One of the most interesting rig run downs ever! Tim is an unsung Legend!!
Tim's comments on cooling are spot on. The 2 core copper brass rad is the best solution. High flow pumps are a waste of money. It's all about air flow and pulling heat out of the rad.
Been there and done all the "fixes" too.
Tim’s comment about keeping the pump as a 10mm and running less than 20psi boost are spot on, my cars a silver top with a safe tune and I’ve always got plenty of power and torque at my disposal, even on the road if I need to overtake I can, that being said 12mm pumps are cool :))
Beauty of these old patrols is you can set them up anyway you want to do anything, full comp truck to outback Explorer. Great video as always mate👍
Love the Toyota badge on the dash, also 80series bump stops, just can’t keep away from an 80s lol. sick rig dude, love it..🤘
Old mate needs one of those CV checklist stickers on the rear window to mark how many CV's he has killed hahahaha
🤣
You & Tim are both legends mate, love your work, cant wait to see the chop when its all finished.
Thanks 👍
What a great looking patrol love the look of older looking vehicles much better than what's out these days 👍 🏴
Thanks 👍
Thoroughly enjoyed the last few episodes with Tim.... you need to get down to Tassie and let him take you bush bashin..
jan 2023 😜
Love Tim GQ simple setup but super capable
A real adventurer! Love it!
awesome rig run thru guys cheers !
Awesome 👌
Great content , greetings from south africa 🇿🇦 👏
Yep, that's a tough rig ok...
Heavily modified to do a job, be interesting to see the next reincarnation of this beast when done, sound interesting. Good walk around!!👍🚙🇦🇺
Great vid. Love seeing people's Builds!
Thanks 👍
Then theres me, running a 165cc 12mm clive pump wound right the way up pushing 23psi on a silvertop and never had a problem👍
I love how much Rough Country Gear Timmy has in the Troll
Patrol's capability, Toyota's heart and Land Rover's philosophy
Hey TT ... that was a great look at Tim's car ... FYI I'm in Sydney hosp burns unit ... lost my house to a fire in July and I never got to wear my TT hoodie dammit... apparently was on news at home .... but I had a 26 day nap in ICU here in Sydney .. learning to walk again and use my hands ... new lease on life. Mending nicely but burned to tha shithouse LOL love your Chanel missed a few I think lol
Very talented guy - great to see young fellas do things well. Makes me want to downgrade from new LC to a 92 4x4 to mod and not be worried about cosmetic damage on tracks!
I went from a hdj79 to a cheap td42 gq best thing I did
@@willmcc05 - agree mate, I’m a bit over being precious with a $150k 4x4 and think we’d enjoy the outdoors more not worrying about banging it up!
Lol I remember when you got your patrol and I pm’d you on instafamous, and told you they will climb trees and your nav will be a daily driver but “always a but” fuel consumption will kill someone like me 😂, your vid on the defect/engineering was awesome a real eye opener for a lot of veteran wheelers, every state is different and because of you 😏 I’m getting my engineering done this week 👍, GVM and yep you guessed it the long range fuel tank “yes guys in NSW your long range tank needs to be engineered “ I think all influencers need to have a duty of care or a disclaimer saying do at your own risk/expense, it’s a bit of red tape bs some of the rulings “but they are law 🤮”I wonder how legal your mates patrol is 🤔 different state though so different rules, the insight into how to do things how capable things are also need to be balanced with legality and potential pit falls, love ya work mate don’t want to preach to the choir, but a lot of peeps just do what they see done and well they learn the hard way or learn from guys like you (who learnt the hard way 😂) keep it real brother and live the dream 😎
Sick rig!🤩
I remember seeing those crate engines on patrolapart and wondered who might buy one.
With sensible mods and tuning she'll go for well over 500,000km without any issues.. Pretty good return in the long run.
You'd be getting pumped to get your GQ done and on the tracks now.
yep!
It’s funny watching these vids, I’ve got the exact same patrol, mines a early 93, ti, same colour combo, indentical except mine is a factory TD42 silver top... mine however is immaculate.. get stopped all the time.. when I see the vids, I just feel like it increases the value and rare factor massively, of finding a mint, factory TD42 that hasn’t been abused.. but then I don’t think I’d ever sell her anyways!!!
Thats cool that you have one thats immaculate but whats the point lol The only thing they're good for is offroading
@@Jacobtheunwise where did I say I don’t go off-roading in it? I just don’t abuse it, like bashing panels and breaking as much as I can at every moment. They were never meant for that kind of abuse otherwise they wouldn’t break, rust and bend. but each to their own.
sick video ! ver well filmed ! Go the Patrol! 🛻🤙😎📹🏞️
Love the bloopers 😂
Awesome rig, awesome
Vid!
Thanks! 👍
Hmm, about time to put a PATROL badge on my Prado🤣
awesome rig 🤟😎
What a legend 👏
Those flexy coil are sweet!
Yes they are!
Are you also going to look at all his busted CVs? 🤣🤣🤣
Kai doesn't look too impressed. Think he needs a bacon & egg roll
Gq actually came factory turbo from 93. But Aussie never got them. And they had vacuum pump on alternator like he's done till 95 then They changed.
Great guy
Love your work, Would have liked to know what brakes setup he is running as GQ brakes are notoriously crap
Keen to see the chop
Hey Tyler, How's your own GQ build coming along? Any more updates?
❤❤❤❤best one
Hey matey i just put a brand new patrolapart crate motor in my 91 gq im interested to no how you run yours in
cheers
that 35 will rip rip that door apart on the standard wheel mount
That thing sounds angry!
oh it's nice to see are modified patrol for are change🙄
TSIO’s are gunna be waiting for this when it rolls off the boat
They gotta catch me son. TD stonkin torque.
@@timmyhasheart challenge accepted.
@@bluedunn374 nothing is a challenge in a TD42 mate
Yeah go tassie
The only problem with your videos is they come out about 10am in New Zealand. So that's brunch over about to get into the day.... Oh wait start day or watch video always an issue 😊
😂😅
Why can,t you a bonnet entry snorkel in Tassie.
How can we follow Tim on his re-build & adventures?.
@timmyhasheart on socials mate! ;) (Soz for the comment hijack Ty hehe)
Give it some jandal
Noice - bit different from the norm....
Is this churchys old rig ?
Your mate said the TDi came out in 2006, my 2003 is factory TDi
Yeah mate I said 2006 because that’s the final year they fitted them to the GU. Considering it’s a brand new engine that’s the closest it’d have been that’s all, wasn’t saying they didn’t come earlier 👍
@@timmyhasheart arrrr i misunderstood you, my bad, cheers.
What a rig!
Only one question - is it engineered and therefore legal to drive on public roads?
Are they extended towers or the factory ones?
they would have to be 30-40mm extended
Fuck yeah good vid
how do you pay for all of that !!!! how much have you spent on it ????
3 billion dollars
Tracks yes
Beach they are horrible by comparison to a ifs setup for beaches
I can imagine f&r ifs even better again
👍
Motor detroit diesel 7mil cavalo quíntuplo turbo
🇦🇺🍺❤️👍
aye Tyler when you gonna TD42 your GU petrol..future project project mate..🤘
If he was going to engine swap the TB48 GU he would be better off putting a Duramax v8 instead of a TD42 similar in price nearly these day's and swapping out a TB48 for a TD42 kettle/forklift engine lol would be a downgrade.
@@nicholasturner5159 all u need is a 1hd fte
@@user-qb4xr6ff9y naturally aspirated bone stock TB48's keep up with all the big boosted worked turbo diesel TD42's and 1HD-FTE's off-road and leaves them for dead on-road why spend 20k on swapping out the big TB48 to get less power and reliability when you could spend under half that on TB48 and have reliable effortless 300+hp while running under half the boost that 200+hp TD42 and 1HD-FTE turbo diesels run.
@@nicholasturner5159 a td 42 and 1hd should not be in the same sentence people run 400hp 1000nk ftes
@@user-qb4xr6ff9y lol I've seen turbo TB48 gu's making 400rwkw and 1100Nm on only 21 pounds of boost like to see a FTE make that power with only 21 pound and without breaking the bank or the internals and if where talking big power go check out 2000+hp TB48 gq patrol on Fullboost or the 3000hp TB48 C7 Corvette that dominated pro street 6cyl and 8cyl classes on ProTreeVideos
far out, cuts and edits every 10 seconds very hard to watch ,stopped watching 10 minutes in sorry mate...maybe scripted next time?
What is tims instagram and youtube if he has one would greatly appreciate it
