Just bought both versions recently, convinced my friends to get it too. PS3 feels weird because there’s plenty of input lag, but the physics engine and graphics makes us for it along with the mobility. I just got my PS2 version in today and I just got done with the first mission and I feel like the PS2 is far more superior when it comes to terms of gameplay.

The PS2 version's gameplay feels much more polished than the PS3 version's. The PS3 version is more expansive in terms of force abilities as well as physics, but it's much clunkier. I prefer the PS2 version overall.

    7th gen:
    -Better storytelling
    -Satisfying game feel
    -More destructibility
    -Difficulty setting
    -More experimental gameplay
    -More crowd control gameplay
    6th gen:
-Tighter brawling, feels just right for 1v1 swordfighting
    -More natural feeling force powers
    -Cooler spectacle
    -Significantly better bosses
    -More combat customization
-More content out of the box (PSP specifically)
Overall I prefer playing 6th gen because its less significantly flawed, but in terms of underlying game design, it's very apples to oranges. 7th gen is better for crowd control, where you're thinking about how to use your assets in different scenarios whereas 6th gen is more polished, where bosses are a lot better and the 1v1 gameplay has more depth to it

    • @ronaldmichaels3280

@@ShatteredLute it's funny because I grew up on the 6th gen version mostly and when I heard people complain about things like Raxus Prime or the camera I basically experienced the literal version of "were we playing the same game? I don't remember this being bad at all" until I first owned the 7th gen version when I first got an Xbox 360 lmao
But yeah, the 7th gen version did get better for me and open up on repeat playthroughs, but I still can't get enough of the 6th gen version. My only issue with it is that it's a little easy and the difficulty settings were omitted. It's not a bad kind of easy, it's just really forgiving and not due to lazy design, but I feel that had there have been a way to make the game harder the combat's depth would've truly shined through. One thing I'll never get enough of in 6th gen is how bigger opponents feel really big. The 7th gen version doesn't really have this for the reasons I stated in my OP but the 6th gen version just kinda nails that feeling of overcoming something big for me

    • @ShatteredLute
      @ShatteredLute  4 роки тому +5

I had no idea the game was different on the older and new gen consoles until I got the ps3 version years later (after 2 came out), just to play the game again with later hardware and better graphics, but then was like “hang on, I don’t remember the game being this way at all” then remembering they did the the same thing with the Harry Potter games back in the day, where the pc versions of 1 through 3 were really good (imo), and the ps2 versions were... not bad, but not as good (imo) haha
But yes, it probably would have been a greater game if they combined the best parts of both into a single game :/

@@ronaldmichaels3280 i see it like this: the Krome versions tell a better story and you visit more locations like the Jedi Temple and Cloud City. it also make some things make more sense, like Starkiller taking down the Star Destroyer- they copy the reveal trailer, whereas in HD, it's a slow quicktime event.
that being said, the HD versions make you feel like a unstoppable juggernaut with how brutal and massive your attacks can be. compare the fight with Ozzik Sturn on Kashyyyk- in Krome, he just shows up for one scene and he's just some random pilot grunt. whereas in HD, he has some buildup and given a sadistic Most Dangerous Game vibe. and you take him down in a brutal way by tearing apart his AT-ST, whereas in Krome it's just one simple stab in a cutscene.

@@kingofmonsters14 tbh with you, I liked the Jedi Temple/Cloud City levels decently enough for the bosses and fanservice, but what do they truly add to the story? It always felt like they wanted to give it relevance but I never truly saw it. I can see your point regarding Ozzik Sturn, but there's a certain punch to Krome's gameplay I don't always get out of HD. From memory there's more force/saber combos, the bosses feel a lot cooler and climactic to fight, and on a personal level I always liked how for the bigger opponents the camera is pointed upwards towards them, something about that makes them feel all the more daunting to take on

PS2 version is far superior over the PS3 version. Way more fun, Starkiller feels more powerful and well thought out levels. The PS3 version has some of the most annoying level design i've seen ever. The combat is honestly garbage to compared to the PS2 version. Sure theres more moves to use in the PS3 version but the way it's executed is just horrible. Everything just feels so random and theres no sense of progression of feeling like you are getting better at the game. I just chees my way through the levels that annoy me and that was that. PS2 version never frustrated me like the ps3 version does. You can tell in the PS2 version the Devs actually used there brains and made well thought out enemy encounters and level design. Where as the PS3 version is just a random pile of dog shit mixed together and they tell you goodluck. Everything is just random in the PS3 version. I was excited to relieve my childhood of the force unleashed but instead I had a misreable time getting through this garbage.
