Yes this is a year old comment, but the Anodized aluminum will prevent shorts so the Taping of the solder points is not needed thankfully. Anodizing is non conductive which is great for builds like this
I've managed to assemble mine (did the whole thing as luckily have the soldering skills). But qq, have you tried any figthing games like street fighter? The DPAD registers fine, but looks like I can't pull off some fighting moves. Just wanted to know if you have expierienced this also? EDIT - ashamed to say this, but I forgot how to do a Shoryuken. Buttons and d-pad work fine
i hope to see this done in a shell that is a gameboy color or pocket, not just one that resembles them. even if that makes the shell dimensions slightly shorter or narrower
how do you charge it? need to remove the battery every time? i noticed that the usb c board is not installed, but i dont see any connector to plug the charger
@@JuicyJakeRepairs oh yeah especially since my country would consider a package with like 90% aluminium a "metal resource import" and tax me to oblivion and back because i'm not a metalworking company... tbh i'm currently weighing my laziness vs my very much limited budget while trying to figure out whether i just want to rip off the design to 3d print myself.
"those hinges are so Old-school" IN CONTRAST WITH THE GAMES THAT ALL LOOK SO MODERN 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦 dude took what what made the console special. Anyways it's yours do what you please maybe you revert it someday.

That makes me want an aluminium version of the regular hinged GBASP
Extremerate GBA SP Shell is what you are searching for. Thank me later 😉
Unless there is something I havnt seen, they are using glossy ABS plastic but not Aluminium
@@SP95they boxy pixel has the hinged aluminum one now.
Thanks for sharing this video! Can you use any third party ips screens with this kit, and if so which brands?
Thanks for the vid?
Did this require any soldering?
Glad you can use your stock screen now

How important is trimming down the soldering on the connectors?
5:12 is that a required step? I'm pretty sure I will brake something else in the process of cutting those...
thanks!

The Slate looks way better and it has far better form factor.

I would like to buy one on those kits but in china the price for that is ridiculous. You can buy 2 new gbasps for that price😂😂
This model is the budget model, which allows you to use the old shell on the back.
I’d love to do one of these to an sp but for the price of one plus shipping and taxes to Australia is just ridiculous
oh yeah i paid alot in shipping and import fees, it was kinda gross 😅
@@JuicyJakeRepairs thinking of taking the plunge on this myself (UK).. how much was the import fees of you don't mind me asking?
@@nickydunne I live in germany and had to pay like 65€ for shipping + import fees included >:/
What is even the point of import fees??
I have a important question. Can I use the stock screws of my gba ags101 to do this mod?
The v1 volume/power cut out looked a little bevelled that meant the sliders didn't go all the way. From the video, this looks fixed in v2???
oh i was unaware of this issue, thats good if it has been fixed!
@@JuicyJakeRepairs do you still have both to compare?
Loving this mod! I wonder where you bought it from tho...
How can somebody not know Boxypixel?
Oh thank you!

Looked much better before.
Cool, that's the one, it can play all Game Boy games.
God bless.
i have the version 1 and i dont like the travel on the start and select button
oh, im not aware of any changes regarding button travel. Did you end up cutting the conductive pads in yours?
for a 130$ (including the buttons) shell, its kinda sad they still make you use the plastic shoulder buttons though...
yeah, i had to pay alot in import / shipping fees too

You can buy metal ones
So you dont need another screen😮
Look amazing but it’s not official Nintendo…… I prefer stay my old gba sp well….
