They say that one is not truly dead until they are forgotten. Monty Oum will never be forgotten for his productions, his sense of fashion, his energized Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) dance moves, or his willpower fueled work ethic. God's totally going to lose at DDR against Monty.
We will truly miss you Monty. As Caboose once explained, "He's just not here right now" . . .

The fact that they lost someone like Monty, yet the effect he had will continue to make them stronger every day- it proves this man was one of a kind, irreplaceable. Those of you who are fans of his but may not have heard yet, there's a kind of movement going on. It's to just do something creative, no matter what it is and put your entire soul into it. Monty wouldn't want us to go into a stagnant state on his behalf, he'd want us to continue to give this life we have our all. This is going to hurt for a long time, but that won't stop RT from moving forward. We will never stop missing you, Monty.

I.... had.. done something creative. I wrote up two OC teams for RWBY... like really, really in depth teams, with huge histories and deep personalities...
I even came up with a second plot line for the series, to continue it afterwards, to work them into the series. I always meant to send it to either him or Kerry... but I never did. Mainly because I can't draw, just write...
      I regret that now.

Kieran Hughes There's no such thing as "just writing". Writing is hard. You're painting a picture with a pen, so to speak. And that's great.

Well... typing, but yes.... I tried.
I have a ton of things just stuck in my head... Anime's, Manga's, games, DLC's for games, new movies, characters, creatures, weapons, almost anything.
I just don't have anywhere to send them to, and I have no idea how to put them down. Even writing doesn't work... it makes them so pale.

I never really got to "know" Monty that well through the media.. but after listening and watching this podcast.. I realized that I've been wasting so much of my time.. If I lived just one day of my life the way he lived his everyday.. I'd be that much closer to achieving my own dreams and ambitions.. Through the loving, kind.. and thoughtful words of the community surrounding Monty.. I can honestly say that I've been truly inspired.. From this day onward, I'm going to work my ass off, be efficient and possible, and never stop learning.. Thanks, Monty..

I was thinking, what if the RT site page always had a RWBY Rose symbol in the corner of the page to remember Monty by. It wouldn't have to do anything, unless they'd like to make it clickable to lead to a tribute page or something. I was just thinking seeing that rose would remind everyone to always keep moving forward and never let anything hold you back in life.

Its so amazing that even though a lot of people in the comments (including myself) have never even had the privilege to meet Monty, yet we all shed tears and feel sad for his death. Why? Cause everything we saw of his wonderful creations and time in videos, all the stories we've heard of him, have showed us that this was a person who was focused and well loved. Who wanted to make something grand out of life, an inspiration for many. We all love Monty because even though we never met him we still connected with his work. That's such a beautiful thing, he may have died young and it may have been tragic, but I bet he was happy with what he had and what he did. RIP Monty Oum

Monty was an inspiration for all, he loved what he did, he loved life and it's sad that it ended so soon.
But he graced us with his presence by bringing us RWBY and all the rest of his work and I feel honored to have known him.

Glad you guys posted this, I think it helps a lot of folks get over his loss. That might sound weird since we didn't know him. But Monty affected our lives without even having to know us. The Internet has exploded with love for his work and memory and stories of how he changed people's lives. We will miss him greatly but as Monty would want and we all should know, moving on and continuing his work is the most important thing now.......dwelling on his loss only lets the sadness burn deeper into our souls.

A flame that burns twice as bright, burns twice as fast.
I think it's an appropriate quote for Mr. Oum. I remember watching Haloid about... 6 years ago? And since then I have been a fan, it truly is unfair he is gone. Though I will be sure to think of him for many years to come. Everyone that was close to him and all of my fellow fans have my condolences.

  • @agentwisconson

No one in my house likes Rooster Teeth. So when Monty passed away, there was no one I could really talk to about it.
"You didn't even know him, why are you so sad?" "It's not like you were friends." "No, you can't use my credit card to donate money to his wife. It's probably a scam anyway."
Yeah, it was pretty awful to mourn alone.
But when I watched this podcast for the first time, and heard them share stories about Monty and how he affected their lives, I realized that I wasn't alone. I had Burnie, Matt, Gus, Gray, a whole community of people who where mourning him. And just because we weren't in the same room doesn't mean we weren't together.
And for the first time, I finally started to feel okay again.

I really dislike the logic of “you don’t know them, why are you sad?” Why do people get sad when a character dies? Because even if you don’t know them, you GET to know them. You learn who they are as a person, and you feel that loss when they’re gone. This goes even further for real people though. While in a work of fiction, although you feel sad, nobody actually dies. But in cases like these, it’s a real life that was lost, and you see other people you got to know reminiscing about the good times, mentioning countless times that they remembered a story by looking through his office, by looking at old photos, it becomes more real to us.

Watching this as someone every new to watching RT videos it has still brought a tears to my eyes. Someone with so much talent and love for live to be cut short. It totally seemed like he lived with this moment hidden from view but on his mind. Taking every second as valuable time not to be wasted. I can only hope to live my life a faction of the way Monty did. An amazing man who will continue to move people for years to come.

Everybody's got swollen eyes. There must have not been a dry eye in the place all day. I lost my dad recently and know exactly what these poor bastards must have been going through sitting there trying to keep it all together.
I haven't had the heart to touch any hobbies or anything creative since dad went. This reminds me that I really should try to pick things up again and try and make my dreams come true because there's only a finite time to do it in.

Monty died when I was in New York for a funeral (long story) and I had basically lost interest in roosterteeth for a while by then. But for some reason his death hit me really hard. Harder than the death of the person whose funeral I was there for. I had never met Monty but he seems like a person who you would meet once and never forget about the meeting. you know, i applied to rooster teeth like, the day before (or 2) before monty's passing was announced. i found monty right when he started getting popular on youtube and followed him ever since, and it was because of him that i was introduced to rooster teeth and enjoyed not only his, but rooster teeth's work as well. after about 8-9 years of working on my... everything monty does skills (video editing, modeling, art, animation, CG, Rigging, ETC), i finally felt as though i was worthy of working alongside or even under the man who inspired me to be who i am today. after hearing of his passing, i will continue to progress my skill level in everything that monty inspired me to do and also continue to send in applications to you (Rooster Teeth). regardless if i even get hired, just demonstrating to myself that i kept my promise to monty all those years ago to improve myself, will make me happy. thank you monty for your inspiration and thank you rooster teeth for helping him inspire and entertain all of us.

I'l get 1500 likes on a GTAV Lets Play but then 6 on a podcast. I'm not complaining in any way, because honestly I don't want to be top comment or likes. Granted it's nice because you get to talk with a lot of cool people and meet a lot of awesome fans, but it can get annoying especially when you get trolls or haters. The impact he made in my life was huge. I got to see Monty at RTX 2014, and got to speak with him. He told me that I'll get somewhere, and that struck me. Ever since then, I have been creating and producing more art and even appreciating it. I remember being a young kid in middle school and I was so mesmerized by Haloid. I have been a big fan of him ever since. When he started to work at RT, I think it was just fate. But seeing as he has passed, it left a heavy feeling inside of me. All he wanted to ever do in life is to create something and work hard to make something amazing out of it. He has definitely inspired myself and others. As he would say, keep moving forward. I know I'm a little late to comment or even see this podcast, I just needed some extra time to take it all in. I've said several other times how I felt and how great Monty is. So this time I'm not gonna say that, cuz we already know how amazing he was and still is. They talked about him being stopped by limitations, and I believe he truly is limitless. Words cannot describe him; I would have been honored to have met him and its a shame I didn't get the chance. To quote RVB "I don't know why, but I hate goodbyes".... So to sum up, Monty never left us, he simply has found a way to keep moving forward, in a place where he can't be stopped, a place where he can be limitless....We'll keep u in our hearts Monty

It's truly nice to see that on this episode of the podcast, they don't mourn their loss. Instead, they laugh and joke around in celebration and remembrance of their dear friend. It's exactly how everyone should take losses such as this, because i'm sure Monty wouldn't have wanted everyone to simply dwell on the loss and not laugh about the things worth laughing about.
