If anything about the Faulconer score, you can watch some eps/highlight moments with the Faulconer score. On your own or as like a separate reactions. There is definitely a reason the score is still highly debated. I promise it isn't just blind nostalgia like people suggest.

It’s got fun information on all the Ginyu force members like how reccoome got his poses from ballet and so on. Weather it’s officially cannon or not I’m honestly not sure, but that’s always been unclear with a lot of fans with dragon ball stories and media.

I'm Japanese, but this is true information. I think it was in some strategy book. Also, in Japan, there is a CD called Ginyu Special Sentai Song (KPOP), and in the lyrics, Jeice says, ``I'm the No. 2!''

Pretty sure that's already we'll established, Freeza made a huge deal when the Namek destroyed the scouters he had before.

@@HerotsLamentthis has been well established since Friezas introduction. It’s the very reason vegeta was able to sneak around this entire time because the frieza force can’t sense power levels.
Not every reaction series has to have the falconer score. It's nice to have a UA-cam series that sticks with the OG soundtrack especially for anyone who's never watched it that way.

I like the Faulconer score better. I grew up with it, I love it, I think it fits best with what DBZ is to me. That being said, since you watched OG Dragon Ball first I doubt you'll like it as much because the vibe is much more different from OG.
People like to argue a lot about which is better, but here's the real fact: It's largely personal preference. Let people enjoy what they enjoy.
I really suggest the OG score, that's what the production team asked for their vision,and they worked directly with the composer. 🙏

It's funny how Goku ends up protecting Recoome by blocking the energy attacks haha.
It is no coincidence, Goku was protecting him, because unlike Vegeta, he is only interested in fighting, not in killing his enemies, and there have been few times when he has had to do so.
Yeah, Recoom is actually still alive. He's just paralized by Goku's elbow strike and I think Goku was intentionally protecting Recoom from Jeice and Burter's attack.
@hikikomorimx goku is too naive, and Grandpa gohan raised him to be peaceful. vegeta has lived in a ruthless empire where it's killed or killed, so he takes no chances. goku's naivety has helped on some occasions such as sparing vegeta but on other has cost him and his friends dearly ir put them in grave danger like much later in saga (no spoilers)
Some of the people might be confused about when the Faulconer score comes in because the numbering was different in the original Ocean Dub release that fans got back in the day. The show was so heavily edited, with various scenes being outright removed and some episodes fully skipped, that they cut 67 episodes down to 53. (They also painted over the blood and changed the shirts that said HELL to say HFIL, calling it the Home For Infinite Losers, among other edits.)
The OG soundtrack is great but don’t let anyone mislead you into thinking Bruce Faulconer’s score is bad. It’s actually legendary for many fans, especially in action-packed scenes and power-ups it adds an intense, epic feel that makes fights even more hype! If you’re enjoying the OG, that’s awesome, but just know the Faulconer version is equally loved. It’s your choice, and whatever version you watch, DBZ is an amazing journey!

Agreed that the Faulconer score hits different for power up scenes. It’s unfortunate that Funimation did force them to always be playing music even when silence could have worked better. But certain scenes with Faulconer just get you so hyped up.

@Melkac That’s a weak argument. Nostalgia might play a role for some fans, but that doesn’t change the fact that Bruce Faulconer’s score is genuinely epic. It enhances the intensity of battles, makes power-ups feel larger-than-life, and has a unique style that many prefer. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s bad. People have different tastes respect that instead of trying to discredit others for enjoying what they love.
This wasn't Goku having fun. Goku has fun with _tough_ fights against strong opponents. Burter and Jeice are far too weak for Goku to be having fun. He _does_ want them to throw their best at him, but not for the reason you think - he wants to discourage them. He wants them to try everything they can so that they realize they don't stand a chance, give up, and leave in peace. He didn't do that with Recoome because of what Recoome did to Gohan (and Krillin). These two hadn't hurt anybody yet, so he was trying to show them mercy.
He's not having fun. He's making fun of them.
Ultimately everyone needs to understand that Faulconer didn't want constant music. That was all a studio decision where he had to compromise. There are moments where he tried to legally used as little music as possible (but still had to be constant ofc). I still prefer his soundtracks in the later arcs, but I'm just glad you're still enjoying the show no matter how you're watching it!
I hate how everyone calls it the Falconer score despite the fact He literally made like 3 or 4 songs and then had nothing to do with literally any of the other ones. And yet he stole all the credit and didn't credit any of his 3 co composers who made pretty much everything else.

Fun fact: Toriyama's son was watching Super Sentai (Power rangers basically, without the heavy Americanisation) and that's how he came up with the Ginyu Force. That's why they do the goofy poses, like the Power Rangers. Even the Ginyus are colour coded like the PRs.

I grew up with the Faulconer soundtrack and now as an adult. I prefer the OG. It just matches the theme and vibe of Toriyama’s original vision better. The Faulconer soundtrack has its moments but it is a remnant of a past marketing strategy to make Dragon Ball appeal to western audiences. People are entitled to their opinions but I’m convinced that people who claim it’s superior are blinded by pure nostalgia
Well, you would be wrong. We just prefer the variety. And the music still holds up to this day.

we have to agree to disagree i can't watch z with the og music it just has a very action movie bombastic vibe i will always agree the music should be used less but for the moments that count (as far as z is concerned the fights) i think faulconer music works better. OG dragon ball has a very adventure/kung fu movie vibe the the japanese soundtrack is perfect for.

One fun thing about Vegeta's favorite legend, "Super Saiyan," as a word combo, is the way the Japanese pronounce Super. Super is an English word that is very beloved in Japan. While they have their own word for "Super," which is chō, the English word "Super" carries it's own connotations. Sūpā (Soo-Pah, though sometimes pronounced with more of Zoo-Pah pronunciation) sounds soo good when followed by Saiyan, or the Japanese pronunciation Saiya-jin (sigh-ya jeen). I'm a nut for effective alliteration lol. Japanese love their foreign loan words, and took a liking to Super in the early 20th century thanks to western concepts like "Super Markets" and "Super Heroes." It's one of the reasons we have Super Mario, and he wears a cape in that game.
The Japanese Dub always made SUPAH SAIYAJIN sound so cool lol.
The legend is a fun peak into Saiyan culture, and the language bit is a fun bit of Japanese culture.

I prefer the bruce version, but I'll keep watching anyways. Not all of the bruce falcnor music is metal its a wide range of music and the next saga has some very iconic music.
Some people prefer watching short DBZ videos with Linkin Park music...
I would say goku isnt so much toying with them because he wants them to suffer its more he wants to try all the cool stuff hes pretty sure he can do after the 100g training...hes testing his new powers in real time
Goku usually lets his enemies give it their all before ending the fight.
It's not that he plays with them or tries to test the results of his training, it's that they are too slow for him.

Faulcaner doesnt let the beat rest..which makes fights scenes or extreme moments more exciting..but doesnt use silence as much or when needed like the OG did
From what I heard the studio wanted music wall to wall music. He wanted silence in some parts but the studio wouldn’t allow it. But he comprised in some areas where the music is super sparse.

In the original Japanese, Jeice speaks with a very distinct casual rough accent, from Osaka I think. That’s why for the English dub, they gave him an Australian accent

There are a few episodes or scenes where Faulconer works pretty well, and the Ginyus' whole vibe fits with the wall-to-wall guitars just dominate early on, but IMO, it takes a while before Faulconer got enough leeway to let the episode breathe. You're ... about halfway there.
What he does with Vegeta's big scenes tends to be especially popular all around, though.

Correct. Funimation didn't own the rights to Dragon Ball Z in America until the end of the Ginyu Saga. Prior to that, Ocean Group did the American Dub to Dragon Ball Z with a completely different voice cast and musical score.
oh man, the Bruce Falconer score is the best way to watch Z. For me, it adds so much emotion to every scene
I don’t like Falconer version too much music and less silent moment. Also outside of US we grew up with original japanese score

I remeber before when someone else was reacting to dbz and they didn't use the fouconer score. A lot of people were angry and eventually the reactor had to stop reacting to dbz because they were getting too much hate comments.

The truth is that these battles in which Goku has plenty of strength and power feel somewhat heavy. He doesn't take down enemies quickly like Vegeta would, Goku just plays with them. At this point Goku is stronger than any of Frieza's soldiers, including the Ginyu soldiers. Let's see if he finishes them off quickly.
As someone who create music and like both version I think OG soundtrack is better and show Japan culture; emotions; music instruments etc... meanwhile Faulconer is like you said more electronic with guitars - at the time that's how studio were thinking to show of "power" - which is kind of good because than Bleach OST kind of took it hehe... both good but it's better to watch OG like most pp on the planet... Most pp who watch 1st whatever version will chose that version by pure nostalgia - which create some kind of war is someone will chose whatever version xD... well the best thing you can do is watch both version force USA pp to go your Patreon and react/critic the ost hehe... ;) I wish you the best :)

Remember that she's 10 episodes ahead of this upload right now. She's probably already made her decision on the OST moving forward, and my guess is that she kept with the OG Soundtrack in the end. The Faulconer score is better as a standalone OST in my eyes. It has similar issues to the Johnson score in the fact that it never knows when to shut up and relies too heavily on synth at times. The music is great on its own, and it has some of the most iconic named tracks in the series, but it's definitely not great at setting the mood or giving some moments the silence they deserve. I'd list some of my favorite Faulconer score tracks, but most of them have spoilers in the name of the track.
I love the Faulconer track. To me, it really embodies the vibe of DBZ from this point on.
That being said, for someone who has been watching with the OG track since DB, I kind of think you'll disagree.
And though I'll be sad if we don't get Faulconer, I'll understand.

Yes, Bardock certainly adds an extra spice to the final battle. I believe she will at least watch Dead Zone, there is no way to skip him if she wants to watch the Garlick arc.

OG just doesn't fit the fights as well as the Faulconer score in DBZ. It fits just fine in Dragon Ball but the fight scenes are on a whole other level in Z
@HobbyFriend Agreed, and the English voices honestly don't really work for the OG either. People like to say Faulconer's score doesn't ever let up, but the english voices do the very same thing. They talk at moments their should be dead silence, unlike the Japanese voices. To me, the Japanese voices suit the OG score much better than the English does.

Recoom, Jeice and Burter are around within the same power level range of between 40,000 to 45,000. Goku was able to defeat all 3 of them easily because he is around 90,000. But the thing is, is that Captain Ginyu is 3 times stronger than Recoom, Jeice and Burter each. That means that Captain Ginyu's power level is estimated around 120,000 at minimum to 135,000 at maximum. So yeah Captain Ginyu is stronger than Goku, unless Goku uses the Kaio-ken to fight Ginyu.
Oh and also Frieza is 4 times stronger than Captain Ginyu, that means that Frieza's power level is around 480,000 to 540,000. Yeah Frieza is an absolute unit!
Captain Ginyu is 120,000
Frieza is 530,000

You can't imagine how it seems for us, like a cheap dumbed down version for people who are unable to hear a japanese soundtrack. I know you're nostalgic. But we are too, we grew up with the OG (in Europe, nearly everywhere in the world except the US).

I’ll just say I don’t think OG music matches well with DBZ in the long haul. It was perfect for OGDB and I guess the early episodes of DBZ but once we get into the magnitude of the fights to come faulconer is superior. It adds a ton from just getting hyped to the emotional moments. I grew up watching DB and faulconer is really the one that stuck with me and I’d say the majority of the community. Hope you reconsider :)
Homestly, as someone who watched the dub with thr Faulkner music, there's a few songs I really enjoy, but I can totally understand not wanting to use it. I think the two scores are honestly about equal.
What I’ll say about both scores, overall the original is superior in my opinion, the lack of silence with the falconer kinda ruins it for me even if it does bring a nostalgic vibe. They’re are certainly moments later in the show that are hard to imagine without the falconer score so when we get to those you should give them it a try.

About Frieza not sensing all the fights: The Scouters are pretty short range typically, they can only cover so much distance. Frieza was basically on the other side of the planet and Namek is HUGE - possibly bigger than Earth.
If ordinary people on earth were hit by this pile of rocks like Buma, they would definitely be dead.
In "Dragon Ball", since Akira Toriyama originally drew comedy comics, there are many "manga-style" illogicalities.
Who else think suzy's vegeta imitations are spot on? 😂
Suzy the faulconer score is not just rock music. It enhances most of the iconic scenes even more. Atleast give yourself half a dozen episodes to hear the full scope. It is in my and most other reactors opinion the best version

It sucks for Faulconer fans, but I don't think that version ever had a chance. It's tonally very different than what Suzy's used to associating Dragon Ball with, so changing scores now would be too jarring. Not to mention it never has any moment of silence, like the Johnson score she mentioned not liking.
Anyway, now that's it's been decided that she won't be switching scores, I think it'd be fair for Suzy to at least rewatch the most iconic scenes or episodes in her own time with the Faulconer score. It's a nice compromise since obviously there's no way for everyone to be pleased. But hey, Kai fans have survived so far and I'm sure Faulconer enjoyers can do the same.
After the the Namek saga you gotta switch audio tracks cuz it builds up the villains so much better then the OG I’ve watch both and the vibes it gives for the villain is so good it’s so hard to describe without giving spoilers 😂

As someone who grew up on the Faulconer score and loves it, please stick with the Johnson score. This is the first time I watch it like this and I really like it. It’s easy and fits better for someone who’s watching straight from DB

They're both just aware enough of the situation to know that either of them attacking Goku first would be a mistake, so they want to trip him up, but he knows they aren't actually a threat and isn't taking the bait.

This is the episode you need to switch to the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack, it’s the true way to experience the series from 67 onwards.

I recommend watching and rendering judgment of the Falconer score in private.
The risk of reacting in public is too great, as there are too many Falconer fans watching your channel. If you dont like it, the backlash can be enormous.
As you have already encountered, some Dragonball fans can be... a handful.
