I'm getting the impression the deputy was texting while driving, that's probably the cause of the crash. Because the reporters said he sent a text to his wife, she sent a text back saying that's great but he never received it, so it sounds like that is the moment he drove into the lake.

@@karinaz8756 This is something that could have been avoided had the incompetent cop not been trying to text his wife at the same time trying to contact dispatch(as stated by his boss during news interviews). Why was the man at home when he was dispatched? How does someone drive past rumble strips, warning signs and STOP IN BIG LETTERS? The cop had been living in the area for 2 years not two months, he had the job for two months, let's get that straight. Who takes two lefts after 2 miles coming over a bridge and doesn't expect to be heading back towards the river?? They claim there were skid marks from the cop trying to stop, I have looked at all the footage and aside from markings from trucks pulling and putting boats in the water I see no dark lines that indicate such a thing. Someone has even stated the cop was rushed to be buried, not sure if that's true but they live right there. Was there even an autopsy? Was there a toxicology report?
Will the dash cam and body cam footage be released if there is any, or will most be redacted , blurred out, etc.?

This appears to be the old ferry rd. Back about 30 years ago there was a boat ferry across the river. It was scheduled to replaced by a bridge. Coming from the east side, you rounded the corner and there it was! Not much room to stop. If they had removed the signs warning about the ferry ahead, and had left it open. It would be easy to drive right into the river. GPS might not have given a warning. It's likely that the officer didn't see the river until he was already in it! It's very deep, and the current is strong there. This is why every police officer should be familiar with the territory they are in !
