    This is awesome thanks for making this. MM in the 70s was the best. As a kid back then, Revolution and Colossus were a HUGE deal! I remember going shortly after Colossus opened and the people wearing pins that they'd rode Colossus. I was too little/scared to ride either when they opened (born in 71) but just being there and the buzz around these coasters was pretty insane! The vibe of the park changed when they ditched the Wizard and Trolls for the Looney Toons (Tunes?) characters. And that place was sketchy as hell in the late 80s/early 90s haha, total gangland. I think it's settled down now, haven't been there in close to 20 yrs though.

    I don't mean to jinx anything, but I think I've just seen the birth of a brand new game-changing UA-cam coaster series. A series on par with Problematic Roller Coasters and Expedition Extinct that intrigues the GP and creates new coaster enthusiasts from UA-cam consumers who enjoy documentaries, but aren't yet well acquainted with our hobby. Imagine Chris doing this kind of investigative research to share with us "A Complete History" of other theme parks? Sounds like a UA-cam algorithm jackpot to me.

    I'd say the music selection could be better. The opening instrumental piece sounded too much like Hans Zimmer and it sort of distracts from what is going on screen. If I would have taken up the job of composing original music for your videos, I would write a soft string theme that evolves into a brass fanfare that ends in a soft, four-note glockenspiel bar. And during the scene where you talk about Colossus, the HORN OF DOOM (or the BRAAAM) appears. This is not an action blockbuster but your music selection makes it sound like a generic modern action blockbuster. I say that I would compose a theme beginning on French horns that starts out softly, with the rest of the orchestra joining in except for the percussion, and starts to get loud on Colossus's reveal in an euphoric sense.

    They hid gems in the "African Veldt" part of the park?? What was that? 11:43

    Very well done!! I went to MM 3x in ‘71. As a 9 year-old, this was as good as Disney, just a farther drive for my parents. I was there for the 3rd day of Revolution, and opening day for Colossus! I love the inclusion of all the old ads, and references to the old areas/attractions (Spillikin’ Corners, Magic Pagoda, etc...) Looking forward to the rest of the series!!

      The park was so amazing back then. Remember the chicken exit? And even as a kid I said that the Magic Pagoda was too wild and anarchic to last.

      @@StamfordBridge I have a picture of that “chicken exit” (somewhere)!! When I find it, I’ll have Sean fwd it to you!! As for the MP - the thing I remember the most (after the first couple of years) - was the heavy smell of dope. You’d get high just walking in there!!

      @StamfordBridge 3 роки тому

      @@jjmailman Yeah, I don’t know if Magic Pagoda had CCTV, but it felt totally unsupervised, and kids went crazy in there, especially in the strobe light area at the end.
      I would LOVE a copy of that photo! I could even see making a tshirt out of it 😂.
