Hello "BMP". Finally had a chance to watch this video. It was a true delight. It would not surprise me to know that old Fairbanks-Morse Gen-set was lighting up at least the near area. I imagine it's putting out 220 volts at about 100 amps. Single phase of course. That Frick sawmill was a prime example of "Arm Strong" power. Makes glad I have a Home depot close by. What a great trip. Thank you.
Thank you. Such an excellent window on the past. Many of things that we take for granted today highlighted. The sawmill, while fascinating, show how safety precautions were not a very high priority back in the day. I shudder to think of the injuries people sustained in earning their daily living. Your sawmill is positively super modern day when compared with the mill you showed today. All power to the "chewy" and the hydraulics etc of your mill. Thanks again. Patrick
Hey Mark, Eddie and ZZ, thank you for the great tour of the sawmill and steam engine show! The hit and miss engines were wonderful and the old cable driven shovels were awesome. It is just amazing that those old diesel powered shovels and drag lines are still in operation today. Thanks also for the look at the Frick sawmill in action. Made me think immediately of John Clark and turning logs on the carriage by hand. I don’t know how he does it by himself - he is one of a kind! The old Frick mill was a slow feed situation but it seemed to have good accuracy and handled the larger Tulip Poplar logs really well. Definitely a huge step back in time. Great video gentlemen!
Thanks for sharing this video very interesting. It reminds me a lot of the yerly event in Sweden. "Motorns dag" The day of the old engines . Steam sawing ,Big diesel engines , Excurvaters ,Traktors. ETC.ETC.
Oh My Lord, I would have been in my glory, I love seeing all these memories. Even though I am only 64, I remember a lot of these old machines. Thanks for sharing this video Mark. I would love to go to this show one day. I have seen this show before on Letsdig18 (Chris Guins) UA-cam channel. He sometimes travels to this show when he is in PA. buying New/used Heavy Equipment.
I love those old backhoes, or fronthoes, i was just young enough to see these being used, in my town. St. George, N.B. Canada., it was wonderful too watch them work. Hope you 3 had a great time, wish i could been down there too.
Hi from Staffordshire UK Great to see so many passionate people using vintage equipment it’s a growing trend all over the world if it gets lost future generations will never know👍
Hi fellas it seems that you had a good time watching the Frick sawmill just seems to need a lot of people to operate it. It would have been nice if you had told us what was happening thanks Peter from Melbourne Australia
We have a permanent display of all this type of old equipment in Lysterfield in Melbourne Australia they even have a little train track running around the facility they have some of those Ruston Bucyrus diggers as well
Maybe Invite the mill lady to your mill for a little variety. Miss the said boom as the log slammed the deck. Great video of the more peaceful times in history.
When you walked by the Massey Ferguson display, it reminded me of a news report. There were some Canadian Mercenarys at the Bay Of Pigs invasion. Their families back in Canada paid for their release with Massey Ferguson tractors. They were shipped by rail out of Moncton New Brunswick by rail to Halifax Nova Scotia where they were loaded on a ship for Cuba.
hi guys what a great show , look at all the ideas for your bus engine replacement .john is watching this , looks like a OO Frick . if i were you i would trade Eddie and ZZ for the pretty lady ,good look at the nice show . john
That was a great video. I'm wondering if you got any still pics of that crane with the wooden side walls. What a beauty! I'd like one (pic) for my collection.
Fascinating show. I am always interested in those hit and miss engines. My grandmother had a hit and miss engine that powered her Maytag washing machine. Maytag made the engine I believe. I think Grandma had it in the thirties and used it for years. My youngest brother got it running again and now my Mother uses it. The longevity of old engineering just keeps going. Are there any dates for next years show?? I need to see this in person in my lifetime. Even with old school saws, victims go "boom".
TheEdgar said "Don't let Mark tell you he didn't saw any logs during the event, at one point he took a short nap, and was most certainly 'sawing logs' (snoring) like a whole lumber camp." Neighbors in 69' had a Massey-Ferguson snowmobile.
HI MARK that's how U had 2 do back then U had 2 turn logs by hand be 4 the auto log turners were made and most of the time U had a good man log turner most he could turn by his self unless more help was needed that was the way it was done all day everyday back then had 2 eat a good breakfast and a good lunch 😊😊 2 turn logs all day most sawmills had 2 log turners 1 would turn 4 the mornings and 2ND would turn 4 the evenings and when U needed help U had it 😊😊😅😅🎉🎉 OMG 8 14 2O23

That was a great video. I'm wondering if you got any still pics of that crane with the wooden side walls. What a beauty! I'd like one (pic) for my collection.
thanks Doug , no I didn't .
Interesting comparison with the manual Frick and the hydraulic Edmiston. Hard to believe they ever made any money with the slow Frick.
Hi Mark and crew. Thanks for the video.
What type of engine was in that Frick mill?
God Bless.
thanks Brett , I think I show it on the slide show.
Just shows the difference the chain deck with the get on pedals and chewy make to speed of output must have made a lot of workers redundant 👍🇬🇧🤓
yes it does and our mill is slow for todays standards.
loved the show
thanks.
Love the blues music
thanks Terry.
I didn't see any of my favorites like Let's Dig 18 and Diesel Creek.
we did talk to Matt but no video he was very busy.
I love seeing Matt from dieselcreek
we did talk to him early in the day.
Fascinating show. I am always interested in those hit and miss engines. My grandmother had a hit and miss engine that powered her Maytag washing machine. Maytag made the engine I believe. thanks Anthony , they will have a spring show May 18th & 19th 2024.
Good video Bus Motor Productions
Well this is a first. I've never see a sawmill operation where the power unit was throttled up and down.???
Great video. Yup John (fricknjeep) Clark missed out. He would have been in Hog Heaven at this show.
thanks , yes he would be right at home lol.
When they turned that log I said BOOM.👍
that's funny lol!
What no boom at 28:25 Mark your slipping 😂😂
yes I am lol.
TheEdgar said "Don't let Mark tell you he didn't saw any logs during the event, at one point he took a short nap, and was most certainly 'sawing logs' (snoring) like a whole lumber camp." Neighbors in 69' had a Massey-Ferguson snowmobile.
yes Massey Ferguson made many things.
@@markgalicic7788 Yes they did. I even had a Massey Ferguson Snore Shrowd.

Going on my bucket list!
I'm a heavy machine guy, myself
the next show is May 18th & 19th 2024.
ThNk the Lord for hydraulics.
Plenty of Booms there that’s for sure.👌
I should have snuck a BOOM sign in and put it on there wall lol!
I believe his setworks are off a little bit.
yes he kept checking it with his tape measure.
You need to get one of those for your sawmill… I’m referring to the blonde log handler in the tight jeans. Also, didn’t see any horse drawn equipment.
eyes on your own paper lol , no we didn't see any horse powered equipment.
ben is here!!!
Hello Ben.

Looks to me like a lot of chaos.

@@markgalicic7788If I sounded sarcastic I apologize, that certainly wasn't the intent. Thanks for sharing this it really was interesting.
