Hello Erika, just a thought but it might be harder for your kid to cut the carrot because the area is high for her and forces her to lift her whole arm, thus loosing strength in it...I'm certain it would be easier if she could either gain some height with a stool or smth, or do it from a lower point (the former makes more sense :) ). *Back to enjoying the video*
Ditto!!! It’s physics, she doesn’t have the leverage . . . ALSO! The knife is at face height, incredibly dangerous for any of the kids (knife or ingredient bounce back, etc). Please get a lower work surface (the table?) or a stool to put them at a better height.
Erika, what a beautiful way to honor your mother! Sure, the celery trick. But what I really mean is another generation of a meaningful mother-daughter relationship. A lasting legacy. ❤❤❤
Love this recipe. I used to make bone broth in a very similar way all the time, but haven’t made it in a while. This makes me want to start making it again.
This was such a sweet video. Your daughter will think of you every time she fixes soup the way you've taught her. And, yes, celery keeps roasts etc off of the pan, and adds flavor to gravy. Blessings to you and your dear family.
I had a friend when we were about 8 years old, she told me she learned how to make chicken noodle soup. I was so impressed and asked how hard it was. She said easy! Just open the can pour it in a pan and add water.
I think making homemade chicken noodle soup and ESPECIALLY bone broth are two major Adulting Goals. I hereby declare I’m going to use your recipes to make both.. someday lol. Why am I so scared to bake a chicken?! 😮 Thanks for another easy going, excellent video and so glad to see the kids involved! ❤ Thanks for being you!
Loved seeing your method for making this! After researching different methods and recipes, ive turned into a bone broth freak! It's SO good for you and very soothing to the gut! I make it and then fill it up with all kinds of veggies. My mom loves it and can finish off an entire pot by herself.
Good to see you. I am vegetarian so the soup making was not my favourite part but seeing you working with your daughter and teaching is always fun to watch. Thanks for another video
Don't forget to teach her to curl her fingers under so they don't get cut by the knife. You were so good with her. Stepping in when it was harder. Her smiles said how much she was enjoying learning how to cut carrots. I love my freezer bag holders. I am writing down all the recipes, but I am pretty sure that even in an air-conditioned house, I will not be making any of them soon. It was 97° today, and I live a mile up.
We have been saving all the cut off fat from our chicken and veggie scraps in the freezer and finally made the broth this weekend in the pressure cooker only did it like 2 hrs and we still ended up with tons of fat cap when it got cold (i was shocked and happy, since it wasnt much fat ir cartlidge at all, and was only a few hrs)
I've just been learning how good bone broths are for the microbiome in the gut - there are all sorts of health benefits in broth - besides the obvious yum yum factor.
Deboning chicken makes the back of my hands itch, and hamburger skeeves me out. I get the big boxes of medical gloves at Costco, and use them whenever I need to deal with either of these. They last a long time, but they really help me get it done.
Don't scrape off the fat! It has been a lie for decades that "fat makes you fat." Our brains need good fat. And a side note, our body actually cannot process dairy without the fat in it; so low or no fat dairy products are not good for us.

Agree. The surface needs to be nearer her waist height, so lift her up via a suitable stool or find a lower surface.
I was just coming to the comments section to say the same!
The “I’m doing it!”, with the squeal of glee. Also the best. 😍

I loved the Teachable Moments with your Daughter!!
I am 66 years old, and have been cooking since I was about 15 years old; but I still enjoy hearing your tips!
Your herbs are so healthy!!!!

Basic survival skills are good to learn too, right? 😉
Tricks I did NOT know are both the bed of celery stalks and cutting the hole for the legs to go into. 👍🏻👍🏻
Love watching you working with your daughter
I learned a lot on how to teach my children 😊

That soup sounds delicious. I have never actually heard of bone broth and was surprised at how long it needs to cook. Thanks for sharing.
There is something about soups, that everybody just craves, more so as we age, I think. We slow down enough to enjoy the soups.
How much do you want to bet that you’ve decluttered the rack? I like the celery idea better! ❤❤

Great job Rebekah! These will be skills that will help you for your entire life! 😊 ~Mrs. C
Soup looks so delicious and tasty that I wish I was there to have some.
Yum. Loved watching this morning. 😊
I just don't worry about the tucking or tying the legs. Thanks for showing the trick. ☺️
We got nylon knifes for kids so much less stressful. Or get that anti cut glove
For dairy free ice-cream i do a blueberry lime and coconut milk ice-cream, its delicious, you could try googling recipes with coconut milk x

Why wld u scrap the fat off?....thats literally all the nutrients and the whole reason for cooking for so long.......

a step stool would really help, it's much harder to cut from the angle she was. It would be easier if her elbows weren't up that high.
Rebecca is adorable 😍
Just always enjoy hanging out with you 💕how was the sorbet?

Beautiful relation with your daughter Erica ❤
I enjoy all of your content. But the thumbs up on today's video goes to Rebecca for her excellent carrot peeling and chopping.
the best thing that ever happened to humankind is SouperCubes
I never skim the fat. It's the best and healthiest part of the broth.
😊
