There is just something about the neck and body shape that feels so good for heavy chugs. I modified my old squier strat from 3 single coils to 2 humbuckers way back and that guitar still rocks hard. I, like you, noticed a definite lack of noise in the Ultra 2, but I may have an idea why that is. If you remove the pickguard, you may find the cavity underneath shielded, perhaps with copper foil tape -- although I fully expect conductive paint instead. Extend the conductive material upwards far enough to have it contact the metal pickguard properly, and you have the upper part of the shielding done by the guard. I think a good shielding scheme would eliminate the residual noise that plagued the original American Ultra -- without a pickup redesign and cheaply. Maybe that's even what they did.

Not a dig or anything. I often need to drill down any neck pick up to get it out of my pick's way while digging into chugged notes. Failing that I always opt for 22 fret guitars since the pick ups have more distance and thus I avoid that issue. Could you delve into how you normally hold the pick? Thank you.

And when Metal guitarists play full-on traditional three single-coil Fender Strats-not Super Strats or those made by other companies. Why not? It’s a cool, legendary guitar made by the company that provided the blueprint and inspiration for all others. Who says you can’t do it. Use a noise gate. My only critique is that I wish you'd run the clean channel with just a touch of reverb and delay because it was hard to really fast hear the pickups with all the effects.
Otherwise, super awesome video. I'm an Ibanez guy but own an american strat and tele because sometimes it just feels so right.

that hidden Push-Push is sick. They got these in a sick metallic green. Out of my budget though, esp for the specs. I own a Strat and a Les Paul. American pro2 and a beautiful lemon burst standard. I love the sounds of both. Les Paul through a Marshall amp is heaven. But The Strat is The most important electric guitar design of all time, Imo. No. Strat, no Steinberger, No Jackson and Ibanez Superstrat models, etc. I love modern stuff too, and I had a PRS and it was great, But Fender had a nearly perfect design in 1954, imo. Clapton, Beck, Hendrix, Malmsteen, Vaughn Brothers, Gilmour, Etc, they can't all be mistaken.

Metal is not a function of a guitar body shape and Strats traditionally are associated with 3 single coils this is why Metal and Strats didn’t mix, once you add a humbucker it no longer applies it will be the same as any guitar with a Humbucker (sonically). It is perfectly logical of doing any metal genre on a humbucker the shape of the guitar is irrelevant at that point.
