Definitely a must have for editors using synology. Unfortunately, fewer care about the topic and many editors are not NAS nerds. If you do the same for Unraid and Nextcloud with step by step instructions you will become a real hero !
I vote that every project is saved on its own microSD card and hidden in a potato planted in the back yard. Put it in a container and call it your potato server!
Damn that’s not a bad idea
Hey nice video I'm new to NAS and that Synology drive on client machines is awesome, exactly what I need thanks for sharing!
Great content and editing. Awesome humour!
Awesome video!
My three year old niece and I nearly died laughing at the voice at 5:51, hahaha!! Excellent video, like all the others on your channel!
There are also companies where you can run your own HDDs offsite, like "server housing" but instead "HDD housing". HyperBackup can do local encryption before upload, so no problem at data security.
Great video! I learned a few things!
💜💜💜
Good video sir !! Like how you showed Windows & Mac..
This really helped me. Thank you.
Good one!
Thanks so much for this video! Can you make another video pertaining to showing how you organize your files and setup resolve? Do you have the resolve project file location save to this folder? Also what about cache etc?
3.2.1 rules as far as I know are:
minimum of 3 copies of data
minimum the copies are in 2 different media
and minimum of one copies are stored offsite/different location.
very nice video man as always.
oh and my backup strategies would be to rsync the snapshot to another larger and slower NAS.
been testing it using 2 truenas and working great.
You can also use back blaze as cloud backup it’s a flat price for unlimited storage
I use zerotier for connecting my travel nas copies to my main nas in real time and only gets turned on when I'm travelling works like a local network drive and is really fast when on 5G.
Thanks for the video. Do you have any update on supporting 3rd party NVME?
Excellent. But I have a question , how to get video thumbnails in Synology ?
Just a heads-up - Synology Drive's realtime sync messes with some software causing it to not work properly. For example, Vivado/Vitis (AMD/Xilinx IDE to work with FPGAs and SoCs) is known to throw mysterious errors when working on a project that is being synced in a real time. But OneDrive and Google Drive cause the same problem, so it's not a Synology fault, but that of the software. Still, it's useful to know that if you move your project into folder with real time sync and the software starts behaving strangely, it could be that this sync is indeed a problem. In my case I solved this problem by doing daily scheduled backups in the middle of the night instead of real time, which works for me most of the time, but when I do feel like I did something worth backing up immediately, I can always force the backup process at any time on an ad-hoc basis.
Yeah I never actively work on a project in two separate places so I’ve never run into this issue but it makes sense.
i have an QNAP1288x not doing much but it does have tiered storage. m.2.. SSD and hdd. wouldnt a synology equiv be better for faster speeds?
I want to user synology drive but already have a SMB share ecosystem setup so I’m not sure how to use drive without having duplicate data
Nice ;)
What sata drive you have in the synogy?
You are a Mandos User Definitely
My second sixty-niner on UA-cam today.
All my important stuff is backed up with back blaze. As wrong as this is going to sound, my file/media server runs deskop windows OS. Backblaze doesn't support server operating systems. This lets me back up my whole 20 bay box for $7.00 a month.
I use HyperBackup to a BackBlaze bucket. BackBlaze rocks!
_or if you are really unlucky, youtube_
Might wanna lump in twitch streamer with that now what with the job cuts from there 😏
9:50 - At this moment you realize... LTO tapes are better then all this cloud solutions...
Bruh don't you have anything better to do at 8 in the morning?
why buy a sinology , just use your old computer as nas work better and cost less iven a 15 year old core 2 duo can become your nas , and will be more powerful that most sinology and you can buy one for less than 50euro ,
