- The Kartarpura food street is famous for its taste and traditional style. It offers several food items dating back to pre-partition. The market is famous for its traditional Nihari, Siri Paye (trotters) and Lassi.
In routine, the market becomes alive at around evening and offers a range of traditional foods to the visitors. However, during Ramazan, the market becomes crowded at sehr.
A large number of citizens reach the market and enjoy traditional foods such a Nihari, Tikka, Chany and Lassi. The most famous outlet in the street is: ‘Kala Khan Nihari’, which has been offering tasty Nihari since many years.
Sagheer Ahmed, a worker at the shop, said: “We offer fresh Nihari to our clients. We cook the Nihari for a specific number of people to avoid wastage. We entertain around one thousand customers daily. We also sell our food in parcels on a large scale.”
The market is located at a short drive from Asghar Mall Intersection on Benazir Bhutto Road. However, the only drawback is that the streets are narrow and finding parking space is always a hassle.
However, that does not deter visitors. After 11pm, one can hardly find a place to sit in any of the restaurants that line the street. During Ramazan, people have to wait in lines to get a chance to eat inside any restaurant.

I have watched a lot of videos about pakistan and pakistani food, i saw one beautiful thing that pakistani shopekeeper never take money from visitors; who are not from their city or state and who are not from thier country. They always said you are our guest. You pakisatni have a big heart.

Jama masjid ..Lal qila to shah janha order. so cause of that 1st time Nihari was cook in Old delhi ..and i m also from Old delhi.

Dear madam I agree with you that Nihari was originated from Delhi but now Karachi and Lahore has taken a lead in this meal. I am a true Nihari lover. I travelled for Nihari from Islamabad to Lahore, Karachi and even to Delhi. Visited all Nihari shops in chandni chowk but believe me I am not biased the Delhi Nihari is far behind Karachi Nihari. Now true Nihari is available in Karachi only. The Karachi's Nihari makers are descendent s from Delhi. Pls do visit Karachi if you find some iccassion. Regards and love from Pakistan

That's where my family is from. Kartarpura, Rawalpindi. So many memories but the area has changed a lot since our elders passed away. The real charm of the neighborhood were the elders who kept the community strong. I miss my nana and nani :(
