Just got mine and I love it. I’m still gonna collect real cartridges but I wanna keep them in boxes so they don’t get messed up. I’ll keep the ED64Plus in my N64 so no pins on the console or games get ruined
No offense, but that's a weird thing to be worried about in the preservation of cartridge consoles. The pins tend to hold out fine, barring you don't tend to spill your Starbucks on everything and try to keep the games clean and dry. I'd be much more worried about save battery degradation and capacitors going bad.
I have the same black cartridge as you do and i hold the reset button for 7 seconds every time i quit a game and i never lose my saves. You also have to wait for the main menu of the ed64 plus to load after hitting reset or it won’t save. After that you can turn the N64 off or just play another game.

About the hat, check Shifting Sand Land near the oasis with the palm tree. If it's not there check Snowman's Land near the entrance (where you land when you get blown off from the bridge on your way up the snowman). Last check Tall Tall Mountain, the monkey might have it. Hope you find it.
Lately its been a battle of manufacturers for these cartridges. Sure you can support one manufacturer that has a couple extra features for $200 more. Or you can get the cheaper brand that allows you to play the games as they were back in the day.
Diddy Kong racing, International Superstar Soccer 98, Mischief Makers, Geomons great adventure(and mystical ninja if you prefer open world over side scrolling). These are more of the obscure games that I liked. Compared to the ones on everyone’s list…aka goldeneye, wwf, Mario party
Love Diddy Kong racing and how it was treated almost like an rpg in a way. One of the the first games I got was mischief makers that one was weird but fun

@LivingwithPerks, The only drawback, is that my No Mercy file has a stuck savestate. Not too long after completing 100%, I can't make any further changes At All 😔
Thanks for the video! I think I may order one of these after seeing this. Look into getting some s video cables for better. I had some for my ps2 that blew me away when I saw the difference. Keeping the original aspect ratio could increase sharpness a bit as well.
I think an expansion pak is essential I thought same but looks like it’s relied on for most games I’d of thought the flash would of lended a pitiful few mb but It don’t do that’s 30 quid for a damm pak

Nope, the PSX version was the worst port of Gauntlet Legends. Less content and worse graphics. The game does run great on my N64 with expansion pack. Never had slow downs. I even prefer it to the Dreamcast version!
I think there’s a way to do that. Honestly I’d just keep the console on if you’re playing a story game that way you don’t lose your save. The cartridge isn’t that well and I kinda wished I had bought an actual Everdrive 64, I may just do that later in time.

Create a folder on the root of the SD card called ED64P and throw OS64P.V64 in that folder. Roms just go into the root but you can make folders for them if you want to split by genre. You can find OS64P.V64 easily on google. Cheers
What moron would frown upon this? it's one thing to play all of your games. I did the same with my ps2 with the mcboot and mc4sio. It's awesome. I ended up just selling my physicals. Its still just as nostalgic being able to play all of these. It's a just a more smart and simplified way to do it.
I get the odd freeze and sound fails in some games in just random places and have to reset. Daikitana is one , I don’t have memory expansion though so maybee this is the blame as I tried different sd cards and apart from that it runs well so anyone know the reason I have a pal console and use Europe roms most part.

Maybe I'm just weird but I don't want my n64 upscaled I want to play on original resolution on a tube TV. For me even playing widescreen or on a flash cart is kinda sacrilegious.
@@LivingwithPerks now that I've seen the prices of some cartridges I definitely agree sir. I do want to collect the ones that are special to me but the rest can go on a flash cart. I think my main reason I wanted to dislike them is I felt like If you're going to do all of that you might as well just run an emulator but then I realized running on the original hardware especially on N64 is actually very crucial to the original experience. That combined with the price of some of these cartridges I can easily see why people want them now.
Disappointed. I bought this for $80 thinking I could back up saves (and roms) from my authentic carts and rewrite them to the carts if they got deleted. And so I can play my saves on my smart phone on the go without starting over buuut that is not the case.
Yeah pretty sure you need computer hardware to rip your own roms from your own authentic carts. This is purely for playing roms and saving new saves or using the N64 memory pak. I'm sure you can do what you want to do but just need more hardware and cables than just this device. It's not the ED64's fault.
@@anthonyrchornes I agree, the cartridge itself isn't illegal, but it becomes illegal when someone jailbreaks or emulates copyrighted games into the cartridge without the permission of the person or company who made the game. It's like buying a stolen TV with a bunch of cable channels in it.

Does holding down reset give you a save state to continue exactly where you left off?

After 2 years worth of use; how are the saves holding up? Do they save into the SD card?
Yup! Still works like a charm. I don't play it daily but every few months I will boot up my old saves.

No. My TV has a "stretch" setting

I actually played Animal Crossing (animal forest) on here... I dunno about stadium as I don't like that game but I feel like that rom was on here too.

Hold down the reset button for like 10 seconds to save. Then u can go to another game or turn it off and back on.
