- Pro racer Gunnar Jeanette wields the 1969 Porsche 908/02 and puts all 350 hp from its 3.0-liter flat-8 to use in a wild sprint with a Porsche 917 during practice for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Thanks to Jeanette’s visor cam and a rear-facing camera, we get to see the Porsche specialist chase a Gulf-liveried great white shark and then try to escape its rabid pursuit. And once the excitement is over, Jeanette even does a little happy dance inside the cockpit to celebrate…

Dear FIA/Porsche, this is how a prototype is supposed to sound. This is what we want to watch. The 908 and 917 are going for it, watching the driver heal toe, down shift, and steer at all the same time while keeping the more powerful 917 behind him is the drama that is missing from Indy Car, F1, and IMSA!

Gutsy driving! Far better piloting than 917. Better lines, brakings, apexes, gear.choice out of bends and so on....
What makes you say that? The 908 was built for tracks like this. It’s defining feature was its agility. There is a vid out there somewhere of a 908/3 keeping a 917/30 at bay at the same track.
