It's the Quarter Final, and the remaining potters face a challenge inspired by Native American Acoma pottery - a 30cm olla pot and a 10cm seed jar traditionally fired in cow dung. Judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller are looking for finesse, and Peter soars to new heights.

Yeah seeing him get emotional at seeing beautiful work done by the contestants shows his real passion for the craft
It's so nice to see someone who is so supportive and someone who is being supported. These are people at their best. How lovely.
I cry everytime Keith does. He just exudes love and joy for the work the contestants do,and when he sees them improving over the weeks he just can't contain himself. I love it.

*AT THE BEGINNING OF LOCKDOWN* I started making my own clothes. As it went on I got better and better and they got good enough to actually wear in public and them one day...
Someone stopped me in the street and told me how good my clothes looked - I NEARLY DIED... I didn't cry, I was too shocked to cry LOL
But I know how he feels.
Yes indeed it is good to get a complement. For many years I didn't know how to take a complement. I always thought people had an Alterio motive. But in recent years I learned to just say thank you very much that's very nice of you very kind of you to say and leave it at that they aren't insulted and I feel a little bit pleased because I think I might of done something well and that someone to comment. It's also good to give a compliment. One time in my younger days when I was working lady came up to me to be served in my shop and she was wearing a two of shades of mauve and she had a greying hair and lovely make up. I was struck straight away by how pretty she looked and how well the colours suited her. So I said "that colour really suits you. You must feel pleased when you wear it " Her eyes filled up and she smiled and said that she was so grateful for my comment because she'd just had herself colour-coded and these were the colours they said she should wear but she never worn them before, and she didn't know whether it was all a load of hogwash or not. She went away feeling very confident and grateful to me because I had, unsolicited, told her the truth, that she looked good.
@@PetroicaRodinogaster264 - OH what a lovely story. I live in Bulgaria now and people hare are very free with their complements. It is normal for a stranger to stop you and tell you how nice you look if you do indeed look nice. And this is a lovely way to live.
Its funny, when I first moved here I thought they were the rudest most miserable people the Bulgarians - I could not be more wrong. They just express it differently to my culture in the UK...
I love this show, the best of humanity.
What a thoroughly engrossing and wonderful programme. I pray that it will be shown on Italian tv but won't be holding my breath. Fantastic, at least I can see snippets here

Randomly discovered today that this is Brad Pitt's favourite show!
Tried watching the beebs jewellery one and neither judge seems to have any real love for their craft.
For the slightly wonky pots Keith always finds a way to focus on the good bits which makes him stand out as being passionate about what he does and desire to get others to that same level.

Why are ceramics so profoundly satisfying to our instinct for creation? I would rather possess an elegantly crafted piece of ceramic or porcelain than an object made of silver or gold.
Humans are apes that cook. Cooking is so deeply engrained in us that we tend to forget it is unique amongst all life on Earth. Thus, it is quite possible that through evolution, an appreciation for the tools of cooking is built into the very structure of our brains

This guy constantly cries
This is a great programme, spin off from Bake Off as is Sewing Bee. All three of these shows work really well because contestants come across well, as do the presenters and judges. Each has a rapport and enthusiasm with one another as such are enjoyed by the viewers.
We know have a new one, All That Glitters...unfortunately, this is lacklustre and not in the same league. Its not the contestants at fault, but presenter and judges. I'm sure the judges are skilled in jewelry making, but its obvious they are TV shy and not put at ease by the presenter.
Presenter is Catherine Ryan, a so called comedienne. Her voice is harsh and grates on ones' nerves, there is no warmth in her. She doesn't have the ability to connect with the others and appears too involved in her own looks (looks like botox etc, hence expressionless). Too aloof. Plus her humour was unnecessarily crass, such as comment she made to Asian contestant to "think like a white man, especially Boris"...another to jeweller of the week about his DNA being that of her child. She seems as though she doesn't really want to be there and all is beneath her. Another woke, who if she doesn't like our political landscape should consider returning to Canada where possibly she wasn't a success.
Anyway, feel sorry for the contestants.
Really missed much of the essence and fact of SW Indian pottery.

Japanese potters are crying as well, but for a different reason.
I have been a ceramics teacher for 30 odd years. Watching this is very depressing to me. Somehow it doesn’t capture the essence of what Native American pottery is all about. The water jar brought life to the Acoma. They live on a Mesa in New Mexico and if you go there you will see there’s no running water. There should be some cultural background as the utility of the pot, as well as the process of creating, decorating and firing the pot.
did you see the whole episode? it's about 50 mins long and they did go into the history of the Acoma pots and why they made them etc :)
You have to remember this popular TV not Open university. Probably 95% of the viewers have never heard of the Acoma.
@@neil9483 still better they try to educate than not though right? It’s like with bake off and their Japanese week, not sure any of it was remotely Japanese
They did that in the show. Just watch it and don't judge something over a 4 minute highlight reel for one potter.

It was refreshing in season 1, but now its suspicious
When you are a professional, and have such passion, the appreciation of any given subject can be overwhelming by its beauty and achievement. I am an artist, and get emotional myself when seeing creative genius! However, I do understand your point.
I don't think it's suspicious, he is just an emotional person who is moved by people's passion for their craft and when they improve so much. He finds it beautiful to share a love of ceramics with others. I think it is wonderful to see him like that
Some people are more passionate. Keith is extremely empathetic, and he can feel the love and work the contestants put in their pieces. I cry easily, but I cry, especially when I feel proud of my friends and family. I understand him. Also read somewhere that he has gone through quite a lot that also has affected is emotionality and passion; "...he reveals a background of tough love, his battle with dyslexia, seeing his grandfather die and finding his mum dead."
