The most important thing was the recording quality, actually I have a 4K TV & a PS4 Pro and still play in 1080p because I have to use an external recorder (Elgato Game Capture Card) if the PS5 can record up to 60 frames per second then that means I can finally play and record in 4K at the same time which is INCREDIBLE! If I wanted to go out and buy a 4K 60fps recorder I'd need to spend at least $400 and it still won't be very useful.. now all I hope for is that it records in 60 fps so that I don't have to buy a new recorder!!
It does record 4K @60fps. Saw it confirmed in another video from digital foundry or another source. I forget.

The bit rate is very important at 4K because the XBOX ONE X recorded at 24mbs which was no good and the recordings were horribly pixelated, so i would say 50mbs minimum would be good on the new consoles, but they probably won't have that high a bit-rate - I hope i am wrong.

@@Verlesen the elgato hd 60s is what I've been using for two years now.. it's a very good recorder no doubt about it.. but the problem is you can't play in 4K and record in 1080p at the same time.. once you plug in your recorder you're gonna play and record at 1080p.
Sony really put a lot of effort into new, quality-of-life features in this new console. Can't wait to experience the new generation!

Trophy progress tracking, the option to turn on subtitles by default for all games and game hub music - NICE! What about tracking in-game time?
I'm sure they have put a feature for how long you've played a game.
I loved seeing my info on 3DS, I wish it was a standard thing to track all your playtimes.
@@Boyzby Steam also tracks playtime. Game statistics that Sony provides at the end of each year clearly proves that even PS4 has playtime tracking under the hood, but either they didn't bother to make it available for users during multiple firmware updates or it is just not available for all games.
There is in-game time tracking, on your trophy list on ps5 at the side of each game
Ghost of Tsushima recently added playtime info on each of the saves, so you can see how long you've played the game on a particular save. I could be wrong, but I think that's the first time I've seen playtime tracking on a Playstation console before.
This video just further fuels my excitement. I feel so fortunate that I was able to secure a PS5.

the trophy process tracking is a really sweet detail
and i love the "mute all sounds" function with the mute button!! it might sound like a small, niche detail, and it kinda is, but sometimes you just need silence and turning off the tv/headset isnt too optimal. nice!
the game music thing is pretty cool.

Just got mine yesterday with the pulse headset. Not gonna lie, the controller is amazing. Feeling grass on your fingertips. The ps5 is literally a game changer.
I really think trophies should be made so that you can convert them into a kind of store currency, kind of what steam does for when you buy games. A lot more people would want to complete a game if it meant something like being able to unlock a cool theme or Avatar.
some games do this like when i platinum horizon zero dawn i unlocked some theme and avatar of the game. but this concept would be amazing😁

Sony Rewards is an app that rewards you for trophies
they already have this feature.. you get points for trophies you earn to buy stuff from the sony store..and most sony exclusives have some type of reward you get for earning a platium in said game..like themes and avatars..download sony rewards app and sign up.
@@supremeaxiom Are you sure about this? I may be missing it but I downloaded the Sony Rewards app but didn't find anything about points you can earn by unlocking trophies. The only way it says you can earn points is by buying stuff. And it's only available in the US unfortunately.

the music as you go over a game is one of my favourite additions. its such a small detail but im so excited about it
was already on the ps4 for some games. but i still love the detail
@@luczids4258 - Maybe it’s my setup, but I find that feature on the PS4 jumps to insane volume... if I’m not wearing a headset, I’ll scroll over a game and my speakers get blasted. Not unlike when watching a drama and a commercial comes on at twice the volume of what you are watching. Hopefully there’s some consistency there.
The ps5 brings back some things from the ps3 which is awesome, this is basically one of it

“Game hub” music used to be on ps3. Don’t know why they got rid of that concept during ps4

Gamehub music was my favorite small detail in PS3. Its good they brought it back on ps5.

Soulsborne doesn't even have a difficulty setting, it's mandatory to be on the hardest mode 😂
I mean, the default difficulty is normal, you can turn it's to easy mode by getting broken mechanic like magic, the rapier from DS2 or the twinblade from DS3 lol. Or turn it's to hard mode with the bell and no charm in Sekiro.

The fact that the controller has texture in the form of small PS symbols is so silly and yet I love it. I'm really eager to try out the adaptive triggers as well.

Dude I finally got one and the satisfaction is amazing.
I am very excited for the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The possibilities, if used right, seem to be endless. How scary games will have specific feedback when being stalked, or guns running out of bullets, the feeling of a door being locked when you turn it, or stabbing different types of enemies that give different types of resistance or feel. Not all games will have this of course, but I hope exclusives will go all out with those two features.
Recording trophies hopefully has a toggle, bc I can only only imagine how space that will take up after a while.

The feature I'm most excited about is the one where it goes into my entertainment center 🤣
The thing I'm most looking forward to? A PS5 sitting in the row of consoles hooked up to my 4k TV. That, and being able to retire my PS4. The PS3 might not get retired just yet, since I mostly use it to play PS1 and PS2 games right now. Oh, and a few PS3 games.

I must say I really dig a global preferences setting for things like Inverted Y Axis as I sometimes find myself going between two games at the same time where one differs from the other, as some games, especially remasters, make this change hard to find in their own menu systems

The inverting of controls and subtitles option is a nice touch! Saves time bc i always have to change them in the options

Game hub music was a feature on the ps3 and ps4. Wasn't called that, but when you hover on a game on ps3, a background sometimes would pop up with music and on ps4 when you press down on a game. Nice to see it staying.
One feature I love is the ability to hold down the mute button to mute the entire system, that is an amazing quality of life improvement. That being said one shortcut ability I would personally like to see involves using the often neglected TouchPad. For instance, what if while on the home screen, we could use 2 fingers on the TouchPad and swipe either left and right or up and down to quickly adjust the system' overall volume and screen brightness? That would be awesome to quickly quiet the tv or tone down the brightness due to changes in your playing environment. Those are just major settings that would be nice to be accessible quickly without going through menus or grabbing your TV remote.

Wow I love how user centered the design is! I'm really excited to experience this console! I really loved the PS4's UI and function and this just improves it more!!
Love the engineering aspect of the design as well. Even just the simple storage for the screw really show how much focus and detail they've put into this console!
@@marcope5771 Having to unscrew something and screw it back on a different way is not good design at all, you shouldn't have to do that with a decent design.

I am super hyped for 4k video recording. I love to record small clips from my games on PS4, and it really upsets me that regular PS4 can record only 720p videos, that actually looks like 480p for some reason...

@@empirezz2728 I mean.. Elgato allow you to use your custom overlay for stream, and playstation is not... So i believe streamers still need to use those....
The trophy tracking is a much welcome addition. It will make trophy hunting even better. Sublime.
In the settings menu you can also set the mute button to on or off as standard
Going over a game while its theme song plays in the background is a really nice touch!!

I didn't realise how excited about across-the-board inversion I'd be until today. This is going to add weeks to my life I would otherwise have spent in option menus.

@@Buzz69Lightyear Most likely talking about the console's support for 120Hz. That said, the 120Hz support is separate from the 4K, and can be achieved without it. However, I don't know of any actual TV with real VRR that isn't 4K already, so this guy might have a point.

They should add a feature where you get a % discount on all games the more trophies you collect.
They did test that out for the PS4. Didn't end up doing much.

Wasn't the accessories being brought forward to the 12th? Was for me. Getting both my separate controller and the headset this thursday here in Sweden, where the console still launches at the 19th sadly.

@@Prij95 Well, I saw an article stating that accessories will be available on the 12th in the UK (and likely in the rest of the world too), and I just got a message last week from where I pre-ordered my console and headset that the headset will arrive on the 12th. I'd be surprised if you don't end up getting 'em on the 12th too.

A feature to invert the "X" and "O" functionalities would be great too.

After them pushing Japan to not have O for Confirm and X for Back anymore, I just had to say it. Alternatively, I wish all PS5 games will have controller remapping.

The obvious highlight here was the UA-cam support. You can make youtube content on this thing without a capture card or any crazy equipment. You can record video at full resolution and framerate and even stream the console directly to youtube or twitch without any extra peripherals. That's just amazing.

I'm so excited that I was able to snag both next generation consoles and will pick them up on their respective launch days. I have to say that both Microsoft and Sony really brought out the big guns here. When companies fight this hard for our dollars we the consumers win. No matter which console you choose (or both like me) this generation is going to be absolutely glorious. Both have the power under the hood to push beyond what we have witnessed before and the speed that we as gamers have been dreaming of since the dawn of gaming.

I've just realised Playstation have kinda taken a stance against loot boxes with their in game trophy rewards
I'm disappointed that PS5 removed the 3D Blu-ray support and also removed the optical audio port to plug into the surround sound system.
I love that u can now mute with one touch easily and you can mute all sounds so when parents ask to lower sound my legs dont have to get pain to do it manually from t.v

... The Game Hub Music took me by surprise ... A great feature and one that had me confused in a good way when I first booted the PS5
With the game hub music the ps3 did that in 2006

Wow after all this time I had no idea the controller actually has the Playstation shapes etched in for the grip. Didnt believe you at first but looking at my controller right now up close it really does haha that's amazing.
I didn’t know most of these things, but what blew my mind the most is when he put the cap that covers where the screw goes inside the stand. I put that cap under my tv so I wouldn’t lose it, but now I see it actually has a spot in the stand😂
I wonder if Playstation hid a secret message in the engravings on the surface of the console.
The engravings are microscopic playstation symbols

Wonder if they thought of a fingerprint scanner for the dualsense so with one touch, you can instantly turn on the system and be logged into the associated account.

Screenshots and recordings are not really viable with only 600 gb of storage.
Screenshots don’t take that much at all and all my screenshots and trust me there’s 2000 they take 5 gbs not that much but video clips are and why not delete clips it’s unneeded

Nooo. It's quick and easy, yes, and a good addition. Really the point was about being able to mute all PS5 sound using the button's secondary function.

And for me personally, it is barely a difference since my tv remote is almost always at an arm's reach.
Not saying it shouldn't be a feature, but putting that in a list sounds reaching. The no6 as well, PS4 also have the game's background music when you go to it's info menu. Not something worth mentioning when PS4 also has it.
@@akmal94ibrahim having multiple options with one button on the controller is amazing. Mute your self, Mute the tv, and hear what someone is saying to you in a short moment.
The music playback thing when moving from one title to another was in PS3 too
