👍👍 Very cool 👍👍 a couple of months ago I actually tried to build one of these. I picked up an octagon serving tray from wayfair for $40 & it was a total piece of crap & fell apart. Considering I'm using Black Limba in the rest of it, the build is currently on hold. I like yours ☺️
Hey man. Awesome playing. I'd like to build something like that. I'm from Argentina. Banjo is not an instrument very popular in my country. So there is no information about the plans, size, and any other technical detayls. Can you send me some information about the construction process please? Sorry about my english, I speak like a monkey. Gracias, saludos desde Argentina, maestro!!!
Hola Matin. Soy del Chaco. Te había compartído un link de una página que está muy buena pero al parecer borrar mi comentario. Cuando quieras repondeme por acáz compartimos nuestros correos electrónicos, y te paso data de construcción que ya recolecté para que te sea más fácil.
Buscá "Banjo Hang out". A ver si así no me borran éste con el nombre del sitio. Hacete un usuario así también podes postear cosas, opinar y/o preguntar.
No truss rods in any of my instruments. I usually laminate 3 or 4 pieces of maple and walnut together, making sure the grain is as nearly vertical as possible. This makes for a very stable neck, which isn't prone to any bowing.
Didn't know George Lucas played the banjo
“Ol Farce is tough wit’im”
I love wood head banjos! That one is lovely, and of course so we’ll played!
Thanks Sue.
Those wood top banjos sure have a nice sound. Great job on the build and the playing.
Thanks Aaron.
a unique appalchian instrument along withe the dulcimer and pickin' stick
Amazing build and playing. Congratulation Maestro!
Thank you!
Amazing! I have never made a musical instrument from wood, except a simple whistle. Any idea where I could find good plans for one?

Thank you. Octagon is a pretty easy shape to make if you have a way to cut the 22.5 degree angles. I use a chop saw that locks in at that angle.
Beautiful Block Rim Build JIm, one of my favourite types of Builds.
Thank you Alan. Just like laying bricks, lol.
sweet build
wonderful sound
Guess I need one.
Wonderful!!!
Thank you Suzy!
You are a great banjo player and luthier! In addition to fiddle 😊
Thanks for your kind words Russ!
That banjo sounds great. ❤
Thank you.
Another beaut! Cherry is a nice wood to work with.
Thanks Noah. Yup, I like cherry.
Wow! Very well done!
Thanks Lou.
Great sound Jim !
Thanks!
Beautiful!!!
Thank you!
How long is the fret board. Is it the same as guitar. And the how long is the string from the bridge to the nut.
Excellent sound, good looking instrument and excellent playing. What else is there to say.
Thank you Tom.

Sabes que te compartí otro con el nombre del sitio web, no con el link y me lo borraron también.😮
Did you put a truss rod in this? Thinking about building one myself.

very neat id love to see someone make a pie pan banjo?
Here's one I made from a cookie tin with a small drum fitted into it.

Here's another with no drum insert.

Awesome! :-D
U selling these?
Yes I do. Otherwise, I'd be buried in banjos!
Do you make your necks? And if so, what kind of wood do you use for them?
Yes, I make my necks. This one is cherry with a center strip of what I think is wenge. The fretboard is walnut.
Is the pot head (no pun intended) also cherry? I haven't seen something like this before.
The head is 3mm Baltic birch ply. Pretty inexpensive and works well.
