    Thank you for taking the time to make the nock and serving chart..,
    I'm not new to Archery, probably been behind the string for close to 20 years off and on. I just recently started with a recurve and I guess I just got lucky with the proper nock and string because I haven't had any issues..
    But I recently picked up a Diamond SB1 Compound , and then that's when I started having issues after about 100 or so shots. Everything was going well with my SB1 until I got some very expensive arrows.. I guess the nocks on them were not of best quality even though the shafts, fetching, and tips were all pretty good. It's funny bc my old PSE which I've been shooting since 2005 I never ever had a single slip so I rarely paid close attention to that area of the Bow.. With Compounds and hunting it's all about your sights, compactness, power, broadheads and of course stealth.. Until I had a arrow slip off my serving point yesterday causing me to dry fire and shooting my peep sight into oblivion I didn't pay super close attention to that area. I paid enough attention to make sure I was getting a good fit but not to the detail you provided..
    Sorry about the long ass post..

    Hi Ashe,
    many thanks for your videos. They are still up to date! I have 42,5# on my finger and I use Beiter PinNock #1 on BCY 8125 with 21 strands and an Angel 0.015" serving.
    Beiter wants a stringsqueremeter of 2,70mm or 0.106" for the Beiter #1 nock. I checked that out and think, it's too strong. Therefor, I unwax the strands in the area, where the nockposition will be and put the Angel 0.015" serving verry strong around the strands, to get 2.45mm stringsqueremeter at the nockingpoints.
    B.t.w., I use the easy nockingoints and fix them with some superglue.
    Since I build my strings I never needed to rebuild one.
    Take care and stay healthy!

    The sound 'doongg' is similar to the sound of my nock as I pull it from the string. My nock fitment is correct; I guess so. The thickness of the center serving is very important to me. I have used various servings, from budget prices to bcy 62xs and powergrip. So far, BCY PowerGrip is the best serving thread.

    Great video. I needed to watch this. I have been having problems with different nocks. Crazy arrow flights from some nocks, perfect flight with others... Same arrows, different nocks. With some nocks, I can fix the erratic arrow flight by moving the nocking point up. Probably not the correct way to do it.

    Hi Ashe. First of all I would like to thank you for all the great content you are putting out, it's helping me no end. Regarding the nocks, mine pass the tests except for the tapping the string. No matter how hard I hit it the arrow isn't coming off. I use Easton small groove on recurve string. I'm a bit sceptical to go to large groove nocks as I've heard these are for compound. If I pull the string back about an inch and loose, the arrow does detach ok. Also I've heard regarding nocks, it's important to knock that like button. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  4 роки тому +1

      Hi John! Good point, for the Easton ones they do fit a bit differently to the Beiter. The best way is just to loosen the fit slightly on the other tests, so there might be a tiny bit more 'play' than you would expect with the Beiter, but then it gives a better all round fit. It's just because of the shape of the ears of the nock and how they're different between the Beiter and the Easton ones.
      The nock fit guide should help with this too :)

    Easton. But will probably swap to Beiter in the future. Another (and I in my humble opinion better) way of making tighter nock fit is to use a thread seal Teflon tape under the serving. This way you can accurately tune the nock fit using on size of thin serving and don't have to buy multiple (quite pricey) spools to get the nock fit properly. Another benefit is that thin serving is obviously lighter, and you can put the tape just under the nock so you get tiny bit less string mass. But that's probably negligible difference.

      @@OnlineArcheryAcademy While on the topic of serving, a question has been on my mind for a while and I don't know if you've mentioned this before, but:
      I've seen some people at competitions (and those on the GB national team) shoot with strings that don't have any serving at all on the end loops and they claimed it made the string sit flush and was generally "nicer" on the limb. They did have serving on the centre part of the string, however.
      What would you say about this?
      Or perhaps it's another video idea :D

    Hi Ashe, I shoot Easton pin nocks size2, used to use Beiter no2 and the cotton reel, as with normal serving, and Beiter nocks if I came down from full draw, when I drew up next the arrow would pinch off the string, hence change to Easton nocks, which don’t do this, have you any thoughts on why this would happen, with the Beiter nocking point they stayed on, is it to much wiggle room? Keith

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  4 роки тому

      It sounds like the nocking points may have been too close together with the Beiter nocks and squeezed the nock off the string - or the fit was slightly incorrect which made them come off.

    So, I’ve been trying my old Beiter pin #1 because I want to try overnocks for outdoor season. My nocks fit all of the guidelines in this video, but I’m having a weird fit issue. When I let down I discover that my nock has started to come off of the string. This doesn’t happen with my Easton pins and the Easton’s are slightly looser by comparison.

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  4 роки тому +1

      That is odd - are the nocking points definitely not pinching the nock? If not, then the only explanation would be that the Beiter No.1 are slightly wider than the Easton nocks so when you come down you might be moving the Beiter nock with your fingers? Let me know if this helps :)

      @@OnlineArcheryAcademy push-in g nock for acc, g pin nock for ace/x10.... Supernock for xx75... I mainly shoot acc arrows
      16 strand string 8125... Can't remember the serving material.. It was a little tight but not overly tight
      I'll double check the fit tonight on the pin nocks and compare with your chart
