- Thanks to UC Davis Medical Center, Brenda Jensen spoke without electronic assistance for the first time in more than a decade. The Modesto resident had undergone an historic larynx (voice box) transplant on Oct. 16, 2010. She and her transplant team were eager to find out whether the surgery -only the second documented case in the world - had been successful. Brenda returned to Sacramento and we caught up with her after one of her regular visits to UC Davis' Dept. of Otolaryngology.

She got a good result but that 1st transplant " Tim Heidler" got an excellent result. His voice is a lot better than many ppl with normal-sounding male voices.
This soo much complicated than it looks soo the people who did this risky surgery and succeeded I am proud of then
I wish there was a update 2021 of how both of them are doing?
My name is Jeziel Almeida, I live in Brasília and I have had a total laryngectomy for 4 years. I would like more information about this equipment, can you help?
UC Davis Health are you still doing Larynx transplants? Thanks so much.
I was thinking that the recipient would sound like the donor
She doesn't?
Well her voice probably changed but this women probably has a different mouth/tongue size and she may speak with a different dialect language is more than just your vocal chords
Beautiful
Can you have it without the button to talk to ... Like before laryngectomy

Mayo Clinic is allowed to do a couple per year. I think it's the only program in the U.S., and it's still extremely experimental.
