it is by definition interest... reminds me of a hadith that says something about people giving out fatwaas about something they have no knowledge of, misguiding ppl. May Allah protect us all.
I gotta give it to you Imran bro, even though i already am aware that you are fully against these loans even before asking the scholar, you asked the questions in such a non biased way that it showed your justice akhi. May Allah shower you with mercy.
I think there needs to be an actual debate or talk that is longer than 5 mins where Sh Haitham and another sheikh can debate this because this a serious matter. You bros mashallah have access to knowledgeable trustworthy scholars so try set that up.
This is true. All Muslims that take university loan will face punishment on judgement day. Do not do it. If you do decide go to university - in fact, many people that £30k will be better spent starting a business or saving for a house and better spent - university only benefits some and some would be better just training or studying part time while working to not get into debt - those that do go can take gap year and save and then part time job. Gain experience and not go into debt.
No one can deny that this scholar is a qualified scholar. However, by asking him, you are skipping those scholars and students of knowledge who live in the UK and truly understand the situation. Furthermore, to argue that this scholar is a REAL scholar and that the ones in the UK are not 'real' scholars is very closed minded. The least that those in the UK are are experienced students of knowledge so it's not Islamic to undermine their fataawa. Allaah knows best
Barak Allah feek brother, the deen of Allah is clear as day. The scholars are the inherited from the prophets as said by the prophet of Allah peace be upon him, in knowledge. Our deen is applied to any part of the world, from the dessert to the cities. Interest is HARAM and there is no fatwa on this planet that can change that barak Allah feek.
How is a working-class teenager going to save up 30 grand, or even ten grand? In practice, the Sheikh is advising these kids to forget about university.
I don't know about other countries but in usa you have the option to go 2 year college then graduate with associate degree. second opinion you can also choose an affordable university
Deka Osman In the UK, I think all universities charge the same for undergraduate degrees. TBH I don't see how you could avoid dealing with interest in our current society. Interest affects pretty much everything, either directly or indirectly.
You can take a gap year to work then work part time? Maybe take 2-3 years out to work full time? You graduate 3 years later but with NO DEBT. You can try going to other countries where its much cheaper to study? Have a look at some European countries. You can consider attending an online university, you'd get the same degree but its much cheaper. You can ask for interest-free loans from your family and friends to help with the money you make part time? You can consider starting a business? Allah will help you. Turn to Him because our worries and problems are NOT greater than His Might. He is over all things powerful. Alhamdulilah
Apparently uni in Scotland is cheaper for English students but I'm not sure. Alhumdulilah I'm from Scotland so I don't need to pay for university at all (it's completely free). After some of the comments here I'll never forget this blessing from Allah.😢
Also - who passed the fatwa that it is permissible? I'm pretty sure Haitham al Haddad said it is in situations of necessity. He didn't just issue a blanket fatwa making it permissible. Abu Usamah said the same thing I.e. You can only do it as a last resort
No, Haitham al-haddad in his latest fatwa has said that it is permissible in its entirety as it's an "investment" not a loan, this is why this video was necessary
Haitham al Haddad a scholar? He signed a treaty with the people of innovation many years ago whom the salafi scholars rebuked and renounced openly. He even protested alongside deviant tablighi jamaat in sympathy and support of establishing their Markaz in London.
i repaid my first year as soon as I got halal funding from somewhere else. i ask Allah to forgive me, and have mercy on me.

Crystal clear stuff. Can anyone even try to argue?
Why is this even a debate? Anything that involves interest is against Islam.
Your title is evidently a cheap shot at Sh Haitham. Fear Allah.
barak allah lakuma. may Allah reward all your effort of bringing knowledge into this ummah.
Who was the reciter in the first part of the video, please tell me I've been trying to find out for months
So there is no possible way of getting into uni unless you have 30 grand to spare?
How is a working-class teenager going to save up 30 grand, or even ten grand? In practice, the Sheikh is advising these kids to forget about university.

I'm sure the brothers gonna advise us on alternatives to Student finance in an upcoming video very soon In'Sha'Allah
Looks like I'm not going uni then

Doesn't necessity mean without it you wouldn't be able to survive? Because plenty of people live comfortable lives without a university degree
No, Haitham al-haddad in his latest fatwa has said that it is permissible in its entirety as it's an "investment" not a loan, this is why this video was necessary

Our barelvi teachers say you're allowed a mortgage because it's a waste of money renting.
