This show has so much potential. It reminds me of the animation from The Incredibles but on a understandably smaller budget. What's crazy was they introduce The Book of the Black in Scar's office scene. They could've potentially set up Blackest Night!
Yup! That's actually a really good art comparison! Even then the quality of the rendering is stunning for a TV budget. I wish we could've seen Blackest Night that would've been incredible.
This show singlehandedly shaped my childhood and made me a Green Lantern fan. The comics it takes inspiration from are literal masterpieces. I was so immersed and inspired by the lore, worldbuilding, story and characters....I can't even believe to quantify the amount of influence this show had on me. This was MY Bruce Timm show, not Superman, not Batman, not Justice League, THIS and i'm proud of where i landed.
@@BovineDesigns i started with that whole saga but then i realized that Before rebirth there was the whole Emerald Twilight/New Dawn/Zero Hour era which ties into Rebirth so i read that aswell. Plus, that saga wasn't rebooted with the New 52 so i kept on reading until the end of the Johns era. Also read New Guardians cause i love Kyle and i love seeing the corps interact. I read the end of the N52 era when they introduced Jessica and fell in love with her aswell, then picked it back up when Rebirth came, in both HJATGLC and Green Lanterns and stopped at the end of the Rafa Sandoval era. Next i wanna pick up GL Earth One cause it looks really interesting and people can't praise that enough. Green Lantern is unique in the sense that its lore hasn't suffered a major reboot since Crisis back in the 80s so there is A LOT to read.
OMG! I recently found this show and I love it so much! I need more Razer and Aya!! The way I describe it is Romeo and Juliet in space with lots of action, adventure, humor, heart and existential questions... Lots of surprises in the mix too! Loved your video!
This show and Spectacular Spider-Man are two great shows that ended prematurely. Ironically, both of them starred Josh Keaton who gave it his all in both performances. Hopefully we can see more someday. Great video.
It’s honestly sad that I didn’t give this show the time of day when it was airing. Looking back on it I probably would like it. If my opinion on Young Justice is anything to base my opinion on.
Something very interesting is that, according to the Wikipedia page, Aya actually appears in Justice League Action, and even alluded to knowing Hal Jordan. While it’s just a reference to the show, I like to think they’re the same universe. Helps that Josh Keaton plays Hal in both shows. There was also a concept sketch made of a Blue Lantern Razer, with dialogue implying he found Aya.
I think you would be happy to hear that Razer finally made an appearance outside the show in the recent episode of Young Justice Outsiders. It's basically what the writers thought how the cliff hanger would resolve itself, I thought it was a pretty good watch.
I remember I grew up watching this with my family. It was a great show! Probably why I love Green lanterns actually, cool space cops that make up their weapons!
Babel is my absolute favorite episode. The humor is on point, the character interactions are wonderful, and you get to see just how much these characters have grown as a team.
I agree! It crazy how many people's favorite it is considering how little superpowers are on display. It really shows that the characters and their relation to one another really sold the show.
First, Kilowog’s voice actor also voiced, in my opinion, the best version of Bulkhead in Transformers Prime. Second, the only lantern corps not seen in this show were the Indigo Lanterns of compassion, which were created by Hal’s predecessor, Abin Sur, as sort of a contingency plan for in case the Guardians of the Universe become evil after the Blackest Night event and to reform even the worst criminals in existence
I love how the Orange Lantern core only had one lantern representing his greed in which he wanted it for himself which perfectly justifies the Orange core using greed power.
Green Lantern: TAS is sooo fucking underrated. It really needs a lot more love. If Young Justice got the continuation it deserved, I’m sure WB and DC would be willing to continue BTB and GL:TAS if we showed enough support for them.
I love how he talks about razor or iya as only ever appearing in this show, but then young justice goes and connects the DC universe even more than it already has
17:21 It's so sad that Green Lantern: TAS never had season 2 and season 3, I mean this show was a masterpiece for Cartoon Network, Why don't they understand true action, true adventure, and true art anymore?
I thought everyone had forgotten this show, I enjoyed it so much! I loved it how they made both the different cores and even different ring users distinct in their construct style. That and everything else you touched on
I'm waiting for this to get revived on HBO Max like Young Justice (or new series similar in quality to YJ, this, and DCAU (like a Red Hood and the outlaws series, Flash Mythos series, Rebirth Titans, or supersons)).
Maybe they could make a spin off movie that follows razor trying to get his robo waifu back and that can show us how our favourite characters have been doing in the past few years since we saw them and hal will show up but he'll just be an cameo to part some wisdom on razor and razor is the main character duh and he'll explore a hole the hole galaxy for his love visit never before seen lands and meet new characters like John Stewart and some rough red lanterns and maybe will get a new power up wink wink and the movie would be called razor and the beyond emotions a green lantern the animated series story and it'll be 3d animated and it'll be directed by the original show running cast and yes this sounds impossible to do and would never possible but hey a man could dream and like some people say never say never
I absolutely love this series, I finished seeing it for the first time this week (9 years late lmao) and its is one of the best animated shows ever created, it definitely needs a renewal. I think I heard that they were in talks for it back in January of this year, hopefully it gets to something. Edit: Btw, I just subbed, great content. :D

This show had a loosely based comic published close to the time that young justice came out. It was basically a bunch of one shot stories following the characters with no real relation to the shows timeline but had similar-ish stories. 9/10 for the show, 6/10 for the comic.
This video made me want to watch the show. For some time now I've been wondering if I should give it a try, but man, it seemed like they accomplished so much... and in only 26 episodes? I'll definitely check it out!
@@BovineDesigns Just finished watching! What a rollercoaster of emotions that was! This is legit one of the best tv shows I've ever seen! (btw there's also an episode of justice league action confirming aya is well :') makes me so happy...)
Well my friend, you will be happy to know they have continued the story (albeit in more of a cameo way) in one of the Young Justice show, specifically in Season 4 Episode 19, and boy oh boy was it worth the wait! Have fun looking into that!
I kid you not, I only happened to come across this video, the day before [spoilers] appearance in Young Justice. If it weren't for this video, I would *not* have known the significance of any of it!
According to the YJ timeline: In 2010 (season 1 episode "Agendas"") Hal knows who John Stewart and Guy Gardner are and serves on the Justice League with one of them In GLTAS episode "Ranx" (apparently 2016) he has no idea who they are despite clearly knowing them 6 years prior.

I was so sad when this got pulled as I really enjoyed the story and from what they were doing, it looked like they were setting up for more Lantern story lines such as the War of Light or Darkness Night. Sure the people up top didn't want Sinestro to be a villain, but the scenes we got did a great job at setting him up to eventually turn yellow, they even introduce the yellow ore which counters green lantern energy. Hearing that they planned to axe the show no matter how well received it was makes me wonder if they only did it because they believed that Disney had cornered the market for animation targeted at people older then 8. I mean, we all saw how the writing of Ben 10 fluctuated from season to season with most of Ben's development being retconned back to a more immature, bratty and self absorbed person because they thought that's what the audience would identify more with. With the cast, it was fun watching how Hal had to act like the surprised father figure to both Razer and Aya as if I had to guess, Hal's in his late 20s, Kilowagg is in his's mid 40s, Razer at best is 19 and Aya acts like a child, a smart child but a child nonetheless.
The yellow crystals were a great set up for potential yellow lanterns. Heck that was episode 3 or 4 as I recall. It's entirely possible, although Disney was doing the same thing with their shows, they cancelled the last of their good Marvel shows around the same time CN did.
I loved this series, I would watch each episode of this and young justice as they premiered with my entire family. We enjoyed their take on green lantern, and while we would have loved to see more, the cliffhanger of the end was fine for me. It says that their stories aren't over and they have hope, so more of a bitter/sweet ending for me. Now i feel like rewatching the series
Yeah it wasn't the worst ending in the series. It at least wrapped up the most immediate plot threads. I would highly recommend another watch, I rewatched it 3 times for this video and I still wasn't tired of it.
It seems like they where building up to it (in don't know if bovine mentioned it but in the episode "scarred" while they are in the guardian chamber there is a book eith the black lantern logo on it)
@mystery account I did not mention it, but yes I bet 100% that they were building up to Blackest Night. Heck they were building up to the Sinestro Corps from episode 2 with the yellow crystals.
This show is the definition of UNDERRATED, such a fantastic series, and just in a single season, manage what some current shows are incapable of doing despite lasting more than 5, 6 or even 8 seasons (or how many season that show that should never be mention have), I loved this show, as a long DC fan, and despite Green Lantern was always one of my favorites, was this show that make me wanted to read at that time current GL stories, its sad this show only lasted 1 season and kinda of amazing tackle so many stories and characters so damn well in the spam of just 26 episodes, also a pity both Aya and Razor never got translated to the main DC comics, those 2 characters where amazing new additions at the level of characters like Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya, The Phantasm and so many Bruce Timm and Paul Dini creations. I wish it got season 2, actually now knowing how BAD, Young Justice revival ended been......maybe this was for the better............I have lost the interest on modern DC and Marvel adaptations both in TV and Comics....with the exception of Harley Quinn TAS and DC Super Hero girls, and Peacemaker (and The Suicide Squad) DC have not done much to capture my attention, and the news of new stuff they want to do now just focusing more in Diversity than actual good story telling, just make me less interested in reading comics, kinda sad.
Yeah I'm kind of in the same boat with both of the Big Two right now. I've come to the realization that I already got alot of good out of the companies but they no longer consider their fans to be their target audience.
@@BovineDesigns it gave us what it look like in the universe of Green Lantern and how emotions can be manifested or used to decide what is right and wrong, how you prove that a common rumour or stereotype is not always the case of the race or in this case, the lantern corp, not always blind instincts. Not to mention that everyone can be different and change if given enough time, even for a robot
3:11 - mercy that scene still gets me, done entirely without dialogue but still absolutely perfectly expressing exactly what it needs to. Cracks me up every time.
Im sad that it stopped at 1 season. I would have loved to see them introduce the Indigo Tribe and Sinestro corps, as well as possible do an iteration of the Blackest Night and Brightest Day events, which, in the comics, were what the introduction of all the new lantern corps led up to. Part of me hopes someone revived this show for a season 2 or 3.
Don't know if anyone else caught it, bit the animators little characters coat is (and I'm just guessing here) "The Butcher" aka the spirit emotional animal for the red lanterns.
I remember loving this show. It was what introduced me to the idea of cores apart from green and yellow. And even though it didn't have yellow lanterns, I do remember a yellow material that dampened green lantern powers being used in a few episodes. I imagine if the show had been allowed to continue we would've eventually gotten the Sinestro Core as a new emergent threat as well as an introduction to the Indigo Tribe. I'm not sure if they existed yet when the show was being written, but if it were picked back up now we could even get Black Lanterns as a new major threat and White Lanterns rising up to combat them. Hell, this definitely didn't exist back then, but maybe we could even get something with the Ultraviolet Core from the Invisible Emotional Spectrum, and the fabled Infrared Core that I kept hearing was supposed to exist but as far as I know was never actually made.
I love this show. I was so upset when it was canceled. I still have high Hope's for it to get a revival. The same with Sym Biotic Titan. If You g Justice can return, there's a chance Green Lantern TAS can as well.
So not even a week after you wrote this. The newest episode of Young Justice, it feture Razor and a blue lantern. And at the very end name drops his search for Iya. So soft continuation is better then nothing.
Without this show I highly doubt I’d be who I am today. The first superhero I was ever a fan of was green lantern I watched this show literally every day before school it was like a ritual in our house. I used these pipe cleaners to try and make the lantern rings so I could be like Hal in the episode when he found larfleeze and had a ring on all his fingers. When I went to rewatch it I was honestly surprised at how genuinely well it held up and I’m glad to know I’m not the only person who loves this show
This is by far my favourite iteration of Green Lantern, such a shame it got cancelled. I wonder if we'll ever see it done as much justice as this again.

I was really looking forward to Black Lantern Illana and Razer needing to deal with that.
That would've been incredible! Super sad and messed up for sure
@@BovineDesigns It took me so long to finally notice this reply lol. There's an interview with the Blog of Oa with Jim Krieg and Giancarlo Volpe (both in podcast and article form) that confirms the plan, but it supposedly wasn't due to avoiding censorship, but because they could reuse a lot of the models from throughout the series for a Black Lantern army.
That makes alot of sense
Heck yeah dude, which ones did you read? I'm guessing GL Rebirth to Brightest Day?
Ah man I’m so glad that Young Justice made Razor canon, Young Justice is just such a good show!
I hate you Ulti 😂
@@BovineDesigns Love you too bud😂❤️
Green Lantern the Animated Series was amazing and it deserves a revival
I agree! They could've done so much...
@@BovineDesigns DUDE! watch Young Justice Season 4 Episode 19
OMG! I recently found this show and I love it so much! I need more Razer and Aya!! The way I describe it is Romeo and Juliet in space with lots of action, adventure, humor, heart and existential questions... Lots of surprises in the mix too! Loved your video!
Thank you! I'm so happy more people are seeing this show!
This show and Spectacular Spider-Man are two great shows that ended prematurely. Ironically, both of them starred Josh Keaton who gave it his all in both performances. Hopefully we can see more someday. Great video.
Many thanks! 😁 I really hope so too
It's even more connected of you watch the Young Justice episode called "Encounter Upon the Razor’s Edge!"
And now here in 2022, Razer makes an appearance in Season 4 of Young Justice. To which it looks like they connected it to this show.
It really is!
It’s honestly sad that I didn’t give this show the time of day when it was airing. Looking back on it I probably would like it. If my opinion on Young Justice is anything to base my opinion on.
You would absolutely like it!
@Will N Wow 😯, you did your homework man👍
First time I’ve seen an ad with quality that knew exactly what I wanted. LET’S GO, CHAMP!
Thanks dude, I'm so happy you really liked it!
Razer has finally returned in the latest episode of Young Justice.
Green lantern has always really intrigued me. Forgot this show was a thing. Guess I know what's up next on the watchlist, thanks!
Heck yeah happy to help you rediscover it! Hope you enjoy it 😁
I think you would be happy to hear that Razer finally made an appearance outside the show in the recent episode of Young Justice Outsiders. It's basically what the writers thought how the cliff hanger would resolve itself, I thought it was a pretty good watch.
We did get to finally see that dreamy hair of his…
I love how they’re finally bringing Razor and Aya into new dc projects. Razor in young justice and Aya appearing in the Smallville season 11 comics
I remember I grew up watching this with my family. It was a great show! Probably why I love Green lanterns actually, cool space cops that make up their weapons!
Yah!!! Do you have a favorite GL?
Uhuh, I really wish we got to see them in this show, they kind of just had one story arc in the comics and didn't get used much again.
honestly that shake hands clip is so nostalgic. it got a lil chuckle outta me.
It's really fun 😂 it shows so much about these characters in so little time.
@@BovineDesigns MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY
I love how the Orange Lantern core only had one lantern representing his greed in which he wanted it for himself which perfectly justifies the Orange core using greed power.
It is perfect right? I love how unique each corps is from one another.
This show was created to make us cry in the end.
This show was my childhood. Re-watched it like 5 times. It really shouldn't have been cancelled, same with "beware the batman"
I still need to check that one out, I appreciate that it tried to be completely original and use lesser known characters.
Agreed 😔 it really is a shame, the people who grew up with this show are a testament to the fact that people wanted more
they lied to us
I thought everyone had forgotten this show, I enjoyed it so much! I loved it how they made both the different cores and even different ring users distinct in their construct style. That and everything else you touched on
Yeah! I'm glad you enjoyed it too 😁 the different effects they used for the different corps was a really nice touch
This show deserves a sequel
You can say that again!
I'm waiting for this to get revived on HBO Max like Young Justice (or new series similar in quality to YJ, this, and DCAU (like a Red Hood and the outlaws series, Flash Mythos series, Rebirth Titans, or supersons)).
Maybe they could make a spin off movie that follows razor trying to get his robo waifu back and that can show us how our favourite characters have been doing in the past few years since we saw them and hal will show up but he'll just be an cameo to part some wisdom on razor and razor is the main character duh and he'll explore a hole the hole galaxy for his love visit never before seen lands and meet new characters like John Stewart and some rough red lanterns and maybe will get a new power up wink wink and the movie would be called razor and the beyond emotions a green lantern the animated series story and it'll be 3d animated and it'll be directed by the original show running cast and yes this sounds impossible to do and would never possible but hey a man could dream and like some people say never say never
"Razor never appeared outside of this show"
And then Young Justice happened.
So happy you loved the show! I'm glad more people are discovering it, the first time watch through is special. I heard about that too, personally I'd prefer that over the live action series that sounds like a mess. And thank you so much dude! I'm happy you enjoy it 😁
This show had a loosely based comic published close to the time that young justice came out. It was basically a bunch of one shot stories following the characters with no real relation to the shows timeline but had similar-ish stories. 9/10 for the show, 6/10 for the comic.
Very interesting! Do you remember what the comic was called?
This video made me want to watch the show. For some time now I've been wondering if I should give it a try, but man, it seemed like they accomplished so much... and in only 26 episodes? I'll definitely check it out!
Hooray! That was my goal 😁
@@BovineDesigns Just finished watching! What a rollercoaster of emotions that was! This is legit one of the best tv shows I've ever seen! (btw there's also an episode of justice league action confirming aya is well :') makes me so happy...)
@@daWhiteBAG oh I forgot about that! I need to talk about that show someday.
Well my friend, you will be happy to know they have continued the story (albeit in more of a cameo way) in one of the Young Justice show, specifically in Season 4 Episode 19, and boy oh boy was it worth the wait!
Have fun looking into that!
season 5
I kid you not, I only happened to come across this video, the day before [spoilers] appearance in Young Justice. If it weren't for this video, I would *not* have known the significance of any of it!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😁 I'm working on a review for that YJ episode
I'm sure you guys will be happy to know that razor and kilowog have made guest appearencce in young justice season 4 with their original voice actors
I appreciate that you said guest appearance 😁 most people seem to think both shows now take place in the same universe
@@BovineDesigns because they do
According to the YJ timeline:
In 2010 (season 1 episode "Agendas"") Hal knows who John Stewart and Guy Gardner are and serves on the Justice League with one of them
In GLTAS episode "Ranx" (apparently 2016) he has no idea who they are despite clearly knowing them 6 years prior.
This is one of the best reviews I have ever seen in my life. The extremely cute avatar certainly plays a part in that.
I appreciate it my friend 😁 your encouragement means alot. Are you a fan of the show?
@@BovineDesigns I’ve been watching more of your stuff, and I can definitely say that I’m a subscribed fan now. Looking forward to that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes review.
Thank you! I look forward to working on it again 😂 I now am stuck doing a review for the YJ episode Razer appeared in.
I watched this show a few years ago and i was blown away by the quality worldbuilding and emotional depth. I love to see it get some spotlight! I never realized how much famous talent was behind it, but im not surprised.
It's great right!? Yeah man they put their heart and soul into this one
This aged so well!!! I can’t believe they continued it in Young Justice Season 4!!!
Bro you gave me memories that I thought were forgotten with this video. I thank you for this and hope you get success
Hey awesome I'm glad it brought back good memories! 😁 I hope the video does the same for other people and introduces it to new ones too!
I use to watch this show on Saturday mornings back in the day, good to see people not forget about this masterpiece.
Hell yeah my friend 😁 that must've been awesome to see it as it came out. What was your favorite part?
@@BovineDesigns I was a younger man so watching Hal Jordan (my favorite lantern) kick a$$ and be cool was my favorite part
That must've been nice, he had a rough go of it for a while before Geoff Johns came along

@@BovineDesigns anytime my guy 😎
Props to the great taste in great music; ELO is fantastic!
Eyyyy I'm glad somebody finally caught it 😁 Twilight's one of my favorites by them
Razor found hope in young justice and became a later hybrid, letting his rage be the fuel for his hope
It's entirely possible, although Disney was doing the same thing with their shows, they cancelled the last of their good Marvel shows around the same time CN did.
the show ending on the multiple cliffhangers left makes me enraged
I sure hope it comes back some day to finish up those cliffhangers.
So your going to love the newest episode of young justice
That show slapped it was good as hell
yah it was!
I get the feeling I'm the only human who kinda liked the real life green lantern movie
I don't actually hate it, it has issues but compared to a lot of the stuff Marvel gets away with and nobody questioning it, it's really not that bad.
More people should see this sooo true very good video will definitely share with friends
Thank you so much! I'd really love it if more people saw this show
@@BovineDesigns yea I love this channel already 😊
@@Rice_farmerz glad to hear it 😁
It is the sad fact all great shows are gone too soon and crap shows last forever
Yah... hopefully if we give this show enough love though WB will notice.
MOST PAINFULLY UNDERRATED SHOW OF 2010'S
You can say that again! What would you have liked to see in a season 2?
Imagine how incredible it would have been if we saw blackest night eventually
Right!? There was so many amazing things we could've seen!
I remember watching this, and it was unexpectedly good. Me and my brother can’t stop watching it, and anticipate it
That's awesome! What did you guys like most about it?
@@BovineDesigns it gave us what it look like in the universe of Green Lantern and how emotions can be manifested or used to decide what is right and wrong, how you prove that a common rumour or stereotype is not always the case of the race or in this case, the lantern corp, not always blind instincts. Not to mention that everyone can be different and change if given enough time, even for a robot
@@BovineDesigns so, deep cartoons like these is aight for children
It is now related to young justice as well :)
Kevin Michael Richardson is a legend and I stand by that.
Also he follows me on Twitter and I have no idea why.
What a cool guy 😁 he often gets cast as big characters with deep voices but he's surprisingly ranged like with his Joker in The Batman.
Green Lantern was actually one of my favorite cartoons growing up, I always thought it was super underrated and it got me into Green Lantern
I'm so happy it did 😁 have you checked out any comics?
@@BovineDesigns Yeah of course, I've read most of the new 52 run and the darkest night run.
3:11 - mercy that scene still gets me, done entirely without dialogue but still absolutely perfectly expressing exactly what it needs to. Cracks me up every time.
Yeah 😂 they're a people of very specific tastes
So happy for Razors appearance in Young Justice, and Ayas appearance in Justice League Action
This show deserves a season 2
It really does 😁 what would you like to see them do in it?
I love the green lantern animated series
Good to know there's other fans! 😁
Good
I definitely would love to see this show continued for what I watch of it it was quite good
Absolutely! I would definitely recommend watching the whole thing!
I loved this series!!! I even rewatched recently on Max
Good to know it's still on there 😁
Im sad that it stopped at 1 season.
This, the batman 2004, and iron man armored adventures formed my childhood
Hell yeah friend 😁 both of those other shows rock, I'll have to cover The Batman at some point.
13:50 What is missing is Indigo and Yellow in seasons 2 and seasons 3 of the animated series
Don't know if anyone else caught it, bit the animators little characters coat is (and I'm just guessing here) "The Butcher" aka the spirit emotional animal for the red lanterns.
I'm pretty sure it's just a gorilla, but that's a good guess still! That would be a pretty cool Easter egg!
Hell, this definitely didn't exist back then, but maybe we could even get something with the Ultraviolet Core from the Invisible Emotional Spectrum, and the fabled Infrared Core that I kept hearing was supposed to exist but as far as I know was never actually made.
razor is back babyyyyyyyyyyy can't believe young justice is becoming the DCAU lol
And now Razer is in Young Justice with this story canon to it
I don't think it's completely canon more like aspects are canon to young justice
@baconcat finally, yes you're completely right. I'm making a whole video about how it can't be canon due to evidence from both shows.
@@BovineDesigns & now Razer is in the comics
I love this show. I was so upset when it was canceled. I still have high Hope's for it to get a revival. The same with Sym Biotic Titan. If You g Justice can return, there's a chance Green Lantern TAS can as well.
I still need to check out Sym Bionic titan. I hope we get this show back too, what would you like to see in a season 2?
So not even a week after you wrote this. The newest episode of Young Justice, it feture Razor and a blue lantern. And at the very end name drops his search for Iya. So soft continuation is better then nothing.
Thanks for making this video
I'm happy you enjoyed it 😁
This along with silver surfer cartoon were way ahead of it's time
Without this show I highly doubt I’d be who I am today.
