You are the first person who didn't make me feel crazy for thinking poor Jenny was a "working girl". Don't worry about your equipment or any of that. Most of us aren't watching to see the video, We are hooked on watching other people change right before our eyes by the force that is Ren. If anyone is like me, we watch these for insight into why it affects us personally so much. You are so insightful for being a young man. I look forward to your breakdowns.
She was 14 years old wearing high heels. I've waited through dozens of reviews for someone to catch that. In fact, this is the first comment I've seen saying that!
@John Boyd I was starting to wonder if my biases were making me see something that wasn't there. I just seen in my mind why she was so desperate to escape.
I've seen it mentioned elsewhere, with additional pointing to 'rosy cheeks' being a very victorian reference to the painted-faces of prostitutes of the era. I can't tell you which reactors coz I've seen so many... but it's out there and you're not alone ;)
Wow you are the first Reactor that I have seen who mentioned Ren sighing, and preparing himself for what he was about to talk about. I have often wondered if that was intentional or performative . He doesn't seem to do anything without purpose, but this could be something that happened that they just left in .
I think Ren has spoken about this and said it was the equivalent of him putting on his “minstrel’s mask”, getting ready to perform something that impacts him as well. He also intends for the viewer to be incredibly uncomfortable during the beating…fighting the urge to bop along to the bouncy rap while taking in the terrible story, as a way to force people to think about what’s really happening, to remember it.
There is a famous Chinese singer who writes and sings emotional songs that includes domestic violence, depression, etc... Before he goes on stage, he isolates himself in order to adjust mentally and emotionally to the song. Like Ren, he sings with such emotions, tears in his eyes, etc... When he's done singing that song, he's like spaced out as if still in it. Reactors describe him as a performer. While Ren is described as a hard or minstrel.
I've watched a dozen reactions to this trilogy and not one other person has pointed out the marijuana being the devil's lettuce and tying it into the song. 🤯 Also the sex worker reference. No one else has picked up on that. The story that supposedly influenced this song was a 14 year old in London killing a prostitute. Samuel is his friend who does the filming for his videos. You picked up on so many things that others have missed. Really great reaction.
I know the story is based on a 14yo killing a prostitute but I think Jenny was a sweet girl, she lived in Camden Town hence Ren saying she knew this town, she was wearing high heels because she dressed like Amy Winehouse who lived in Camden and Jenny walked the streets looking for all the graffiti’s dedicated to Amy which is all over Camden, On the statue in Camden Market of Amy she’s wearing high heels. I’ve done a vid about Jenny with all the evidence to prove this theory
You’re the first person I’ve seen that noticed the eyelids part. Ren’s intentionally putting us in the first person perspective of Violet in that moment. Cutting out the guitar during that sequence. The waay he seamlessly transitions between characters and narrator. His story telling is impeccable
@SamuelPerryFalvey is the man behind the camera. He's behind the cinematography in several Ren videos, e.g. Hi Ren, Sick Boi, and Genesis so he's obviously super talented.
Happy Birthday! Two observations you made on this reaction that NO OTHER reactor spoke of (and believe me, I've seen a ton!). You talked of Jenny escaping before Ren did, where many reactors actually thought she got away from Screech and didn't know until Jenny's tale that she died 😀. You spoke about Ren seemingly preparing himself for telling the grisly tale of Violet; it drove me crazy that nobody spoke of that move, and it seemed so obvious that it was deliberate. I'm glad you've started your own reactions, and I'm glad you've chosen Ren to highlight first!
I’ve watched a lot of reactions of this and yours has been one of my favorites! You caught so much! And I really enjoy hearing your perspective/thoughts on it too. I’ve found that a lot of male reactors miss the initial “tuck her tight, but never left the room” line, so it was really nice that you caught that immediately and knew what he was referring to and how impactful that was. I’m really glad you created a reaction channel, I’m enjoying all of your content!
In my humble opinion all of your Ren reactions are some of the most impressive and best breakdowns I've seen from any reactors to Ren - and I've seen a lot! You get it Much love from the UK
One of the best reactions I've seen. It is a testament to Ren's genius that after viewing over 100 reactions to The Tales there are still new things to discover about the characters and the nuances of the video production. How James' nickname came to be, the significance of the extreme close up after Violets eyelids were folded up, Screeches breathing when he calls his girlfriend to name but three.
These pieces are like live theatre. I’ve watched them over and over and every time, I’m mesmerized. You picked up on so many subtleties as well. Great reaction! It’s always such a pleasure watching people with different skill sets and perspectives react to Ren’s music because there always some other treasure to reveal. ✌🏼 ❤️ 🎶
I really enjoy watching reactions to Jenny & Screech especially watching the realisation hit home at the end of the trilogy. You picked out a few things that I hadn’t really thought about before - Ren’s sighing for one. This set of songs does shine a light on some really tough subjects and opens a discussion about them. I think it invites us to think about the idea of the duality in humans and how everyone can be a victim even when this does not appear to be the case at first glance. Hope you had a great birthday. Thanks for another great reaction.
@IanTaylorReacts oh my 🤗... i just had the most humongous teethy grin, eyebrows raised so high, my forehead started to ache, in anticipation of hope, that you'd feel the roller coaster emotions, aswell as the insane appreciation of what you experienced, like we all have/did/still do. Im so chuffed right now! 🤜🤛👍🫶
Happy birthday brother. Isn't this performance amazing? No worries on the length I'm sure most of us know what we're getting into when we see that's the tale of Jenny and screech. Also wanted to say I enjoyed the track you dropped, cool vibe for sure!
Happy birthday Ian. It was WAY worth staying til the end. To see the effect of the gutt punch of an ending. This whole thing was quite the creation. There is the nearly melodious guitar and tone of the narrator that invite us in for a little tale. The lyrics paint us such VIVID pictures. It all plays out in our minds eye. But, it's the delivery. Including the separate character voices, acting AND the intensity of the guitar. That pull us in and gets folks emotionally involved. The whole package, is what sets up the ending twist. A MASTERPIECE in storytelling to be sure.
Blind reactions are the way ahead... Great reaction mate. Have you ever heard Paulo Nutinis' "Iron Sky" live at Abbey Road Studios? Scottish Soul Singer...Epic..
From what I understand, he wrote the first 2 songs after reading an article about a very young man murdering a young woman in London, he didn't write "Violet's Tale" until a few years later (and that one was of his own making). He said that there are 2 songs so far that he wrote, that he knew in his gut were special. "Hi Ren" (of course) and "Violet's Tale".
Happy Birthday, Ian. Again, another great reaction. I agree that he doesn’t look into the camera when he’s talking about Jenny bc she’s scared and the sort of person who avoids confrontation. Think that’s a great way of thinking about it. But he’s also narrating and setting the scene. When he’s speaking as Screech, he’s literally being Screech. So when he looks into the camera, directly at the audience - breaking the fourth wall, he’s trying to make us feel like we’re Jenny. At least, that’s what it feels like to me. And he does such a great job at painting a picture, the image in your head of what she’s going through is incredibly vivid. The looking into the camera is a great touch. The whole thing is another Ren masterpiece. And bro, you catch everything. I can see your channel growing rapidly. Great job! Edit: the reason, I think, Jenny felt different on that night, like something was wrong, was bc her twin was about to kill her, and they say twins have that kind of connection.
I caught that early on because I have twins… Doesn’t matter if they grew up in the System and apart from each other. Ren is such a genius at how he wove this entire tragedy together. I think we all could start chanting…We want more😂 I haven’t been so excited about a musician/. Artist in years.
The countless fantastic reactions I have watched of this tale, but yours was so detailed and you spotted so many things early on that others hadn’t on a first watch- this is why I am loving your reactions. Great work and was delighted to see this pop up on my feed this evening (U.K.). Nearly 39 minutes and not a moment too long at all! Your little face in that last 45 seconds or so is the reason we all recommended this 😂😢 Oh and Happy Birthday lad!
Some themes i see: Generational trauma, the cycle of violence (ends are beginnings; repitition, starts where it ends and ends where it starts) and the epigenetics of trauma ( jenny inherits the silence while Screech inherits the violent temper)
I loved your reaction. I love that you brought up the issue that there are predators out there who seek out susceptible people who have been victims of their abusive parents. It's often talked about as if abused people just naturally find themselves with abusive partners, but there are complicated things going on.
Loving your reactions - they're phenomenal and jusrt caught up with all of them. An addition to the tales - Ren was very aware that both Jenny and Screech were victims of their upbringing and circumstances and wanted us to see more of the background story to Screech, his relationship with Patrick and his life up to the point we meet him here. Ren staged a "real life" robbery of his phone by Screech and then posted a lot of instagram stories as Screech which help to tie up some of the threads of his story - those IG stories can be found here for added context : ua-cam.com/video/BICvZAS1FR0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Ren Ren almost lost his IG account because of the footage he and his friends filmed and lost a lot of followers because of it at the time !
This is such like a Shakespearean tradegy with 3 acts, with a Shakespearean twist at the end and a very Shakesparean x musical theatre style narrator, played by Ren - even the interupting and entering into the actual play (without taking part in the action) like when he 'follows' Steve around reminding us that Violet is staying silent. The classical guitar/almost baroque style (esp in the intro to Violet's Tale) furthers the minstrel feel to it. Thanks Ian, you made me think again about Ren's choices of style and just how creative he is. Also, Ren is a master of flash fiction - the way he can be so efficient and effective with his words - leaving things out, leaving us to finish important parts ourselves
Loved this reaction! Immensely grateful that you are highlighting the reality of abuse and domestic violence, a lot of reactors seem to glaze over or literally have no reaction to these particular parts of the song. It’s truly refreshing to see a guy talking on these subjects, many of us feel we’re not listened to or heard. Much love 🌺
Wow, you noticed so many things during your first watch... from the music to the performance and the story... And it was a joy watching you getting so excited about it all! 🤩 I found it crazy how much I was shocked and incredibly entertained at the same time watching this story. Ren just always seems to know how to create so many intense emotions 🙃 And now have a very happy birthday and enjoy your day!! 🥳
Speaks on the cycle of generational violence and tragedy. Some break out of the repeated patterns, but many don't. The guitar part near the beginning of Violet's Tale, where Ren looks around with the bewildered and quizzical look, I interpret as being one of the newborn babes (either Jenny or Screech) trying to figure out this crazy world they have been born into. Happy Birthday! Great reaction.
What I get from ren when he does the quiver before going into violates tale is him trying to vet into character shaking out the horrible things he's about to tell us like at the end of the song when he says "London city far from pretty" he says it harshly so we know this is real and its not just him making up a story and for people to pay attention
@@asmodeus5326 That is the beauty of great music with deep lyrics, we can all have different interpretations on what it means to us. And in the case of Ren it is not just the great music and lyrics, but the performance art aspects. To be a little more specific on the part I am referring to, I am speaking of when he is still in bed while making the vocal sounds and looking around. If you are referring to the part when he is standing and shakes himself before starting to walk, then your interpretation is the same one I have. Ian also mentions this, which I thought was awesome, since I have been waiting for someone to notice this and comment on that part.
You're adorable, this was an amazing reaction. One of the best I've seen on UA-cam, and I've watched a few😅. Happiest of Birthdays to you!🎂🎁🎊 I recommend you react to Heretic, Hold on and Dominoes. As a female, the song Dominoes really resonates with me and it is really amazing to have a song that connects like that for me, written and sung by a male. Ren is breaking genres and sterotypes.
Man, I love your energy! Your interpretations are pretty dead on for the most part. Im enjoying seeing you go down the ren rabbit hole. Happy birthday Ian!
Best reaction I've seen to this. I'm really glad to see you with your own channel. You bring a lot. It's obvious you are a writer. It was clear you saw the Jenny and Screech tie in at the end super early. Hope you do great man!
❤🎉🎂 Happy Birthday bro…. Another 🔥 reaction loving all your uploads so far… after listening to all your own music all day it’s clear why you get Ren beyond the music - you’re both talented and diverse an have lived thru some pain - loving your conversational type reaction an being yourself you make me smile cos I get everything you say especially when you ask if we get what you’re saying 😂😂😂 💚💛🧡 respect
Happy happy birthday Mr. Taylor! Phenomenal reaction as usual. Your analysis of the trilogy as we went along was pretty spot on, as your analysis/reactions always are, so I thought for sure that you were going to figure it out ahead of time. There have been two reactions that I've seen to this (and I've watched them all) that supposedly figured out the plot twist before the end but I don't know that I believe that neither one of those reactors had ever watched this or read the lyrics previously. But I 100% believe that you were blindsided by that. And sorry brother but that made me positively giddy! (I have a few favorite things to watch when it comes to watching people watch things, or watching reaction videos however you want to put it, and this is definitely one of them. And even though nobody asked a few of my other favorites are first time reactions to Babymetal, Harry Mack, Falling In Reverse's Popular Monster, Metallica's Enter Sandman live in Moscow 1991, and Stevie Ray Vaughan's performance of Texas Flood live at the El Mocambo Please forgive me because I have not read the comments yet so I may repeat something that you've already been told. In fact, I'm sure I will) but there is a series of Instagram stories that Ren did leading up to the initial release of Screech's tale (Jenny and Screech came out a few years before his encore, the origin story of Violet) and Ren has now compiled them into a single video on his page. Ren being Ren did not say a word about what he was doing at the time, so as I understand it his page was more than a bit chaotic. People thought somebody had stolen his phone I think or that he had gone mad and he lost some followers and almost had his account banned. I wish I had been a fan back then because hello how fun would that have been but I didn't find his music until late December, following the release of Hi Ren. Anyway, heres the link if you haven't got it already... ua-cam.com/video/BICvZAS1FR0/v-deo.html It will tell you more about the characters and the stories. Anyway, I am so glad that you decided to start your own reaction channel. I might have already said that in a previous video and I definitely will say it again in the future video but kudos on your insights because even on videos I've watched a million times I still learn something. And I find that neat-o. I'll shut up now. I, too, can talk a lot, or so I'm told. As for suggestions to potential follow up reactions, you can't go wrong with Ren but I would love to hear you do Love Music parts 1 2 and 3. They do not have to be listened to in order but they do have a sort of progression of sorts that I don't even need to mention because you'll pick up on it. So it might be beneficial to listen to them in order just because. I also recommend reacting to anything that I mentioned above. Cheers and congratulations on surviving another trip around the sun! 🖖
I love this trilogy and your reaction is epic. How I heard the first 2 part kind of real story, Ren wrote them about a short artic in the newspaper and the third 2 years later out of his head. Keep rocking with him check out What you want by Ren
Feliz cumpleaños 🎉 I've listened to this many times. I still get emotional; both sad & angry. He's special in his way of capturing peoples behaviour, situations tragedy & loss. Thanks for the reaction - interesting points of views... Take care ✌️
Happy Birthday, Ian! Loved your reaction to Hi Ren over at BP's channel! Always happy to find yet another reactor going down the Ren rabbit hole :D We'll be along for the ride... :)
The artistry in this unreal. And shame on me i waited until yesterday til i viewed this full piece of artistry. I cant believe i slept on this. God hes a genius. And you again at your age picking up on all of this. Your brother is so proud of you. All praise the fellow prodigy...and yes i mean your poetry. Get this world child. ❤❤❤❤❤ Seriously though???? 25 you said you were?? I was clueless at 25. I may have been pretentiousness defined at 25 but good lord. This world was made for prodigies of your caliber my dear.
Screech is also the noise a tyre makes when it’s wheel spinning to get away. Ties in to the “he’s quick on his feet” line. Great content! Was hoping you’d start a channel after seeing you with Pegasus
This trology is such a master piece and I really enjoyed seeing how much of the themes you picked up straight away. It's a testament to him as a writer and story teller that he knows how to put enough information in to make a cohesive and gut wrenching storyline whilst at the same time leaving enough gaps for the listener to fill in by themselves, but just in the way he intended you to fill them so that you're thinking about the characters and their circumstances with so little of them revealed. It's literally a movie script in a 13 minute video. This is a short story masterpiece that could have worked as a written piece alone but Ren's performance takes it to the next level.
Happy Birthday! This was great! I really enjoyed how you got into this and broke down the lyrics. I'm sure you've noticed with Ren that there's always a duality of sorts: good v. evil, light. v. dark, etc., but this one really hits hard. You were right about the diminished chord move. He likes to use diminished chords to create tension, and does so very effectively. I''ve also heard him finish a song and not go back to the 1 chord. He does that in Hi Ren. There's another tune that I don't think you've heard yet where he plays the root and the 5th of the chords only. You know how it works I'm sure with the major third vs a minor third. You'll catch it when you hear it. Keep it up! These are great and I never grabbed the God/devil dichotomy in this one, so it was neat that you called it out. Anyway, thanks for reading! Many blessings and total respect!
Great in-depth analysis :) Ren's Tales series is a modern incarnation of a class English traditional music genre, the murder ballad. They always tell a story in which someone, often the woman in the story, dies horribly. I wouldn't be surprised if Ren;s Tales series was originally based on a local urban legend--the bones of the story might have already existed, and he put it to music. But I'm just guessing here. This genre tradition goes back hundreds of years. There are quite a few modern takes on it, for example Mick Jagger and the Chieftain's cover of "The Long Black Veil." Or, Sondheim's musical "Sweeny Todd/The Demon Barber of Fleet Street". Ren does an amazing job of bringing his signature dramatic style and rap skills into his recreation of this genre.
He is like a medieval minstrel brought up to date. Masterpiece. You picked up on so much and when you finally understand that Jenny is 14 too,her age was not mentioned in her tale, you have to think about what her life was like.
Hey!!!! It’s my first time here AND it’s your birthday!!! Have a wonderful year!! This is an very awesome review of this song!!! You're very smart!! Wait!! Did I see you in videos with Black Pegasus? I think I did!! Omg!! I've written your name in my notebook because I was so impressed with you!!. Okay!! I'm subscribed!! Amazing!!! Your channel is going to be more than great!!!
Happy birthday 🥳 great catches. Especially on Jenny being a prostitute. I’ve been waiting on someone else to put that together. Also “London city far from pretty 2005” is the date of what happened to violet and 14 years later would be when Jenny’s song came out. Also, you have the generational likenesses of Jenny (timid, quiet, murdered) and Violet (timid, quiet, murdered). Then Screech (angry, violent, murderer) and Stevie (angry, violent, murderer). “History repeats itself” Hope you’re enjoying your birthday and can’t wait for the next drop 🎉
I really loved your reaction buddy! Full-disclosure, I normally don't enjoy much pausing, BUT, I loved every single one of yours. You brought additional clarity/analysis that I hadn't thought of...so, I loved it. This is such an incredible trilogy. Want more and more. BTW, Happy Belated Birthday my friend!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Great GREAT reaction sir! One thing I'd add - Screech was "smoking ganja with the boys" so he wasn't just brave and angry, he's also paranoid from the weed so that's messing him up. Amazing set up and delivery from Ren.
A few things that make sense after you know the ending: 1) some say twins have a “special connection” so on the first tale that could’ve explain the way she felt before turning the corner 2) Jenny followed her mom’s steps as she probably was also abused home or maybe she had been just wondering around adoption homes throughout her life and that made her become a prostitute at 14 years old 3) Screetch followed his father’s steps as a violent person, maybe that’s all he was exposed after his mother’s tragic death 4) They were born laying side by side and died laying side by side 1 street apart ( that’s simply freaking genius) Besides that, just a small catch that I believe you either missed or decided not to comment about - On violet’s tale ( by far my favorite ) Ren start’s the story talking about a girl fighting to stay alive and than he on the most absolute awesome way rewinds time with his guitar !! And than he proceeds to tell us what lead us to that moment, and right before he returns back to the beginning he reverses the rewinding notes as if he was just forwarding time to continue the story. That for me is crazy creativity.
Happy Birthday! I've been looking forward to you seeing the Tales! It felt like something you would really get, and that the cinematic creativity of it all would really fire up your imagination. So glad to see it grip you, though I hope you had something fun to do afterwards!
I've been haunting reaction channels since I was first introduced to Ren through a Hi - Ren reaction that I got click baited into watching. Having worked a decade in the music research industry I had set aside music for a long time, it was all just the same and uninteresting anymore. Then I come across this artist and all of a sudden I'm waiting for every release, telling friends, supporting smaller channels on UA-cam with subscribing, likes, and a few comments here and there. I feel like I am watching the emergence of the Wyld Stallions in real life. An artist directing all of their experiences, talent, and energy to telling the truth about the world we live in right now, pure and raw. With enough support this type of person can change our existence in ways that no government could ever accomplish. Why? Because he makes us talk to each other, his art demands that we think.
Happy birthday mate! In Jenny's tale Ren faces the camera when Screech is speaking, Jenny never opens her mouth, and Ren doesn't face us when he's painting the picture. As u notice later Violet inherited the silent side from her mother and Screech got the violent side from his father. Samuel Perry-Falvey is an extremely talanted Director of Photography that Ren been working with for most of his one shot videos. Ren mentioned in one of his twitch streams that while recording Violets tale someone actually opened a window and screamed "Will you shut the f**k up". All of these one shot videos had to be recorded in the middle of the night ofc to get the streets alone and as u can imagine it will take a bunch of tried to get it perfect when u want it all in one continuous shot. The planning that went into this still baffles me. I have to say your reaction at the end of Violets tale was just perfect. It's how we all felt the first time watching this. 💖
Happy Birthday Ian!🎂Enjoy your day!! I am really enjoying your reactions😃 Love the way you break things down and catch things others miss, good job👍 Excited for more! Grüße from Austria❤
I have to brace myself to watch this trilogy, as Violet's Tale always hits me almost too hard - it's the "she never had a chance" up-the-stairwell vocals, after that I'm kind of wrecked. Wanted to hear your take on it, though. Ren's guitar arrangement matches the characters so well, same in Hi Ren with the different guitar voicings for Light Ren/Dark Ren/Whole Ren. Ren is quite the natural actor, as this piece also demonstrates. Kudos to catching the streetwalker implication, you're totally correct. Great reaction, again.
I hope you enjoy the reaction! I know it’s a longer vid than normal, but the song deserves it I think. What should we react to next?!?
Waaaaaaau HBD🎉🎉. So Screeches Girlfriend was busy whit Patrick 😏
@@aknomis I didn’t even think of that🤯 lol
Lol, neither did I. Patrick down at number 54 was foing his boy dirty. Haha
Also, I vote for ren "losing it" for a reaction it's a very fun track imo.
Sam is Rens buddy you can see him in Song POWER, he Films almost all his Videos.

Each tale is a single take. There is no edit.
it might be that this was like the 15th take and he was resolving to get it right
I think Ren has spoken about this and said it was the equivalent of him putting on his “minstrel’s mask”, getting ready to perform something that impacts him as well. Wow, you're getting up there with knox catching every last thing! Great job bro!!!
Now you know... There is no preparing for Ren... Never know what is coming... Just sit back and be ready for anything and everything.
Ren depicts this as "Bardcore," which is an actual genre here in the UK... its awesome!
I’m a big fan of this style. I may have to delve into it on my own music, it looks so fun
I hadn’t heard of “bardcore” till Ren. Very cool stuff
Samuel is the guy who films rens videos
The look on your face at the end is priceless! I feel like I got a birthday present. So fantastic!
great reaction, ren is so good
This paints the ultimate picture of generational trauma. Glad you reacted to this, it was great.
Shakespeare couldn't even write a tragic twist like this... Ren is a true artist in EVERY sense of the word....
Happy birthday brother. Isn't this performance amazing? No worries on the length I'm sure most of us know what we're getting into when we see that's the tale of Jenny and screech. Also wanted to say I enjoyed the track you dropped, cool vibe for sure!
Hands down the best reaction to this trilogy!! 💯🤯
Great job mate! Between you and Knox Hill, you have the most in depth understanding and intelligent response i've seen from all reactors to Ren!
"Maybe this takes a super dark turn, question?" Little did Ian know...
Ren staged a "real life" robbery of his phone by Screech and then posted a lot of instagram stories as Screech which help to tie up some of the threads of his story - those IG stories can be found here for added context : ua-cam.com/video/BICvZAS1FR0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Ren
Ren almost lost his IG account because of the footage he and his friends filmed and lost a lot of followers because of it at the time !
Wow! That's intense! I had no idea. I'll have to check them out!
Much love 🌺
Happy birthday Ian.
Loved the shock on your face at the end of the trilogy
Wow, you noticed so many things during your first watch... from the music to the performance and the story... And it was a joy watching you getting so excited about it all! 🤩
I found it crazy how much I was shocked and incredibly entertained at the same time watching this story. Ren just always seems to know how to create so many intense emotions 🙃
And now have a very happy birthday and enjoy your day!!
Sack of bricks, exactly. As soon as he said "twins" I was like rabbit in the headlights screaming "NOOOO" in my head.
You dissected this masterpiece beautifully dude. Much respect.
Happy Birthday and thank you for doing The Tales Of Jenny and Screech. Awsome.
So happy birthday Ian! Just a little shock on your face!❤😂❤
This! This is the reaction this song deserves. Well done! And you pointed out a lot I hadn’t caught before.
when i hear people screaming in the city at night, i wonder is someone in trouble or is it Ren making another master piece.
Was fun to see you speechless - this was great 😁 Happy birthday!
And even though nobody asked a few of my other favorites are first time reactions to Babymetal, Harry Mack, Falling In Reverse's Popular Monster, Metallica's Enter Sandman live in Moscow 1991, and Stevie Ray Vaughan's performance of Texas Flood live at the El Mocambo
Please forgive me because I have not read the comments yet so I may repeat something that you've already been told.
Happy Birthday young sir , and thank your for this gift . I do believe this might have been my favorite reaction, and analysis .
I love this trilogy and your reaction is epic. How I heard the first 2 part kind of real story, Ren wrote them about a short artic in the newspaper and the third 2 years later out of his head. Keep rocking with him check out What you want by Ren
I thoroughly enjoy your reactions!
Feliz cumpleaños 🎉
I've listened to this many times. I still get emotional; both sad & angry. He's special in his way of capturing peoples behaviour, situations tragedy & loss.
Thanks for the reaction - interesting points of views...
Take care ✌️
Happy Birthday! Wish you all the best!!!
Happy Birthday Ian! Thanks for another awesome reaction. Have a great day and enjoy it! Hope all your wishes come true!!
Happy Birthday, Ian! Loved your reaction to Hi Ren over at BP's channel! Always happy to find yet another reactor going down the Ren rabbit hole :D
We'll be along for the ride...
Seriously though???? 25 you said you were?? I was clueless at 25. I may have been pretentiousness defined at 25 but good lord. This world was made for prodigies of your caliber my dear.
Happy Birthday!
Screech is also the noise a tyre makes when it’s wheel spinning to get away. Ties in to the “he’s quick on his feet” line.
Great content! Was hoping you’d start a channel after seeing you with Pegasus
Loving your reactions 😊Happy Birthday
This trology is such a master piece and I really enjoyed seeing how much of the themes you picked up straight away. It's a testament to him as a writer and story teller that he knows how to put enough information in to make a cohesive and gut wrenching storyline whilst at the same time leaving enough gaps for the listener to fill in by themselves, but just in the way he intended you to fill them so that you're thinking about the characters and their circumstances with so little of them revealed. It's literally a movie script in a 13 minute video. This is a short story masterpiece that could have worked as a written piece alone but Ren's performance takes it to the next level.
Everyone smiles when his mouth trumpet starts 😊 I love it, very casual and cool! 😎
Great reactions. You are amongst the best. You will do wonderful things!
Happy B-day!🎉🎉❤
Wow. After 100 times listening to this masterpiece Ive never stopped and asked myself why did James get the nickname "Screech"?
Very in depth reaction. Happy Birthday 🎈🎁🎈
“History repeats itself”
Hope you’re enjoying your birthday and can’t wait for the next drop 🎉
Also: This whole thing kinda reminds me about "Brenda's Got A Baby" from 2Pac which also had highly interesting storytelling.
A few things that make sense after you know the ending:
1) some say twins have a “special connection” so on the first tale that could’ve explain the way she felt before turning the corner
2) Jenny followed her mom’s steps as she probably was also abused home or maybe she had been just wondering around adoption homes throughout her life and that made her become a prostitute at 14 years old
3) Screetch followed his father’s steps as a violent person, maybe that’s all he was exposed after his mother’s tragic death
4) They were born laying side by side and died laying side by side 1 street apart ( that’s simply freaking genius)
Besides that, just a small catch that I believe you either missed or decided not to comment about - On violet’s tale ( by far my favorite ) Ren start’s the story talking about a girl fighting to stay alive and than he on the most absolute awesome way rewinds time with his guitar !! And than he proceeds to tell us what lead us to that moment, and right before he returns back to the beginning he reverses the rewinding notes as if he was just forwarding time to continue the story. That for me is crazy creativity.
I didn’t even THINK of the reverse guitar thing!!! Ooooooo there’s just so many layers!!! I love it!
Happy birthday 🎉
Happy Birthday! I've been looking forward to you seeing the Tales! It felt like something you would really get, and that the cinematic creativity of it all would really fire up your imagination. So glad to see it grip you, though I hope you had something fun to do afterwards!
Happy Birthday🎉🎉🎉 luv ya❤ and your reaction too😊
Happy Birthday Ian . Fabulous reaction.
Happy birthday! Love the reaction. I think you saw the twist before some people haha🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
“His friends called him Screech, he was quick on his feet” - I always thought it referred to how shoes screech if you move around quickly.
Happy birthday Ian! 🎉
Happy birthday to you Ian! (I am writing this before watching the whole thing through)
I've been haunting reaction channels since I was first introduced to Ren through a Hi - Ren reaction that I got click baited into watching.
I’ve heard this song countless times and watched so many reactions. I really thought I had picked up everything. You showed me that I hadn’t.
Happy Birthday Ian! ❤
Awesome reaction! You looked like I did at the end. Just heartbreaking but so damn beautiful at the same time.
Happy Birthday, fella 🥳🍾
Not going to lie your intro line makes me warm inside lmao. Happy birthday bro🎉
You caught a few things nobody else did.
If you fancy a change of pace, he had some great up tempo numbers: Losing It, What You Want & Power.
They really show off Ren's talent & range
Happy Birthday dude! Hope you have a great day.
YES!!! I have been waiting to see you get this one! Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday Ian!🎂Enjoy your day!!
I am really enjoying your reactions😃 Love the way you break things down and catch things others miss, good job👍 Excited for more! Grüße from Austria❤
The reaction was great. The length doesn’t matter…that’s what it takes. Really I appreciate it.
Happy Birthday
Happy birthday! I'm always very impressed with the amount of detail you pick up. Great reaction!
Cinematographer and friend Samuel Perry-Falvey
I have to brace myself to watch this trilogy, as Violet's Tale always hits me almost too hard - it's the "she never had a chance" up-the-stairwell vocals, after that I'm kind of wrecked. Wanted to hear your take on it, though. Ren's guitar arrangement matches the characters so well, same in Hi Ren with the different guitar voicings for Light Ren/Dark Ren/Whole Ren. Ren is quite the natural actor, as this piece also demonstrates. Kudos to catching the streetwalker implication, you're totally correct. Great reaction, again.
I love that you caught so much of the foreshadowing but the twist at the end still got you!
