It was the honor of a lifetime to sing this anthem with these amazing, hopeful, inspired and determined children in Ancient Olympia. "And let fraternity and fellowship surround the soul of every nation", indeed.
An amazing video of the Olympic anthem, a universal message of peace, friendship and unity sent from Greece to the world, just a few days before the opening ceremony of the Paris Summer Olympics 2024. Thank you for creating and sharing this inspiring video!
I love how this version being linguistically diverse. It's both inclusive and respectful to the origin of the Olympics. I was very disappointed when it was solely sung in English in my country...😢
What an honor and what a pleasure for the ECLATS children's choirs to have participated in this magnificent event. Children will remember these intense, exceptional and magical moments around Joyce DiDonato for the rest of their lives. Magnificent inspiration is this beautiful text : “And may fraternity and camaraderie surround the soul of each nation”
The first two stanzas were performed in Greek, from the original version, and the remainder are from the English sung version, the next three in French, and the remainder in English. French and English is like it was in Vancouver, then reflecting on Canada's official bilingualism. Donovan Seidle wrote some of the French lyrics, as he had parts of the Olympic Hymn translated to French during the Vancouver Olympics and it's from the English sung version.
Olympian flame immortal Whose beacon lights our way Emblaze our hearts with the fires of hope On this momentous day As now we come across the world To share these Games of old Let all the flags of every land In brotherhood unfold Sing out each nation, voices strong Rise up in harmony All hail our brave Olympians With strains of victory Olympic light burn on and on O'er seas and mountains and plains Unite, inspire, bring honor To these ascending games May valor reign victorious Along the path of golden way As tomorrow's new champions now come forth Rising to the fervent spirit of the game Let splendour pervade each noble deed Crowned with glory and fame And let fraternity and fellowship Surround the soul of every nation Oh flame, eternal in your firmament so bright Illuminate us with your everlasting light That grace and beauty and magnificence Shine like the sun Blazing above Bestow on us your honor, truth and love

Amazing! Congratulations!
Olympian flame immortal
Whose beacon lights our way
Emblaze our hearts with the fires of hope
On this momentous day
As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold
Sing out each nation, voices strong
Rise up in harmony
All hail our brave Olympians
With strains of victory
Olympic light burn on and on
O'er seas and mountains and plains
Unite, inspire, bring honor
To these ascending games
May valor reign victorious
Along the path of golden way
As tomorrow's new champions now come forth
Rising to the fervent spirit of the game
Let splendour pervade each noble deed
Crowned with glory and fame
And let fraternity and fellowship
Surround the soul of every nation
Oh flame, eternal in your firmament so bright
Illuminate us with your everlasting light
That grace and beauty and magnificence
Shine like the sun
Blazing above
Bestow on us your honor, truth and love

They could have sung this version at the opening ceremony
Upp The Irons Και Καλή Αντάμωση
What Ya Gonna Do????
Well Now.... About That....
