I love that this is the sort of game where a really cool egg challenge can be foiled by the Mountainhome having a complete monopoly on the world's supply of eggs.
Your narration is on point, bet you're a riot to hang out with. Have you ever encased any entities in obsidian? I'm envisioning a Han Solo type scenario using lava instead of carbonite. Either or, I appreciate the time and energy needed to create these snapshots into the workings of your ~~mind~~ Dorfs and hope you continue to enjoy making them. Cheers!
Great video! It always stinks when the game just won't cooperate with a challenge run. Still, props for ending the fortress in a fun way. Also, oh, you're Australian? I am terrible with accents, so I had no idea.
All your projects inspire me because they show me what's possible and what to aspire to. Currently I'm just doing simple challenges such as my current one which is "build a farming fortress that must have a thriving wool, egg, cheese, and alcohol industry, a fully funtional water mill (I figured that's more dwarfy), a farming related guild, a tavern to exhibit all the alcohols of the fortress, and a mayor". I may have had the idea whaile playing Stardew Valley.
Videos are amazing, they recently just released an update with experimental multithreading!!! absolute leap for the game and would love to see some massive scale fortresses with cool stories from you!
Congra-dolences on your latest adventure. Getting breeding pairs of cave crocs or jabberers is usually an optional goal in my forts since they both produce leather etc with a 4x multiplier. You can trade for 5x usually (elephant/rhino) but it's not guaranteed or self-generated so I keep an eye peeled.
I always kill my forts when I am done with them, the thought of those greedy little dwarves being able to use something that I forced them to make for me is just unsettling. So typically I make them all die of thirst, but if they in an aboveground fort I will collapse it on them.
This is why you steal from traders, there's no for sure way to know what animals they will have but you can steal livestock that way. So if they happen to have egg layers this helps the goal, and if they don't you then have to wait for the next one, though eventually mass stealing makes them no longer show up so that method seems pretty well balanced.
Dont make a goal - just make one fortress and play - all happy/only warriors/one dwarf challenge/ice/lava/desert scenario/ theme - wax only, hounted bione .. GLHF!
Yesterday in my game there was a military dwarf who has killed like at least 15 creatures out of which 2were ant people , 1 troll and 6 humans ...he killed 3 humans alone in one fight , there were 5 humans and he charged them alone the rest of the military arrive there when he already killed 3 so Al i am saying he was the strongest dwarf out of all and yes They were heaving steel Armor and weapons..... Later on that dwarf went berserk and killed his whole squad and some regular dwarf it was heart breaking to see that

Elephants take way too long to grow up for me to ever want to use them as livestock.

Yeah,.. sometimes you're just down on luck. I probably would have dug the deepest hole I could.
You can see if your crocodiles (or dwarves) are gay using the dfhack mod. Just type "gaydar" on the command screen
Turn your background music down. Your voice audio isn't high quality enough to push past it.
