- The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Atlanta. This place is mind blowing on the details. Over 106,000 cubic feet of Italian Carrara marble. Over 34,000 hand-carved pieces were shipped from India and put together puzzle style.
That is one amazing place.
+Wilma it absolutely blew my mind. The inside was even more amazing as well.
Not actually Atlanta. But close
Still.. It's my home town of Lilburn GA. Glorious beauty
It is amazing. But yeah not Atlanta.
Just got back from Atlanta I wish I had known that was there. Thanks Andy
+Edward Spitzer while I couldn't record the inside, the inside is even more amazing than the outside. Thank you for watching
Holy crap that's like something out of Indiana Jones!
+Yukendoit as amazing as the outside was, the inside is even more detailed. However since it is a working shrine they don't want people recording on the inside. I can completely get behind that. The funny thing was I wear shorts all the time and they don't like bare arms or legs. I had to wear a special scarf tight around my waist to hide my legs. Whatever the material was would not keep the knot so I am walking around holding on to it to keep it around my waist. Literally struck speechless on the inside by how much work was done.
Absolutely stunning and in Atlanta, USA!
+Hildy K. This place absolutely blew my mind.
It would definitely be worth the trip to see from where I am, 2 - 3 hours maybe.
When you go, make sure to have long sleeves and long pants. They have a scarf kinda thing to cover your legs, but it didn't want to stay tied together when I went inside. Also inside you need to take off your shoes. I would go to Stone Mtn. too as its 20 minutes or so away. I did a two part video on whats there in November
random video recommended to me.! Let me let you a philosophy of Indian temple : God/ultimate reality lies in detailing. You are amazed by just temple carving but have took look at natural world around you every detail of nature. Indian Temple is inspired by natural detailing in nature....Esthetic importance is just byproduct.
I agree. Nature is amazing. I didn't know that about the carving. Thanks for the info.
