    ORIGINAL VIDEO:
    • Tyler The Creator And ...
In this video we go over the confusing definition of freestyle rap and what Tyler The Creator thinks about it.
From Tylers interview I share 3 freestyle rap tips you can learn to add to your skills.
These tips will help you rap better overall and help you freestyle better as well.
    The first tip is to...
    1. Get weird: Its important to let your mind go crazy without censoring yourself so you don't get stuck while freestyling.
    The second tip is...
    2. Don't lie and tell people you're freestyle rapping off the top when you're not.
Its better to learn to freestyle rap off the top for real so you can be ready for anything.
And yes, it is possible to learn. Use the first link at the top if you need help with this.
Learning to freestyle will also help you with your songwriting and make it easier for you to flow lyrics in the moment.
The 3rd tip I've made famous online because everybody is using it now haha.
    3. You don't need to rhyme every line. I show an example in the video where Tyler is not rhyming for a few lines and eventually he finds a rhyme and starts rhyming again.
It's best to let the rhymes come naturally and they will as long as you keep going and don't freak out and stop if you mess up or haven't come up with a rhyme in a while.
Your brain naturally wants to rhyme so keep going and the rhymes will come.
ps. If you can't rap and freestyle like a pro yet, use the link at the top of the description.

Dude, Tyler wasn't "confused", he was RIGHT. Call it what it is.
Fakers who couldn't flow off the top outnumbered people who could, and changed the mainstream accepted definition. Plain and simple.
If you got caught calling a written a freestyle back in the day, you'd get CLOWWWWWNED.

Bruh ppl were using written freestyles in the 90s too and even early 2000s. If you look back at the freestyles Flex was talking about alot of them ended up on songs i.e. The Lox, Mase, even the G-Unit shit he was talking about. The only example I can really think of when somebody was going off the top on the radio was the Jay-Z and Big L freestyle where L was using writtens but Jay-Z was actually off the top AND ppl say Jay-Z got killed cuz of it. And that's in 1995. Eminem used to mix freestyles with writtens during his battles. Big Tigger would always go off the top too but hardly anyone on Rap Basement ever did.

Good video this, I liked this perspective, When i first started to try and freestyle about a couple of months ago, i used a lot of prewritten rhymes but now im starting at the complete start, i just start freestyling a random story in my head if i'm by myself or like watching TV or playing xbox by myself so i got the subject in front of me, the only problem i have is that i repeat the same words a lot + i stutter and + my head forces me to rhyme when i'm trying not to

It's actually both, to freestyle was off the top and people would also do a random written. Freestyle Fellowship is all about off the top non rehearsed rhymes when at a radio show with one of my favorite groups WU-tang Clan they were going off top while WU was spitting prewrittens. When I came up freestlye was off the top. To do it at a level of Krs-One or Myka 9 or even Snoop Dogg is a valuable skill.
