    Thank you for posting this video. You really do know your stuff. I have my unreliable Royal Enfield for sale at the present and will be buying one of these as soon as it sells. I have downloaded a lot of repair video's on the Honda Silver Wing 600 but yours are always the best. Thank you once again.

    I would've replaced that overheated clutch drum. When a car flywheel or bike metal clutch disc is blued like that it changes the hardness of the metal and makes it "lumpy" in effect. I had a car flywheel that had blue spots on it and the machine shop refused to shave it because it would judder badly again in a few hundred miles. I have an ST1100 and that had blued plates that caused bad juddering. (Previous owners abused both clutches - not me) BUT, the question is... did it start squealing again? ...or is it still smooth?

    Thank you...real good job on the video....no camera shake....good commentary......it seems that lots of us have this problem....I have owned many bikes and scooters of different sizes.....I bought an 09 with 15,000 Kms four weeks ago.....the squeal appeared soon after....only on start up when pulling away about two seconds gets worse as the belt or the weather warms up....very loud if you try to take a passenger.......I put on new belt and deglazed the pulleys as instructed......the noise is still there.......Since nothing bad is happening I am going to ride it for now and will follow this video. Next time I have the impulse and energy to remove all those covers...lol....It is difficult to find experienced scooter mechanics...I live in Kelowna Canada and by far the majority of riders have v twins around here.......I love a nice sounding v twin.....I also love scootering........ageing and waiting for a knee replacement dictate that I ride a scooter..at least for now........koodos to you

    Good video. Yes the grease is the cure for the squeak. I discovered this on my 2005 Kymco Grandvista 250 and the squeal which started at around 12K miles has never returned. I'm at 22K miles now.

    Great demo, thank you
    I'm amazed that a slight increase in throttle will kick out those clutch shoes enough to engage after you demonstrated how much tension is in those springs. I probably still don't understand how this works.
    I like the ease of a cvt, but I miss having neutral for coasting down hills, or choosing a high gear while going down hills to lower the rpm's.

    Since it is getting Hot enough to change it color, that means you are slipping the clutch making to much Heat, the power is slipping and causing heat. Get a DR hIT Clutch, to resolve this problem, as this problem is a slipping clutch. That blue clutch bell is now damaged from over heating it and probably out of round. I have the DR sliders and the Hit clutch No squeal at all and a Lot less slip. Slip equals Heat, as slip is a reduction of power into heat.

    Here we only have Honda scooters up to 300cc, the SH line.

    Hello man, since you didn't film what the squealing sounded like, I want to make sure that my problem is that that you described. Please see the 7 sec. video ua-cam.com/video/_4YBXZqciMA/v-deo.html and confirm that it's the same that you had, I have this noise only when moving, not when the scooter is on emergency break. If the problem is the same, please advise what exactly helped remove squeal. Was it just deglazing and greasing? Thanks a lot!

    • @VStromGarage
      @VStromGarage  7 років тому

      That is the same sound I had. Mostly it was the deglazing, but it did come back after a short while. I think the only way that I was going to fix it was to replace the bell housing.

    • @silverwing3106
      @silverwing3106 7 років тому

      Thank you very much for your reply! Our SW community in Ukraine are wrestling with the problem I have, first we thought we need to replace the belt, but the measurements proved it's still good - silverwing.org.ua/forum/threads/465/. Then someone suggested changing the clutch spring in case if it doesn't pull the belt properly. And finally I came across your video that seems to shed the light. I will try deglazing, but I also want to make sure I understand what you mean by bell housing? Is it clutch outer or something else? Please advise, thank you!

    • @VStromGarage
      @VStromGarage  7 років тому

      Yes, the clutch outer, and there is a special tool to remove it also.
