At 5:35 old GREEN jacket wanted to decrease his chances of landing his fish by giving it an " EXTRA JERK " LOL... Tell him he's not alone I've been guilty of the same in the past. Funny to see others making the similar mistake. LOL.. Great Video.

Yea he also stopped reeling too :\
A sure fire way to lose a fish is to stop reeling to see if the fish is still there lol

I'm not hating but I've caught a few kings in the Ocean this year and a some in the river system, there's a big difference in terms of quality and taste. Does anyone feel the same?
Ocean salmon= meat was super red and very oily
River salmon= less oily and meat started to turn white

Those fish don't look like they'll cut nice...

DeltaProMaster Lauj As soon as those fish hit the fresh water again they start to change the meat starts to turn white and they start getting ready for the spawn. I know here in Ontario when the fish are in the rivers long enough they go black and lose their silver look.

None of those fish look good for human consumption. Can't believe he's keeping them.

DeltaProMaster Lauj Hey , how's it going, I've eaten Salmon all over the west coast, CA, Oregon, and Seattle, Ocean caught and Feather River caught, my family has been eating Steelhead and King Salmon form the Feather way before Oroville Dam was built, My Boss in San Francisco one day asks me, that Salmon is the best eating Salmon I've ever had ( a millionaire mind you) I replied I've noticed the same thing,( You said it yourself, ocean fish is very oily) I think it tastes so good because it is 143 miles from the Ocean, in that time they consume body fat, I think that's why they taste so good!
Of course they were fresh up spring run, , I've got 45 years fishing the low flow of the Feather, 27 lb, Steelhead my PB, 47 lb on Salmon, I've battled fish in the 60 plus range in the 70s, One time during high water big fish combination, owner hooks were breaking, and gamagatsu's were straightening, go mustad. Best steel.
