I’m an amateur vintage spinning reel collector with almost 400 reels in my collection. It is probably less interesting because they are not as old. I am legally blind so spinning reels are all I can use. I have a few very early (1940s) spinning reels from France that show evidence of hand machining. This was a fascinating interview. I am a member of ORCA but they are rarely much help to me with spinning reels because they are rarely older than 75 years or so. Thank you for this video!
Penn reels are made in China now just like everything else. I live a mile from the old Johnson Reels factory. It makes me sad that they sold out to a conglomerate that moved production to China and proceeded to take a good product and run it into the ground. Thank goodness that the early production Johnson reels were so well built that many of them survive to this day and are readily available.
I had an old (mint condition) Reel with it's hard leather case years ago. I sold it in a garage sale when I got married and I think It was a Juliet? I could never make out the name. Just wondering how bad of a mistake I made by selling it and the big takle box full of old lures( hula poppers and such.

I found a Shakespeare light deuce No 1910 model FK, with cotton line. I wondered about the line- I’m trying to find a demonstration of it.
