ジャスティン君との思い出も詰まったお散歩楽しく拝見しました😃
私が住んでいた場所は（今は海外に住んでいるので）電車で都内までは35分ほどでしたが、小田急線の川崎方面に住んでいて、田舎でした。スーパー、ラーメン屋、パン屋などは1件しかないですし、コンビニは2件だけ。東京や神奈川に住んでいない人には贅沢に聞こえるかもしれませんが、自然と商店街やお寺などがある場所が住むのにはベストですね😃
ありがとうございます。僕は子供のころから都会に住んでて、都会は落ち着くんですけど、公園とか近くにある場所をいつも選んでましたね。

I love this residential side of Tokyo. Love that it is quiet in those areas and the local shops are fun. Shop owners are usually in for a chat. When I younger I always said I could libe in the middle of a busy area like close to Shinjuku station but not anymore, the farther in the suburbs the better in my opinion now. Everything you need for daily live is usually pretty close, you can either walk or go by bycicle. Busses are convenient and not too expensive so I usually take the bus over the subway when possible in the area I usually stay now.
Sunkus konbini is almost everywhere gone. The one near my old apartment is also a famlily now I think.

I absolutely love and appreciate these walks/tours you share with us of local communities. Makes me wish I lived there in one of those nice houses or apartments. I love seeing how other communities live so far away from me...it's so interesting and comforting to watch and imagine how different life would be but also what would still be the same. I get an odd nostalgic feeling that makes me happy even though I've never been there before. Maybe I am just feeling a sense of connection. Thank you!
I used to live just down the street in Asagaya, we moved out to Tsuchiura a month ago.
Seemed like it was a beautiful day out! ".the graveyard" reminded me somehow of the graveyard from the"grudge" with Jessica Michelle Geller! Then cleaning the grave stones
You guys so lucky to have venting machine nice view and place can't wait to go there hopefully they open up soon so travelers can go

Love these neighborhood walks. It's still amazing how peaceful and quiet things can get in neighborhoods there when it can be really bustling a block or two over.

Your walk was so enjoyable and very personal. And yes those ARE bananas or Musa, and the orange flower at the dog park is “ Coreopsis”.

Those trees were the giant Bird of Paradise tree. (There is also a smaller version of the Bird of Paradise that is a popular house plant in colder countries, which has orange flowers).
The leaves are very like a banana. I think that the plants are related!
When this tree flowers you would really see the difference - creamy with some purple. And it looks like a bird with a beak and a crest on its head! (if you have a good imagination)
Bananas are not really trees - they only live for a year or two. Banana plants put out new shoots from the bottom of the stem that grow into a new plant and the old one then dies down. So it can seem like the plant lasts for years.
The Bird of Paradise tree can live for many years, adding more and more stems, which is why they can grow so big. like the one you saw, Shinichi.
Ahhh I was so hoping you’d walk through the cemetery. I love them. They’re so beautiful and peaceful.

How great to walk just down the road to the interesting shops. (I live north of San Francisco, beautiful, but I drive 5 miles to do my shopping, nothing closer.) Keep traveling! :)
Those are banana trees, we have plenty in our country. There are so many kinds of bananas, so the trunk and leave will be different for each type but still look similar in total.
so interesting weaving in and out of the small narrow streets with all the different local shops and eateries yes,do remember Justin visits to dog park thank you Shinichi

一の湯(いちのゆ)という銭湯(せんとう=public bath)の隣(となり)…更地(さらち)になって何もなかった場所…、そこに超美味しいもつ煮(もつに)＆ホルモンのお店があったんだよ😭私の父さんの職場(しょくば)が沼袋(ぬまぶくろ)と新井薬師(あらいやくし)の中間(ちゅうかん)にあったから、昔(むかし)は父さんと待ち合わせするために、そのホルモン屋さんによく行ったんだよね～😢牛モツ煮込みがトロトロ→ドロドロで最高に美味しかったんだよね～💦無くなってたのはとても残念…。
BTW, その先にあるケーキ屋さんのケーキ🍰、今度買いに行ってみますね～😀👍有難(ありがと)う🥰
Thank you for a tour of your old neighborhood, Shinichi. It looks like a nice place with a good vibe and lovely amenities. The houses you pointed out all made me want to look inside--especially the house with the large enclosed garden! Even though Justin wasn't a fan of the dog run (my dachshund didn't enjoy other dogs either), I'm sure he loved the walk there and all the things to sniff. Nice memories. ❤️❤️❤️
Hahaha! I'm a mosquito magnet too, Shinichi! Wearing light clothes, eating garlic, and spraying on a good DIY repellent definitely help. (I had a link to a good homemade repellent, but for some reason YT won't let me post it. Anyway, search for a DIY repellent using dried herbs vs. essential oils which can sometimes cause allergic reactions.)

I feel you when you said that you can't remember where certain shops are, I'm the same when I go to places that I used to live a very long time ago. Those mosquitoes were ganging up on you :D You should definitely start a membership, I'm sure a lot of us will support you on your travels.

I’d love to stay in an Airbnb in that area with the gorgeous wall alongside the narrow road. I love how every building is different. No two are the same. Such a beautiful day too! We’ve always stayed in Ebisu when we visit. In residential areas which look quite similar. Thank you.
Part of Tokyo I haven't visited. I'm an Asakusa kinda resident. The farthest I've been to that side is probably Shibuya area. After that, father away in Gotemba via bus.
There was a guy here in my town of Ventura in California and he did ghost walks. In the old days you pay 5$ and he would walk you around Main Street and tell you the history of different buildings. I did like three of his walks. It was a history walk but from a ghost story angle. I learned a lot of cool stuff. Maybe you could have a gimmick like that for your walks. Eventually the guy wrote a book and offered a class at our city college. My mom and my sister took his class. I got his book. It was fun.

I feel sad that matsuya, sukiya and yoshinoya increased their beef bowl rice prices due to weakening Japanese Yen, hopefully they reduce their price once economy bounced back as they are my go to restaurants when funds are getting low during our tour.😅

They do look like a banana plant. They are not trees. The only thing is you can only harvest once and then they become ornamental if that is what you want. It can also be a plantain plant.
If I am going to a country where mosquitos are I start taking Garlic Capsules about 2 weeks before and during my stay, Never been bitten in all the years I have done it.

I like this neighborhood. I think my favorite if I moved there. The park is really sweet. I used to be a mosquito buffet. Eat garlic. During the mosquito season eat a lot of garlic. They hate it. Also wear light colored clothing. They are attracted to dark colored clothing. White socks, khaki shorts, pale blue shirts. Any pale colors head to toe. I have only had a couple of bites in the last 2 decades or more. I don’t use chemicals. A scent free deodorant and laundry soap may help.

One of my blessings in life is I simply do not get bitten by mosquitoes! My girlfriend will be devoured by them and I’ll come away completely unscathed 🦟

文 markings generally mean that route is a school route. they are mostly found in residential districts.

I'm thinking it would have been way cheaper to built pedestrian walk overs than to bury the trains.
Absolutely. However if they did that, cars wouldn’t be able to cross. They want to make it so pedestrians and cars can both get to the other side smoothly.
