The 800-gallon monster aquarium got polished to remove all the Mbu puffer teeth scratches, and it looks so much better on video. Now it's time to reset the tank with bleach to get rid of the black beard algae and java moss. Cory also talks about the other, most recent changes to the fish room while feeding one of his favorite fry and shrimp foods to all the tanks.

Cory NEVER apologize! You run a business and have this channel, run your website, and have a life too. This is real life! Everyone can relate to that. Thank you for showing this side because it is realistic! Thank you for staying real!!
Nope this channel fell off
These are my favorite types of videos, because it's just hobby talk, no flashy nonsense. UA-cam culture gets really old. Everything looks great Cory!
I truly think clown loaches in the 800 is one of the best uses. There are few who can show case that beautiful, fun fish like you can in the 800.
@@jacobmetzner clowns or the absolute unit, hell even like 9000 chili Rasbora… oh my god. CORRRRYYYY
I will happily buy the new micro food once it comes out. No rush, make sure its perfect. You said the perfect thing in a previous video. " It settles everywhere for pygmy corydoras"
Dude, that wasn't boring, most fish keepers would like real world knowledge over flashy anything, I personally loved this video. By the way, your teef look amazing, doesn't it feel nice? I did Invisalign about 5 years ago and it felt great after. Also, you're The Boss, no worries about slower UA-cam content, get the team makin vids!
Try a polarized camera lens for the glare .
I have missed the old vlogs you and Randy used to do... this is really nice to get back to.
Thank you for sharing your journey, and being honest about how needs and circumstances change over time.
It definitely reduces my own guilt/shame cycle over needing to rehome/sell off most of my fish, and switching my tanks over to plants/snails/shrimp so I can start traveling again.... and improve my physical and mental health.
Unfortunately, I don't have the cash flow this summer, because I haven't been breeding since November, so now I am re-evaluating what my various options are 😅
Please don’t be ashamed. Just try to enjoy doing what you’re doing.
Thank you for all of the free education you upload. You’ve made me such a great aquarist I’m such a short time! I wish I could get a pair of your mini musk turtles theyre absolutely insane!
I appreciate this vlog approach. You have certainly covered a lifetime of builds, changes, and phenomenal amount of aquarium keeping knowledge. You are well into an amazing legacy of shared knowledge and experience for the hobby. Its nice to see the human parts along the way. Thanks Cory.
I actually appreciate seeing the progress on some of these projects. It's so relatable, having to take things a step at a time. You have a lot going on beyond setting up new tanks every week.
Also, You're so right. Summer, have been doing household projects like painting that I've been putting off. The tank, well doesn't look the best but the fish are thriving / breeding. Life happens. as long as the fish are thriving don't stress over it.
This is therapeutic for fish keepers!
Thank you for the last 10 years! Always enjoy your videos. Just placed a sizable order to help with your summer sales after your live stream the other night.
Looking forward to my enjoy nature daily hat I treated myself to along with the fish supplies. My young grandson loves to see grandma wear a hat.
That was a underwhelming reaction to the refrigerated foods. Definitely one of worst things when you’re exciting to try something new and the fish want nothing to do with it.
That crypt tank is exactly why I like to use very few plant species in a tank, looks amazing!
Try using polarized filters on your camera to reduce the glare/reflection. I'd love to have a clown loach tank!
Love the vlog style video. Always appreciate hearing your knowledge no matter the format.
If I understand correctly air dissolved in water isn't just a function of temperature, but also pressure. When you release the pressure, it comes out of solution as bubbles. Same principle why divers can get the bends if they don't resurface in stages.
Try turning the blue lights off on your lights and see how that helps with algae - works for me
You're modeling taking your time to get your tanks the way you want to. Thanks.
Even when a video is “slow” I still learn a lot from you
Be true to yourself. No explanations needed. 😊
Loving all the fish room updates!!!
Corey, please try turning off the blue LED lights on your multi colored light strip and see if you get a huge reduction in algae. A few fish channels are doing it and having great results.
Awesome video Cory I love seeing your tanks and fish looking forward to the updates on the 800 😊
Wow the 800gallon looks great!
Amazing work !
I just wanted to say thank you for all your awesome videos and resources to learn more about the hobby. I am fairly new to fishkeeping and have spent a lot of time watching aquarium co op videos to continue learning more and more. I had an opportunity at a local big box pet store yesterday to overhear a couple looking for plecos for the tank and the store associate directed them to the common pleco. The couple seemed nice but a little unsure of what they were after so I asked them what kind of tank they had. They said they had a 50 gallon with some cichlids and were looking for a pleco that the cichlids would leave alone. I mentioned that a common pleco could get very large for their tank and made a suggestion that they looked at a couple bristlenose plecos, a rainbow shark or even a Chinese algae eater as another possible alternative for a common pleco. I was really proud of myself to be confident in what I had learned from y’all to be able to maybe help this nice couple find a better fit for their tank!
Great video, I need a huge aquarium like that 😅
Would love to see sulawesi shrimp in one of those 40 breeders. Love these shrimp. 🦐🦐🦐🦐
Tank looks MUCH better though I'd be pretty upset about that crap all over my walls! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
I love listening to these videos. I am not working on my tanks, yet, today. Getting the pressure canner going first. But this is making me excited to go see My tanks.
Are you planning an update on the M&M nitrogen cycle video? It's one of my favorites you ever did and I recommended it often!
Great vid Cory time is on your side . Love the hobby Don’t burn out love the fish room.
Low maintenance, you can drift in and out and nothing changes... some people like the high maintenance, as it gives them something to do, but if you miss a few days it is really noticeable.
I love the fish room videos.
Thank you for sharing. We appreciate it!
I've always heard that chlorine will gas off in roughly 24 hours. Would it be possible to have you test for chlorine after 24 and 48 hours? I could do it myself, but this way, more people will learn the results. Thanks
I ddin't test it, but it smelled like talking into a pool for at least a week, you could really smell the chlorine/bleach
For a regular water change with tap water is more like 2 to 3 days. 24h isn't enough time. It depends on how much chlorine you have. And if you just chlorine or chloramine., as some tap water has chloramine which takes a lot longer to gas off than chlorine.
@@icarlsw34GTK! thanks
The 1000s of dollars spent and no floor drops. Beyond me how companies get away with halfass work.
What is a floor drop?
@@alessiaavalone6396 a drop cloth.. ie something that covers the floor to minimize clean up and or complete disasters in the case of things like stain or paint.
Love your Aquarium Co-Op C.A.R.E Forum too.
Looks Great!
17:21 i really appreciate the videos that aren't just "flashy". how many times do you see someone set up a tank and then NOTHING MORE IS SAID? meaning it might have crashed or failed. or the reality was that it looked ugly most of the time because plants outgrowing the initial plan, etc. i find it encouraging to see all the process and why people change things they do and how much work can go into setup.
it's like seeing instagram models and comparing yourself to them. the REALITY is that there are filters and other things going on. or they work out all day. or they take pics from a certain angle. IN FISH LAND - aquascaping a tank and showing it right then at the best it will ever look.... gives a skewed view. (and some of these idiots do setups that you know is going to kill things from overcrowding, stress, attacks, ammonia, etc. and you want to learn from someone with a seasoned tank. (sure aquascaping ideas is nice but sometimes you want that update. like peapuffer tanks. looks good but then no updates.
Absolutely love this type of videos just chilling in the ofish
i love the blog approach! it's a nice addition to the other content. and its... kind of relaxing? and informative by osmosis.
How the M&M's work? 😂
Dream tank right there
I feel like it takes me forever to make changes. Just setting up a new tank takes me a couple months. 😂
me too
Rip Murphy
So clear! ✨✨✨
I love your update s
I'd really like a fish room some day with a Fancy Goldfish tank and a Jungle Angelfish tank. Just two big tanks with a couch in-between so I can just sit and watch the two different tanks. I'm a long ways off from achieving that, of course.
Playing the musical tanks game myself right now and it's been taking a million years! It's been super frustrating, but I wanna do things right so I dont have to do it all again. Fingers crossed by Christmas I'll be done moving fish around 😅
I played musical aquariums during the pandemic (I wasn't going anywhere, SOOOOO...) and it took 3 years to move everything to the new rack system, get set-ups balanced, etc....
I enjoyed for a year, and then decided I needed to travel again to see clients, friends and family...
So I sold off over 300 fish last year 😂
Tanks are still set up, just not so many with fish in them...
Keeping it real Corey.
Have you tried putting a hob filter with fine filter media on the cloudy tanks and let it run to see if it takes out the cloudiness in the water, then turn it off or remove and see if it comes back? It might take care of the problem w/o having to tear down tanks. ;-)
Insane that it can survive bleach. looks like i will never escape malaysian trumpet snail.
I really enjoy these videos as I appreciate and respect your honesty. This is much more akin to what we all experience as Aquarists. Things are rarely perfect and we all desire change in our rooms and tanks.
One question I did have, is how you felt about all the aquariums you recently had that guy helping you with (sorry I forget the name). I thought they looked really good. Was it a case of some of them not having your personal touch? I think that’s how I’d feel. I love to look at other people’s pretty ‘scapes, but I’d prefer the ones in my house to be by my own hand (for better or worse!).
Keep up the great work
Malaysian trumpet snails= indestructible apparently 😂
Munsters pinball! Love it
0:33 this is why a hate acrylic.
Good luck trying to clean the glass when it gets dirty.
Are you serious? You're doing amazing! I'd just suggest expanding your online store all the way to Canada!! Even if it's just the accessories (Sponge filters etc) I wanted to get a whole set up from you but unfortunately it's only being shipped to the states.
We have a Canadian retailer now! You can purchase online at yourlocalfishstore.com/ or you can visit April's Aquarium if you're local :)
Best video Cory
I like your video because you are being true to yourself and to your audience or subscribers. Your calmness in dealing with green and black algae provided inspiration and encouragement to have courage to battle with them😅.
Teasing us with that itty bitty micro dry magic stuff, still!
Cory, would that kind of polishing work with glass scratches, or just the softer Acrylic?
Just acrylic. There is a way to remove scratches from glass, just a lot more involved in my opinion.
All my little fish love that baby brine shrimp but like you said 10 bucks is a little expensive
What's the best fish to get rid of hair algae? I'm having a heck of a time trying to get it under control.
You should add corydoras to the 800 gallon never seen lots of them in a big tank
What type of gravel substrate do you use in the tanks that you like? Is it a generic gravel from like home depot or an aquarium substrate? I really like how rounded it is, as opposed to how jagged others are
rubbing alcohol is good for removing rubbing compound. dampen a rag with the alcohol, and rub off.
Why not use pool shock for the cleaning?
Would it be too much of a pain/headache to get one system going? Like fish that have the same water parameters/temps on one system. Less cleaning filters but I guess more prone to getting algae in the tanks? Wanted to also add do you think the reason behind the algae is the various different light sources that are going into the tank other than the light on top? Like from the room light or surrounding lights on other aquariums?
Hello from Indonesia
Would the java moss that is dry come back once it has water again?
It would if I didn't want it to lol. So the bleach will make sure it doesn't.
Ae those flat backgrounds in those tanks ir 3d backgrounds?
👍🤠 My opinion, ya lot of glare but it doesn’t bother me at all. When it’s done it’ll be two for price of one
Where is Elmer?
My tetras are asking me when will i be able to get the new food........
Have you tried any polarized camera filters to try and remove glare
Yep, you then need to bump up the ISO so much the image becomes grainy.
@AquariumCoop I wanna build my own tank, specifically a true pentagon. All I see out there are corner pentagon tanks, so am I setting myself up for failure? Is a equalateral/true pentagon a weak shape? I would hate to buy all the glass needed for this thing for it to not work out well.
Cory, my baby musk turtle recently died within 48 hours after a water change. Do you use Fritz Complete in your turtle tanks? What could've happened to the poor guy? He was on his land area in the corner passed away 😢
I'm not sure what happened to yours, but we've definitely used fritz complete with ours without problems.
@@AquariumCoop thank you for replying. Rest in peace Krusty ❤️ 🕊️ 🐢
what crypt is that??
Expensive 😳
Okay, kids, time for Bleach 101:
Bleach is used to kill germs, it isn't a solvent, it doesn't do a good job breaking down dirt and grime. Kind of like you said "it's pretty much just super chlorine", yeah, that is ACTUALLY what it is. The chlorine is the part of bleach that does the disinfecting. That being said, there are bleach solutions that have solvents added in, but plain bleach is not a degreaser or solvent, you would need to add that manually in order to really cut through scum. Additionally, any exposure of bleach to UV radiation (sunlight) will cause it to start breaking down, most sources agree that 24 hours after the exposure bleach is rendered FAR LESS effective, so leaving it in for a week isn't doing you much.
It's a pretty misunderstood substance, but years of working with it as a germicidal cleaner at my day job has made me pretty familiar with it.
Hope this helps!
I’m not an expert but I think you would have less algae if you fed less, I feed 3x a week and my fish and tanks do well with that. Obviously fry need fed every day though.
It’s the lights. There is so much bleed over from the neighboring tanks.
Sounds like you're spreading yourself too thinly by doing so much, dude.
Just wanted to thank you for educating me on the aquarium hobby as I've just started it in my 40's 😂.
😊
Wait, you rub your hand on the back wall and get a splinter, then you do it again? Why? Just curious...
Well because I was seeing if it was a spliter off one of the planks. Turns out it was from a screw hole. With that information, I can sand that carefully.
I love your videos, but the 60 second non skippable ads are ridiculous!! It makes me want to stop watching the video.
