I flew the same plane. Stored in on the nose. Never had that problem. But the tail section separated from the fuselage coming out of loop. 45 downline into the ground at Tuscon. Nothing left. In my opinion that is a great plane though. And H9 did a good job of design. Flies beautifully. And looks awesome too.
Thinking about it further - I'm going back 10 years now. I did make a lot of deadstick approaches. I had mistakenly installed the heavier Evolution instead of the DA100. I had lots of problems with that engine. Quitting in flight. Sent it back to horizon. And other engine shops. Nobody could ever find a problem on the bench. I bet the tank pickup was the problem. I would never have considered that. And I flew the crap out of that plane. So where were you 10 years ago ? Cheers.
Never had that happen. Saying you never had it happen does not negate that this guy did have it happened. Why not accept that he did have it happen and look for the cause you may be an accident waiting to happen.
I always use a brass tube between the clunk and the brass tube inlet line (with small piece of yellow tube between the two brass tubes and the brass tube and clunk.
Love the dead stick landings. At low altitude for a dead stick lamding is it safe to use the ailerons to turn or best to use the rudder to turn to prevent stalling?
Go with clear fuel tank. The opaque is old school. Periodic fuel line replacement is usually a seasonal requirement.

I think you’re on to something there, less aileron would definitely help keep it up longer
SWEET , Great second landing! cheers
actually, the hose is the issue, if it was new it would be able to flop around in any direction
