    Christine, I know you won't see this but when you talked about the writer problems tangent it made me feel so relieved because I have been having so much trouble with thinking of an original story. I have been thinking and thinking of what hasn't been done before. I was literally so invested in this one idea and I scrapped it because I thought it wasn't original. I may have to get the idea back out and continue to get the plot on paper. Thank you for helping me realize that the story I wanted to write is original because I am different. I needed this and thank you!

    Christine you are such a massive inspiration in my life. I first started BookTube after discovering your channel. After hearing you talk about your college experience studying film, it pushed me to dare study film which was what I always wanted to do and I am loving it more than anything. I find constant inspiration now more than ever in your content. I am really proud of you after following your journey from the start of your book. My main struggle has always been feeling that my story isn't good enough and that no one will want to read it. Your writer problems tangent was exactly what I needed to hear to maybe feel confident enough to work on my own novel. Thanks Christine :)

    I totally get what you were saying! As I'm writing my book, I see similarities between other books as well. They're usually tiny bits to the story that seems similar to things I've read in other books and it has been a bit nerve-wracking because then I feel like my writing isn't original and all people will see is the similarities to other books. I guess it just important to remember that you're writing first and foremost for yourself and not to censor yourself for what you think other people will see in it. Thanks for that pep talk and I hope your 5th draft goes well!!! :)

    • @likelylili7216
      @likelylili7216 7 років тому

    I loved this video, and the tangent you went on, it made so much sense to me. I worry about if anyone is going to interested in what I'm writing because it will feel like something they've already read, and therefore won't be captivating. And when you're doing something so personal like writing (especially a book like mine that's based on my life), and you know others will see it, that just heightens the anxiety & the stakes

    I love hearing how your book is coming! Also, thank you so much for everything you said at the end there. That is seriously my struggle.
    I took 2 weeks to outline 38 chapters and loved the story. Still do mostly. Im only 4K into it and worrying about all the similarities I see, not just to other books but even TV shows. My world is similar to another world, the technology is too similar to ANOTHER worlds tech, my character is too similar to a character in yet another world. Ugh.
    Anyway sorry to rant. I just wanted to say thank you. You're the most positive person I've ever "met" and you always bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. Thank you so much!

    The Writing Videos are back! I missed these so much and now I get to watch them again! I hope your book is going well! I am currently going through my hope to be last draft, but I don't know considering it's at 160,000 almost 150,000 I am hoping to get it done before I go away for vacation so I can put it away and relax but right now I'm taking my time. (When I spoke to you about this at BookCon it was 170,00) Thank you for the writing advice at BookCon, it's helping so much! You are awesome! I agree that it is hard and the uniqueness thing is so true! I am so worried it sounds like Harry Potter (I was told this at my conference but they liked it) It's still original and everyone loves the concept so that's good! Good Luck with the Book Christine, you can do it!

    I've been writing/plotting out a book for the past six months, and your "writers tangent" is sooooo true. I'm struggling to see past exactly what you were talking about right now!

    I finally started the second draft of my book today! It's like a whole new beginning and I'm excited
    (I got frustrated before getting halfway through it bc I wanted to edit so much already, but then I only had bits and pieces I wanted to keep and I didn't like that so I kinda lost motivation to actually write, but today I had a breakup and I needed to do something productive and distracting with the feelings so I ended up writing again)
