at work, but also how we can grow our friendships. (Of course there comes the price of messing up something so badly that you can't bring yourself to go to the place because of the people there, but such is life). 6. Ask for something (7:08) - Asking about something is the easiest way to start a conversation, gives a chance you'll learn something new, and maybe even grow that connection further. This of course isn't limited to just asking for advice or "what are you doing" since asking is the first thing we do for everything. 7. Invite someone Out ( 8:22) - This is like putting your foot in the door to talk with others, but takes being trusted and comfortable around for them to agree. 8. Say hi to one person a day (9:28) - Whether it's your friends, colleagues, or someone new, it can help to improve your confidence if not lead to a new relationship. (Some might be shy or scared to, but that's why you should try it). 9. Look good (11:15) - You won't always look good, but take the time to clean yourself up if not invest in looking good and smelling great. It will not only help in social situations, it will also show how much you care about the person or place you are going to and can boost your confidence. 10. Social Moderation (12:21) - While you might be trying to be more social, its important to know when to limit yourself so that your not overly social. This can make other people uncomfortable if not yourself. Hope these tips helped people hone their social skills.
This doesn't seem like just a UA-cam channels for tips, it feels like a family, a class room where our fun teach Jessica is talking to us and we are enjoying it 😁😁
If God told me to unsubscribe from all other u tube channels and stay tuned in just one then I can't mention any other channel than this one...shout out miss Jessica for this outstanding articulation that lightens our minds dear
This topic is very important, and I pray it spreads across - especially these days when social media is distracting us. Your content and background has always been 💯👌...soar higher 🙌❤️
I started talking to myself lately practicing in front of the mirror sometimes I do that when I am reading my affirmations to myself 🥰❤️🥰❤️ smile indeed
Oh my God! This lady deserves millions of views. She typifies intelligence. She exemplifies sui generis She exudes likability with her exceptional ascriptions. God will continue to expand the expression of your giftings in tremendous ways! What a coach par excellence. Much love from Nigeria.
You need to take a ride in the London underground or bus. Its almost an offence to look anyone in the eye or say hi. Its like people go there to test how good they are at snobbing others.
Hi, watching from Australia. First time on your channel. I love your content. You are very exceptional. I love your diction. Please continue to be who you are. Your confidence and professionalism is unique. I am not surprised that you are a professional broadcaster for many years. It shows in your delivery and touch. I am an African, you made me so proud that such content is coming out of Africa. I clicked the like buttons on all of your videos that I have watched. Even all the ones I have not watched, I quickly browsed through and clicked the like buttons, so as to encourage you. Australia has one of the highest CPM, I want you to make a lot of money from this. This is my own way of supporting Africans. I will find time to watch all your videos. Kudos!
@@JessicaOS Your work is just amazing and as a french native speaker, i'm able to understand without even using subtitles..Your Speech, the diction ,the pace, the topics that you cover ...Keep it up
Joining a club, especially one which meets fortnightly or monthly, is also a good way to meet people and increase confidence e.g. Toastmasters; a political party; or a church. You'll get to see the same people on a regular basis, and the more you keep going the more your confidence will grow. A community learning center is another.
I'm a new subscriber to this channel. I must confess I have never met such an eloquent and articulate female UA-camr as you. Thanks madam for bringing out so much value.
Thanks a million for sharing, Jess! The 9th point hit the spot so hard, ain't no joke. There's a whole new vibe of confidence when I wear Tom Ford Black Orchid before stepping out.. A comment can't say it all though but trust me smelling good matters a lot...
Long time subscriber, first time commenting. Been holding out but I think its time to truly commend you for what you do for folks out there. You have a way with words that makes sense and keeps us tuned in. You are what I call a BB woman -Beautiful and brilliant. Yours truly.

Oh my god, this is so helpful, ive always struggled with people, and you've really helped me develop a solid starting point to work from with an array of easy habits that actually make sense. I will utilize these. Thank you so much for deepening my understanding of what socialization entails, i needed it!
These are great tips. I have always been a pretty shy person but over the years/as I have gotten older I have become more social. I agree that putting yourself in situations where you can more social is very helpful. I worked as a resident assistant while in college and thay definitely push me to get out of my comfort zone and had no choice but to be social and it helped that it was a way to pay for my housing so definitely a great incentive for me.
@Jessica Os you're awesome with this new style of play for conveying your message. Hope we'll see more of that in the future. Keep up with what you do and sharing all your valuable learnings.
I think you are generally right but some people avoid making the first move in order to prevent rejection; some folks take rejection pretty hard; as you know there are some people who will reject your approach even if it is slightly off.
I’d like to hear your take on how to graduate from small-talk surface stuff to building friendship. Since Pandemic it seems many are in their shells and wary of new people.
I'm here to practice my English listening and get some advice about how to deal with girls and improve my social life, by the way, I love this lady so much
Thanks Jessica for the insights, sincerely speaking am a very shy individual and quiet one at that, but I'll do my best to keep up with your tips. And lastly i love your composure while speaking.thanks
