Terence Fisher was director for Hammer movies . This site is pointless. If you want details on any movie than watch making of . They are all on UA-cam. The jerk who puts this rubbish together doesn’t even do good rubbish. It’s embarrassing and full of crap
The most lasting part of the movie for me...as always, was Shirley Bassey singing GOLD-FINGER. That song still whirls around every time you hear it. PURE....GOLD!
The first James bond movie I saw was the spy who loved me, and I thought it was the best, then I saw golfinger in a movie club, and become a fan of James Bond
Although the film doesn't make any sense at all (crushing a Lincoln Continental - axles, engine and all - into a cube that would weigh much more than the vehicle transporting it back to Goldfinger; five light planes supposedly sufficient to spray a metropolitan area with nerve gas), the whole thing was done with such fine pacing and flair that it remains entertaining, except for feminists (Bond slaps Dink on her tush and tells her to "run along - man talk"!).
@@weveri6 Yes. Being in the auto repair business, the first thing that came to mind, especially the the Lincoln is picked up by the crane and we see the engine is missing, is all the other parts fitting into a 2X2X2 foot cube would require it be melted down and poured into a mold.
The frisbee hat was cool when I was 12 years old. Now, I find it stupid. As with most everything about the early Bond movies, beginning with Goldfinger. The only one that I can stand now is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." Mostly because of Diana Rigg. The decision to ditch the camp and go back to a grittier, more realistic Bond did wonders for the franchise. In short, Connery's reservations about where Bond was headed were correct. The formula got seats in theaters filled, but it got stale.
I met him on the set of "Impulse" in Palm Beach in the 70s. He smoked a Sherlock Holmes-style pipe and was, indeed, a kind and gracious gentleman. PS; He was almost killed on the set that night doing his own stunt. Very frightening.
Thanks so much for this, as a bond fan for over 50 years, the visualisation that there were two guys under the table, with a light and a cutting saw to replicate a laser cutting bond between his legs a priceless moment.
Many years ago, I visited an aircraft factory in Switzerland. When we drove in I remember thinking I had seen the place before somewhere - of course I had. It had been used for the external shots of Goldfinger's Swiss lair ! The mapping on the tracker in the Aston Martin is correct.
Yeah, I've never understood the hate Thunderball gets. It's not quite as good as Goldfinger or From Russia With Love, but for me it's definitely the third best (of Connery's films) after that. It's easily one of the most stylish of the Bond films, a time capsule of pure 60s glamour. And the underwater battle scene still holds up today, which is more than can be said for some of the later denouements (cough Moonraker cough cough). An amazing piece of action choreography. I'd definitely rate it among the top 5 or 6 Bond films of all time.

By today's standards, it was pretty basic except for the phone in the door, tele-screen & ejector button! It was great fun to be in a place where one of the most famous films of the year was made!

I must have made quite a disturbance because they never stopped for ANYTHING until our destination LOL
I had a similar experience at the 1965 New York World’s Fair. I was about to enter 5th Grade and my older sister was a flight attendant (stewardess) stationed at JFK who invited me to NYC. The DB5 was surrounded by red velvet ropes but my sister talked the security guy into letting me take photos of the interior, so in I went! Agree about Goldfinger, but I always felt Connery looked tired and fed up with the role by YOLT. There are some great set pieces and Donald Pleasance is by far the best Blofeld of all time, but Connery's performance really lets it down for me- he just isn't really trying as hard any more by that point (kind of reminds me of Daniel Craig in Spectre- Bored, James Bored as Honest Trailers put it). Miles better than Diamonds Are Forever or Never Say Never Again, though, of course- by that point he really didn't give a shit, and the movies are awful generally as well. For my money the best Connery Bond film (so, the best Bond film) is a tie between Goldfinger and From Russia With Love, though (unlike many people) I also rate Thunderball highly.
One of my favorite Bond outings was ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but the favorite Bond is Sean Connery .-but “This never happened to the other fellow.”….was a worthy turn indeed
@@terrymurphy2032 Such a fe vent Scottish Nationalist that he rarely set foot in the country. When Robbie Coltrane was asked if Sean Connery should be the first president of an independent Scotland he replied "We'd have to tempt him out of Marbella first".
Surprised that your channel didn't bring up the subject of Jack Lord. They were going to bring him back as Felix Leiter but Lord wanted more money, a bigger role AND co-billing with Connery.
“Goldfinger” was my first Bond movie at age 12. I was absolutely mesmerized by it and became a huge Bond fan (well, of the Sean Connery Bond films, anyway). “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” are my 2 favorite Bond films. Claudine Auget (Domino in “Thunderball”) was and still is my all time favorite Bond Girl. Sean Connery is far and away my favorite James Bond actor. He is perfectly cast in this role.
One of the best Bond books! The name Goldfinger came from the English Brutalist architect Erno Goldfinger who had recently designed Trellik and Balfron Towers in London. Fleming had met him at a London party. The two towers are still iconic, now listed, buildings, and the flats (apartments) are greatly sought after places to live.
Connery's Bond (the ONLY Bond) never looked better than this, his hair, style, charm, everything. The Bond movie that set the benchmark for ALL to follow
I watched Goldfinger as a double feature along with From Russia With Love when the film came out in the USA. It would be hard to disagree that Goldfinger is the best of the Bond movies.
From Russia With Love for me. Still raw but developing quickly. Loved Donald Pleasance and Nancy Sinatra's title song in You Only Live Twice as well. More recently Goldeneye, Casino Royale & Skyfall.
I, and my friend Leo Burdylo walked together to the old Grand Theatre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada after our grade ten high school classes at Saint Mary's High School on January 20, 1966 to watch the new Bond movie: 'Goldfinger'. ( It was bitterly cold}... I think it must have been at least -10 degrees F ( and probably even lower than that! ) when we walked the long 10 blocks to that movie theatre. This was a pretty special afternoon for us ,as we didn't go (or could afford to go ) anywhere after high school in those days -except to take the tedious Calgary Transit System electric buses back to our homes in the Kingsland and Haysboro districts. . So, this was something (a little) out of the ordinary for us, to be sure. I well remember being transfixed by this movie, in particular the opening scenes before the movie proper started. That was a long time ago. But the feelings it elicited remain with me today- and I am in my early seventies! People: Your life is over so fast, that you barely have time to reflect on what happened. Where did it go? Let your children in on that, if they are still talking to you. (ha, ha).
This is still my favourite Bond film. It has the best James Bond, best villain, best henchman and best Bond song in my opinion. I always loved the scene in Fort Knox when Bond is handcuffed to the bomb and Goldfinger simply says " Goodbye Mr Bond" and walks away. No long speech which goes on and on, but simple and effective. The famous Laser Beam scene is also still brilliant, and of course the Aston Martin DB5.
Precisely, how can they submit such a mistake. It is a complete demonstration of their ignorance, regarding the James Bond movies, and also the fact that they did very little research for this video.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Roger Moore in "The Spy Who Loved Me" That movie had all best characteristics of a James Bond film and the opening theme was mesmerizing, agent Triple X was gorgeous, and JAWS was an unrelenting menace! Don't get me wrong I love Sean Connery too, but I grew up watching Roger Moore as he first came on the scene in "Live and let Die" which also has a great opening theme
Went to see Roger Moore twice during his “An Audience With Roger Moore”, both times in Manchester, the second in October 2016 and he was brilliant! I’m sure he must been ill with cancer as he passed away in March 2017 😓
Loved rogers films and his potrayal of the character, he said that the character of Bond was "total bollocks", and that is how he played him, the guy is supposed to be a spy, able to blend in, and yet he can walk into any bar in the world, and the barman will greet him with "ah, Mr Bond".
This is my favorite Shawn Conery bond movie and the DB Martin I think is one of the neatest cars, which is still used in other bond movies, what a classic
Okay, Goldfinger is my favourite Bond followed by From Russia With Love and Thunderball. This is a good piece with a minor (major to some) faux pas: Terence Young (not Fisher) was the architect of the movie series and Connery's Bond movie character. Connery himself has credited Young with shaping him in that role. These early films, Goldfinger included, were something fresh in the movies of the early Sixties. Thank you for this.
Sean Connery’s Bond was essentially Terence Young’s real life persona. Connery had a rough and tumble, lower class upbringing who, until becoming an actor, had an almost indecipherable Scottish accent. Young taught Connery how to dress, walk, and speak… and introduced the “fine living playboy” image into the character. Terence Young deserves much of the credit for creating the iconic screen character now synonymous with Bond.
When I first saw Tania Mallet it was love at first sight. Wow, what a beautiful and wholesome woman all at once. Later discovered her cousin is Helen Mirren. What a family.
Facts Verse, Bond was portrayed in the novels as living an upper-middle-class lifestyle, not an upper-crust one. He used an expense account - and had to justify it. And i believe that he could afford his housekeeper only two days a week.
Corgi produced a toy of the Aston Martin that I received as a Christmas present. It had all the gadgets - rotating plates, rear bullet proof pop up screen, rockets, ejector seat and goon. Damn, wish I still had that!
2:15 - That is in fact Terence Fisher who is best known for directing Hammer horror films. The actual director of the first two Bond films was Terence Young, however.
I saw that when it came out in San Francisco with my Brother & Father. There was a lot of build up to the movie so as kids we were really excited, and the movie came through on all counts.
As an 8 yr old, Bond was the man to me. He had the cars, the girls and the adventure. What else was there? I even had the popular James Bond attache case. A hidden gun to fight your way in, a hidden camera that worked to snap those neighborhood older teenage girls and plenty of room to store the Batman comics.
I had the toy Aston Martin DB5. It had a button on the back of it where you could make the bad guy eject out of the car. I wish I had that toy today. $$$$
You're wrong about Gert Frobe (Goldfinger) not being able to speak English, his English was fine he just had a very heavy accent. If you search n Google you can even find a clip of him speaking dialogue before it was overdubbed.
Mr frobe had a role in another ian Fleming movie and spoke broken English but was very understandable. The movie was chitty chitty bang bang. The character Q was also in the movie.
I grew up alongside Bond movies. We would queue for ages to get into our cinema to see them. They were breath taking and new. Russia with Love was my favourite it showed Bond as a violent thug which was faithful to the Flemming story, not reprised until Daniel Craig appeared.
My favourite Bond film is Goldfinger, followed very closely by From Russia with Love. Goldfinger wins only because it really set a fire under the franchise. I watch the Blu Ray every December, the month I saw it for the first time. Brings back memories of different times. Both films have outstanding theme songs.
A good way to learn about Bond and Fleming was the movie Becoming Bond, which goes through Fleming during the war and what he learned, which made its way to the novels. It's hard to say a favorite Bond film, since even bad ones may have great scenes. The Living Daylights is imho one of the top 5 films, yet rarely mentioned. I suppose with From Russia, Goldfinger, and Thunderball one can see the rise, peak, and (slight) decline of the Bond formula, with some films getting close. Casino Royale would be my number 4.
Good video and good voice-over but you really need them to work on the closed captions. I.E., somehow Goldfinger's first name Auric (referring to gold, of course) became Arik and Harold Sakata is referred to as a giant locust! LOL
1) Goldfinger 2) You Only Live Twice 3) From Russia With Love 4) Live & Let Die. Sean was the best, makes me feel sad for the rest. No one did it quite as good as him.......He was simply the BEST!!! RIP 007
Used to be my favorite Bond film was "LIVE AND LET DIE" in 1973, when Moore became Bond, but I was only 12 1/2 years old; later on in life, I changed my mind: now my FAVORITE BOND MOVIE now is "GOLDFINGER".
This remains my favorite. This one also stands out because a few years later one of the 2 DB 5's for the movie was available for sale. It was on a promotional tour at a radio station where a family member worked. I was just a teen, tried to get my folks to purchase it for $10.5K, a hefty sum then. They thought I was nuts, in the end, the radio station manager purchased it and only a few years sold it for 4.8M. He wanted 10M, but of course, that was not meant to be!
While visiting New York the original Goldfinger Aston Martin was on display in front of the Russian Tea Room. I took several pictures of it and talked to gentleman in charge of the exhibit.
I think Goldfinger is the best Bond movie by far. I commanded a Basic Training Company at Knox a few years after the movie but the aerial shots of the flyover were right over the Company area. I always get a kick of looking at the old PT fields and Company streets
Goldfinger had one of the two best "villain explains his diabolical plan" scenes on film (the other being the one in Gunga Din). Yes, they're a tad unrealistic, but they're so dramatic! And for once, it was somewhat more realistic than the novel, where Goldfinger was somehow planning to truck thousands of tons of gold and load it onto a soviet cruiser.
This movie was actually filmed on Fort Knox. Fort Knox is an active US Army installation. The scenes of soldiers marching and being gassed were filmed on post. The scenes in the gold depository were filmed in a studio. The gold depository is actually outside the gates of FT. Knox.
My all time favorite Bond???? Has to be You Only Live Twice....I mean the view of the throw down in the heart of the volcano. On the big cinema screen..Wow!! Plus the theme song by Ms. Sinatra...smooth..... with all the rice paper umbrellas. Then, there is Moonraker with the same throw down in space...only Bond could be so overblown.
Goldfinger was not the first Bond theme to be sung by a popular vocalist. From Russia With Love had Matt Monro crooning its also memorable theme. Also, the video subtitles are ridden with spelling errors.
I was in engineering school when I first saw "Goldfinger". I remember the great laugh that I and my fellow budding engineers had during the segment where a dead henchman was disposed of by having him inside a big Mercedes that was being crushed at a scrap yard. The car was reduced to a bale and then loaded into a tiny Ford pick-up truck. Everyone was expecting the truck to be forced down on its axles from the weight. But the truck reacted as if the crushed Mercedes weighed about 20 pounds.
Sean Connery is James Bond. But know lives for ever (RIP). Roger Moore was no exception and my favorite Moore film was FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. Very provocative.

For my money the best Connery Bond film (so, the best Bond film) is a tie between Goldfinger and From Russia With Love, though (unlike many people) I also rate Thunderball highly.
Connery is widely criticized for YOLT. He's bored and flabby. Not that you can blame him in the context of ridiculous media hounding
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Glad you're a Sean and Goldfinger fan ❣
One of my favorite Bond outings was ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but the favorite Bond is Sean Connery .-but “This never happened to the other fellow.”….was a worthy turn indeed
I literally made that exact statement to a coworker today! I really liked George Lazenby! But Sean Connery was my favorite!
@@mmills5951 Ditto….exactly feel the same. Barry did the opening score whose production was among the best of any movie since.
@@terrymurphy2032 Such a fe vent Scottish Nationalist that he rarely set foot in the country. When Robbie Coltrane was asked if Sean Connery should be the first president of an independent Scotland he replied "We'd have to tempt him out of Marbella first".
OHMSS was one of my favorites too!
Goldfinger is by far my favorite Bond movie, partly for all of the things surrounding Bond, but partly for the character of Mr. Goldfinger himself.
Nice pick! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We're very happy to know that Goldfinger is your favorite Bond film 🎩
Surprised that your channel didn't bring up the subject of Jack Lord. They were going to bring him back as Felix Leiter but Lord wanted more money, a bigger role AND co-billing with Connery.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for letting know all the facts I didn't know. Keep up your amazing work.
Thanks for watching! We're so glad you enjoyed this video. What other types of videos would you like to see?
One of the best Bond books! The name Goldfinger came from the English Brutalist architect Erno Goldfinger who had recently designed Trellik and Balfron Towers in London. Fleming had met him at a London party. The two towers are still iconic, now listed, buildings, and the flats (apartments) are greatly sought after places to live.
Fun stuff, thank you for sharing this! Is Goldfinger your favorite Bond movie?
"Do you expect me to talk?"
" No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die! "
So. Michael collins. Actually says this?????
Connery's Bond (the ONLY Bond) never looked better than this, his hair, style, charm, everything. The Bond movie that set the benchmark for ALL to follow
Without a doubt, you are correct. Goldfinger was absolutely the best James Bond movie thus far. Odd Job was a great villain.
Thanks for watching!
I watched Goldfinger as a double feature along with From Russia With Love when the film came out in the USA. It would be hard to disagree that Goldfinger is the best of the Bond movies.
Thanks for watching!
(ha, ha).
Live and let die .One of the best and best opening song
love every bond movie
I know Sean got tired of the role but he was the best Bond. And a very accomplished actor in every way.
I loved all the Bond movies.
Which one is your favorite though? 😊
As a kid I learning the saxophone I memorized the opening 15 second song "Into Miami", still love it today.
Thanks for watching!
Connery set the bar on absolute top 👌 !!!! Craig # 2 !! My favorite is To Russia with Love !
I think you mean From Russia with love
The theme song from Goldfinger was fantastic
Thanks for watching!
Glad to know that you love Goldfinger! What other types of videos would you like to see?
Sean Connery ( RIP ) Will always be the best Bond !! Fav Bond movie you only live twice !
No, "Dr. No" and "From Russia With Love" was directed by Terence Young not by Terence Fisher.
As a lifelong Bond afficianado that really bugged me.
You're right
Precisely, how can they submit such a mistake. It is a complete demonstration of their ignorance, regarding the James Bond movies, and also the fact that they did very little research for this video.
Not a great example of 'Facts' Verse.
At least they got the correct photo for the narration. That is Terence Fisher who was a really good director. He made most of the best Hammer films.
Goldfinger! He's the man, the man with the midas touch...(cue instrumentals)
Best Bond movie by far. My favorite part is the entire movie including the theme and Shirley Bassey singing it.
Nah. To me Moore was just smug. Not charming. Not mischievous.Just not Sean.
Loved rogers films and his potrayal of the character, he said that the character of Bond was "total bollocks", and that is how he played him, the guy is supposed to be a spy, able to blend in, and yet he can walk into any bar in the world, and the barman will greet him with "ah, Mr Bond".
@@redlightspellsdanger7177 Roger Moore actually died in May, i was on board a cruise ship and it was the talk of the dinner table.
Roger Moore was a great Bond, but Connery had set the bar impossibly high! Still, mega-kudos to Moore for being such a great Bond!!
This is my favorite Shawn Conery bond movie and the DB Martin I think is one of the neatest cars, which is still used in other bond movies, what a classic
Just a quick correction but the director of Dr. No and FRWL was Terrence Young, not Terrence Fisher
Thanks for watching!
And From Russia with love had Matt Monroe singing theme tune
Sean Connery’s Bond was essentially Terence Young’s real life persona. Connery had a rough and tumble, lower class upbringing who, until becoming an actor, had an almost indecipherable Scottish accent. Young taught Connery how to dress, walk, and speak… and introduced the “fine living playboy” image into the character. Terence Young deserves much of the credit for creating the iconic screen character now synonymous with Bond.
Goldfinger was and still is the best Bond film. Sean Conner WAS James Bond.
I agree 100 % ...Jack.

Me too! I wish I had kept that little Corgi toy!
2:15 - That is in fact Terence Fisher who is best known for directing Hammer horror films. The actual director of the first two Bond films was Terence Young, however.
Thanks for watching!
I had that briefcase as well. Pretty cool or at least we thought.
I had both the Car and the briefcase. Wow what they would be worth today?
Nice job! I used to own all the Bond movies up to Skyfall (2012) I haven't seen the last two yet.
Sings: "Don't get around much anymore."
Watch Skyfall. I think it and Goldfinger are the two best Bond films.
He was the best 007. I liked Roger Moore but Sean was the best.

Thanks for watching!
My favourite Bond film is Goldfinger, followed very closely by From Russia with Love. Goldfinger wins only because it really set a fire under the franchise. I watch the Blu Ray every December, the month I saw it for the first time. Brings back memories of different times. Both films have outstanding theme songs.
From Russia with Love was the best Bond film IMO. great plot that was believable and the opening where Bond appears to be killed was great.
Thanks for watching!
That was "You Only Live Twice" where Bond was killed by machine guns then given a burial at sea.
@@brittlyle3523 I was referring to the fake Bond killed by the Russian assassin for practice in the opening scenes of From Russia with Love
@@jimmorris8519 Gotcha'
A good way to learn about Bond and Fleming was the movie Becoming Bond, which goes through Fleming during the war and what he learned, which made its way to the novels. It's hard to say a favorite Bond film, since even bad ones may have great scenes. The Living Daylights is imho one of the top 5 films, yet rarely mentioned. I suppose with From Russia, Goldfinger, and Thunderball one can see the rise, peak, and (slight) decline of the Bond formula, with some films getting close. Casino Royale would be my number 4.
Thanks for watching!
RIP 007
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
One of the originals was stolen and never recovered!
Thanks for watching!
We strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
Gold finger and from Russa with love are my two favorites

This is my favorite Bond movie!

From Russia With Love
Big mistake at 2:10 .....There is no director called Terence Fisher, it was Terence Young who directed Dr No, From Russia With Love and Thunderball.
This movie was actually filmed on Fort Knox. Fort Knox is an active US Army installation. The scenes of soldiers marching and being gassed were filmed on post. The scenes in the gold depository were filmed in a studio. The gold depository is actually outside the gates of FT. Knox.
Thanks for watching!
best bond film, the next one. BTW you have an awesome voice.
The Greatest opening in the Bond series!
I liked some other others, but I think Goldfinger was the best.

I think you mean *riddled* with spelling errors.
Thunderball and Live and Let Die are my all time favourites!
Goldfinger is my favourite. Regards from Australia 🇦🇺🤓
Nice James Bond film! Take care there in Australia!
Thanks for watching!
The car being crushed was a Lincoln
For me “From Russia with love” was my favourite James Bond adventure, but I love Gold, & have always invested in the metal. 😎
