- Since the release of Fortnite, there have been many different character models. These character models were quickly reused to make more and more skins. However, this wasn't where the problem began and in this video I cover the exact problem with reskins in Fortnite. Be sure to let me know your thoughts down in the comments below! The biggest problem I have with Reskins is that there are so many unique characters out there from previous battle passes that can't return to the game and instead of reskinning them and putting them in the store, they reskin Peely and Jonesy 30 times.
You're right, there are some battle passes that I couldn't get in their moment because of many reasons(I didn't have enough money or v-bucks to buy the battle pass) and getting reskins of iconic skins would be great but as you say, we only get peely, fishstick, jonesy or even meowscles reskins:(
Some of them do get reskins, it's just super rare for some reason (Like the Ageless Explorer, or Evie skins)
Usually though, it's only the people who were kinda important to the story in some way
I hate how the midas reskins just use the base idol stance rather than the normal midas holding a gun
Its probably cuz it would take work reskinning the gun and they’d have to rig the model to it, which is stupid but probably one of the reasons.

Reskins are fine if they're part of an event or rarity like Frost or Lava Series. But Jack Sparrow did not need a separate skin. An edit style would have been perfectly fine. With the addition of Lego there will be more issues like this. It's more profit wise as well.
They do that for more money so you the customer would have to pick one or both it just happened with jack skeleton now the pumpkin king is a separate skin

Hexbringer Lexa is another good example of what a reskin should be
its clearly the same character, but the outfit is so unique.
Plus she has a second style that makes her hair black

Court Queen Erisa as well. Same character but with two entirely new outfits that are different and match the summer theme

My problem with reskins not only if its just a color change but if the skin a downgrade compared to the original, take drift for example they made a geneic summer version or a generic ice version where they made him frozen and nothing else, in both cases they took a cool skin and made it generic with nothing to improve over the original

2:30 Wrong. I want his gold touch and his suit, which only the original Midas has. Shadow has the suit, but no gold touch. And Midsummer has the gold touch, but no suit.
That was until they made Meowdas, which fulfils both my criteria (love that skin btw). But my point is that not everyone is gonna have the same reasons for liking a skin, so you can't really make a statement as to why people buy the skin, and then say "everyone thinks this way."
And I think this is why Epic makes a lot of reskins (outside of money lol), because there's many different aspects to a skin (like Midas' eye, gold touch, hair, tattoos, etc.) that they can remix. So a lot of skin remixes/reskins end up happening.
We literally do need to make a petition to bring back rarities because they completely lied when they said “the removal of rarities will not affect pricing of cosmetics” like what? Are you kidding? I think right after that we got the Avatar skins and each one was 2000 vbucks and there was no bundle option to get them cheaper😂😂😂 they’re such liars and they didn’t even try to hide it

dude says this like we dont have way too many 2000 vbucks skins that would be 800 vbuck skins by todays standards. rarities on skins are a joke and im glad they are removed. sadly they havent lowered prices of some of these garbage legendary skins they made prior to removing rarities. on top of that. they always overprice collab skins to the point where i feel like its not just epic but also the IP holder that makes these prices
Also the locker had more life with the rarities and it was easier to find your comestic by just looking the raritie color.

The skin that does it the best In my opinion would be chaos explorer (swim suit + chaos agent = a whole entirely new skin whilst still keeping the mask and identity of the original character)

Tbh I think fncs skins are more expensive because of just fncs limited time
They aren’t limited time anymore. They stopped that in chapter 4 season 4. So all the new FNCS skins that release, they aren’t limited time.
Unrelated but I just wanna say something that really bothers me with people using the term reskin for a lot of skins. Skins like Tilted Teknique, Summitseeker Evie, and Breezeable are not reskins of Teknique, Evie and and Isabelle because they're not one to one copies of their original skins, they're remakes that use the previous skins of existed that use the characters but change the skins. Calling them doesn't feel right because they're not like Blue Team Leader or Andromeda being recolors of Recon Specialist and Sorina, because then every Rio skin like Volley Girl and Chill Count, or every Jonesy skin like Skull Trooper and Vengeance Jones is a reskin of each other which just isn't true.

90% of reskins are just Jonesy in a mask or with a different hair color or face paint on. Brainiac, flamingo, 4th of July trooper, guernsey, the elf skin, and a bunch of other skins.

The reason why Renzo and Kuno are more expensive as re-colored skins than brand new characters is because those two have an already established fanbase, while the new ones are just starting to gain traction. It's just business and marketing 101.
But you could say the same thing for Aura, sparkplug, siren, which all have an FNCS skin. Aura is the most used skin while siren is within the top 10, and then sparkplug is beyond popular from Clix. Sooooo I mean how is it that Kuno and Renzo are 200 v-bucks more because of them having a ‘fan base’ when clearly other Fncs skins are on par or even more popular than them. The reason is, like I said in the video, because of Kuno and renzo being MORE than just a recolor, epic actually changed their clothing. All the other FNCS skins were just reskinned and nothing else changed, that’s why

I definatly think they can be inconsistant with skins sometimes. Some skins will have edit styles of completely changed models... and some skins have edit styles of different colours. Yet why do skins like rosy rift ariana grande have to be seperate from the other skin 😭

I hate to be that guy, but back in my day, if a game's biggest problem was cosmetics, then we were happy because, in the end, they're just cosmetics. You don't have to buy it, and it's not pay to win. Cosmetics don't turn me away from fortnite, but I guess it's just me. 🤷♂️

I knew something was up when they increased the prices of vbucks and bundles last OG season RIGHT before Chapter 5 started...
They should just sell old battle passes so they can just make new cosmetics instead.
There you right bro, but collectors or other players will revolt for this, although there is one reason to do this, such players after season 2 chapter 2 play generally with boring skins such as gray, black or white condom (superheroes) and purely one skin like Lexa Hexbringer, Lara Croft, Black Cat, Chun-Li, Travis Scott and others
They could get sued, and even if they don't they're breaking the trust of the community
That's perfectly fine, because it means that people who aren't able to get something like a paid skin don't get the same thing they get something different but they at least have something

But with the release of the Remix Season we got a good version of meowscles and midas as Meowdas
They should really reskin old battle pass skins so people stop complaining about old battle pass cosmetics

As someone who didn’t finish the C1S3 battle pass and missed out on the C1S2 battle pass, there are many skins like sparkle specialist, elite agent, black knight, etc that I want and I missed out on. But considering that’d be breaking epics word and promise of battle pass cosmetics never returning prior to C5S4, which is why they’ll probably never come back unless the skins are given an extra style (og style); Reskinning the old battle skins would be their best bet. Obviously not everyone will be happy, but it’ll solve most of the complaints. Hope this clarified what I meant in my first reply 🙂

Honestly great reskins are the cyber pack with 8ball but cyber, and lynx futuristic even peely is sort of original.
Meowscles hasn't been recolored yet, only reskins.
Just used it as an example of a skin that has been reused numerous times, even though I did say ‘recolor.’ Just kind of a mistake on my part, but not a big deal 😂 I get your point though
They do give you a pic over a backbling which is debatable on which one is more valuable. Like I think pics are worth more bc of the animation/effects that come with them vs the backbling which doesn't add much out side of it being cool.
The problem is the fact there is only a select ammount of skins they re-skin. I like re skins but its nice to see a re skin of a skin that has like 1 version. It just gets boring when all the re skins are jusy cooler looking versions of a skin you already have
4:24 you’re paying 200 more for it being almost a entirely different skin just like how it was with the new Midas before they were just literally someone winning, grabbed a random skin, took whatever color that was going on with the FNC us and said there we go this one they made everything entirely new, but the head a 200 increase for skins that much more work, into it makes sense
There is another reason why sometimes reskins look good as an alternative
Let's take an example when there was season 2 chapter 2, I have no card and money and a PC that is not capable of producing more than 100 fps (ryzen 3, rx 570) I would not be able to get midas as the desired skin in any way, there is only shadow midas which is original but 15% is shadow quality like white hair, black clothes and purple reactive that cannot be turned off
I guess that why they are bringing the old battle passes back as a few of them were found in the game files. And there were a lot of surveys asking to bring them back and everyone said yes they should bring them back.
Character Reskins in Fortnite have always seemed like a strange case to me...
back in chapter 1 we used to get a replica skin of the tier 100 skin like the female version of omega and ice king but i don’t know why they stopped doing that it was a great idea since these skins are only available at the end of the season

As a fan of pirates it wouldve been amazing if the jack sparrow skins were together and had a reactivity option where when the moon came out he would become skeleton jack if you watch the movies yk what i mean

Recolors for battlepass characters are different. I would LOVE for a lynx recolor
I know Midas has those 2 color pallet reskins but I would maybe give shadow Midas since at least you could have a Midas that looks similar to the original but you would want a completely different look for Midas so I don’t know
I feel like fortnite could make alot more money and satisified more people if they added the old battle passes that the USER specifically bought that you could repearchase for a lower price to finish that battle pass with set of quests or somethin

I dont have a problem w reskins.
But them just popping up without any lore implications, especially the main characters like Midas, Peely, Jones, etc., feels lazy. Like, yeah i know there's a lot of 'snapshots' of them, but i wanna get to know them, their origin, fate, canon event.
But naw, they just deop them for the Hypetrain to catch some poor kiddo's mom's cash through nostalgia bait.
God we need rarity back. The avatar skins for example all being 2000 v bucks with no edit styles or anything? Normally I would have got them all but I couldn’t justify getting any of them. I get they came with weapons (I think) but for that price they should have came with a glider too at least. And it was pretty quick after they removed rarities that it happened
Rarity was literally a staple within Fortnite, and they just got rid of it like nothing ever happened; which allowed them to do stuff like that with the price point on the avatar skins. And it's just crazy, that's just asking too much at that point.

5:48 with fncs Kuno and renzo they did though, they were more then just recoloured they were they had an updated model like Midas, if anything there better examples because of there fairer price compared to ascendant Midas.
In the video I said that that FNCS Kuno and Renzo were more than just a recolor…and explained exactly why they were more than just a recolor because they had different clothing. So I’m not sure if you didn’t catch that because I did address that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though man 🙂

They are mostly call reskin or remake on the wiki. Most of them are good but not so much.
Now I see your point and have no issue with most of your opinion but if I may put my thoughts on the table idk some of the reskin u mentioned are as much of a reskin they have slight varying differences Ex:Meowcles I'd say being fine due to the multiple different versions giveing some slight texture and design changes with maybe a new pair of Jean's and some different types of feet for claws the little things I guess still not justified for the price but idk if I would call them a reskin problem just lazy and ascendant midas your totally right is a great example of a reskin done right with more to enjoy yet still keeps the original owners happy even has the ability to toggle off the golden touch and to finish up i dont mind to justify some slight changes on every skin now as was with meowcles some difference are barely or entirely going unnoticed but for the majority some are increasing in price since the removal of rarity and it didn't help the FNCS skins at all I dont think clothes u can wip up in a few minutes to an hour on a skin that is practically the same with a slightly alternated outfit is justified and especially one of a battle pass skin just thrown in but recolored now unlike some model adjustments at least with the meowcles skin there were different claws for feet and textures on the Jean's and the attachments are different on some variations of the skin but the battle pass renzo reskin was a prime lazy effort because the original character underneath changed none and charged 200 more now this a problem in my opinion and hopefully we see more amazing original skins come to the game that actually get the treatment done right loved the video keep it up and would love to hear your opinion and potentially play and chat on this topic?

Yea I also had someone comment about meowcles and that’s my bad for using him in the example of recolor because he technically has never been recolored 😂 I was just trying to use an example of a skin that’s been reused multiple times and forgot to double check, but yea lol. Indeed! If the character has a entire change of outfit and such, i think reskins are great! A good example is maybe haze with the several variants and Lexa! Each lexa skin is different! 😎👍🏻

I’ve seen reskins be a very controversial topic on social media, so I said why not make a video on it to depict why people could be mad. I don’t really have a problem with them unless they are very minimal effort, like a recolor, but you just don’t have to buy it then 🙂 I do that now that some time has passed recolors of battle pass skins are fine, because those who didn’t get a chance to get the original, now have the chance to get a similar version in the shop

See I actually look at it the other way lol. I’d find it disappointing to see a Midas for example like icebound because it’s so close to the original which makes it pointless to buy. Just give me something worth buying, change it up a bit to give me a reason to buy. That’s how I view it, I could careless it they make reskins of BP skins
To me reskins are completely okay but if we are going to make a reskin of someone to change the colors of them atleast make is like 300-500 VB. Like in league skins have "recolors" (aka chromas if you play league) and these chromas are just different colors of the skin that cost money 250 rp. Changes nothing but the color. I am all for epic trying to make money but they need to realize us Consumers aren't all millionaires. I'd love to have all the recolors of a skin I love like for example all of the midas ones would be nice to have but that's like $60 for a pallete change
Ascendant Midas is a great thematic reskin, but I still think there should be reskins that keep to the original design even closer. I see no reason to feel petty nor gatekeep digital skins and put down people who missed out (it's not a skill issue to be not exposed to video game marketing). Silhouette/haircut/fashion and colour matter a lot, and if the OG is someone's peak design but they can't have it, that's a pain. I like Lynx, but I don't like her recent Renegade reskin that much because of the colours and particles. It's fusing two things, and becoming something new. Not horrible, but not to my taste. Like, let's say you really want a basic playable Super Mario, but you can never ever get him anymore, aside from Luigi, or a Zombie Mario with glowing red eyes and a crop top. Though we can buy a Summer Brutus, it doesn't exactly carry the same hitman vibe, does it? So while very minor reskins that are just colour edits/have something mildly different would be lazy, especially for those who already own the original character, it's frankly the only solution to the exclusivity crap, so I invite it in most cases.
...Not in the case of Ariana Grande though lol
GREAT POINTS! Relating reskins to the overall theme of the original is actually a HUGE deal, and I’m glad you brought it up. Because a lot of these reskins take an entirely different approach when it comes to theme, and then the skins just don’t hit anywhere near the same as the original. I missed out on the following season's OG Jules 'cause I was going through a tough time and didn't really know she was his daughter. I have all her reskins, but they just don't hit the same. One came close w. the design, but has colours I like a lot less. Hoping for something decent next month wahhh

If you’re mad about any reskin you’re taking it too seriously I have Midas and shadow Midas and frozen Midas don’t bother me besides that they’re lazy it’s almost 2025 it’s pathetic to care about Fortnite skin rarity/exclusivity

I liked the Shadow Midas because i can't get the normal Midas skin, so i buy the Shadow version, i just don't like the fact i can't desactive the reativity of Shadow Midas
100%. Shadow Midas really gives you that opportunity to have Midas in his original state. I bought him even though I already have OG Midas, and that’s funny because the reactivity is also my only complaint with the skin 😂
Well the reskins are great for the People that didn't get the battle pass with midas shadow midas for example or beach midas are great

People need to understand the difference between reskins and remixes.
Ill use Midas as an example. Ascendant Midas is not a reskin as it is 90% different. Ascendant Midas is a remix. Shadow Midas is just a recolour, so it is a reskin
Also I feel like youre misunderstanding peoples issue with reskins. Nobody is mad about "battle pass skins being recoloured and sold into the shop", it is just the high amount of reskins. No one was mad when Shadow Midas released, as he was one of the first Midas reskins. Everyone was happy he was getting a reskin, people got mad when they kept reskinning him

Havent it been earlier that skins we already own got free recolors to choose from in the edit style section?
I completely understand where you’re coming from but some of those recolors are really a good thing. Like to use your own example, if you weren’t able to get the original Midas a recolor would fantastic way to have a version of him that’s really similar.
Now for just an item shop skin it’s a little ridiculous since I’d rather it just be added as an extra style for the original skin like how they used to do that and give you a new style for old skins a lot. Example being the original fish stick skin got like 3 extra styles overtime.
But yet again nothing says we have to buy those recolors either 🤷♀️
That’s the best way to say we don’t like that as a community is to just not buy it.
Yea after some time has passed of this video being out, I definitely could’ve said that battle pass recolors are fine, but item shop recolors absolutely not; just add it as a style 😭

the current fncs skins pretty much "say" that now we could get reskins of other bp skins that arent as popular as certain other skins. renzo is probably not a skin everybody really knows. lets say for example: fncs ronin (chap 3, season 1), fncs torin (chap 2, season 8), and maybe fncs rustlord (forgot wat pass he came in. maybe season 4?) as examples. since i missed out on chap 3, season 4, id like a fncs meow skulls or fncs mr grriz skin. that would be the best thing if epic decides to not rerelease old battle passes or atleast their ocs from the bps. the collabs are gonna be tricky cuz they may have to get permission again on certain skins.
I like this idea for sure! And yea when it comes to the collabs, things will definitely get a bit tricky

Chapter 3 OG is super mid and sees a very low player turnout compared to the past two
Fortnite falls off even harder in chapter 7, starts to move on to creative and ditch battle royale like they did with save the world
Permits every chapter island to be built in creative (not just chapter 1).
Manages to stay relevant for a month longer with this move, then falls off entirely in 2026 becoming a game only talked about in discussions of nostalgia and memories.

The original Midas is the only one with gold touch
This is false, but there are some Midas reskins that don’t have the golden touch like Shadow and Icebound, which respectively have their own unique touch, that being a shadow touch and a cold touch. However skins like Midsummer Midas, Ascendant Midas all have the golden touch still
@@TheKidDrippy you just helped me, his gold touch only works when reactive is turned on, i know people will say, duh, but i have og midas and because his touch is always on i assumed it would be the same,...so think you for clearing that up,... i never used him because i thought he never had the touch.

Righttt, the colors are sooo dull on the new Iron Man, but that's how he was in the MCU so can't really complain. I would've loved if it was the normal vibrant iron man colors. I really like she venom, but yea it's just the same as venom. So it all depends on whether you want a female character or a male character. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts 🙂
The new iron man suit was leaked to be a much better variant ended up being horrible especially compared to the original one back in chapter 2s battlepass that one is much better
It also kinda seems like a copy of the "Reposes" and "Legendary Variants" of a game named "Skylanders" where every 32 Original Characters of the first Skylanders game either got a Repose or Light & Legendary Variant with a additional attack called "Wow Pow" or simply a new Design beside new Characters in the further Skylanders games, huh did Fortnite actually took a little bit too much "inspiration" of the Reposes and Light & Legendary Variants of Skylanders 🤭

I honestly think recolour should've never been seperate skins but instead edit styles.
So let's say you own OG Midas. You then press on Edit and then you can choose between OG Midas as well as any other recolour. And if you don't own that recolour,it'll be locked. The same counts when you own the recolour but not the OG. And maybe make it where you pay full price for the skin but when you wanna buy a recolour variant it'll cost you only 500 vbucks instead of another full priced skin. Which wouldn't be too far fetched off to other games because recoloured skins are basically just things like shaders in other games. And that's literally basically what recolours are in Fortnite. A Frozen Red Knight is a Red knight with a frost shader,nothing more. All the new crew skins just run shaders now.
Like for example Volpez should've just been a 500 vbucks edit style for fennix instead of a 7 month long crew pass thing with a whole new character lore out of nowhere. It should've just stayed "Winter Warrior Fennix" variant.
They seriously need to do this! This would keep the locker organized and clean.
