'It's the first time i saw Karl smile in India'.................we are still waiting to see him smile in the UK 😂😂😂
Hundreds of times. Interviews and you can here him laugh on xfm
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek , you should check out a book, it’s a little long but worth a read, it’s called a dictionary, you should check out the page that defines sarcasm…:) JJ Jill..:)
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek It's. A. Joke.
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek Hundreds? Mmh...
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerekYour name checks out
He hates everywhere he goes 🤣.
He hates change and doing anything, not helped by Ricky and Steve making it as unpleasant as possible 🤣🤣
Karl is brilliant. And like Ricky said in the intro, he wants Karl to hate it so he’s always sent to the poorest parts of each country. They always cut out the parts he said he really enjoyed also. And as you may have noticed he’s not impressed by much😂💙🏴
Exactly 😅👍✌
When you said, 'Don't do that' to Karl, for cheekily spanking the guru, it's one of the reasons we love Karl - the authentic life that he is. I think the guru and others knew they had met someone who is beautifully genuine person..
Totally
Namaste, I'm Scottish, my uncle lived in India, he said he had never met a more welcoming, hospitable, friendlier people. He only came home for the holidays, family occasions and to go to a few gigs, Oasis, Bowie, Dylan, Guetta...etc, lol. He passed away bout 10yr ago, in the place he loved, India 🤘✌🙏🙏
That Indian carrot pudding dish Karl had is gorgeous. Recommend people make it, there’s quite a few Indian ingredients you may have to get online but it’s worth it, love from the UK guys.
I'm British from Scotland and I want to say I love you two. I always love Sikh people. Sikhs are the real warriors of India, they fought with us Brits and they fought alone. I love Sikh people. Real warriors. And forgetting that you guys are ok
Karl's always like that, don't take it too personal. And Ricky deliberately gets him to do things he knows he'll hate.
Ignore any negative comments from Karl lol. The idea of the show is to put Karl in some really bad situations! And he doesn't like leaving his comfort zone. He goes to India again in season 3 and he loves it! SwarmiG was such a lovely guy!
I think the idea of this is to show the hard life in countries, there are wealthy and stunning parts in India. Every country has it's expensive lifestyles and then poverty. Same here in Ireland with homelessness and then there is so much wealth.
"this is even weird for us"🤣
I love how Karl bends down for the smallest kids to rub color on him during the Holi scene. Even though he was miserable.
What a great reaction, loved it guys. I wouldn't worry about karl not liking India, theres very few things he does like haha
I enjoyed this. Thanks. Don't take Karl's reactions personally. He hates everywhere. He even hates London even though he's lived there for decades. Ricky and Steve plan his activities and they deliberately choose things that they know he won't like. Most people who watch this understand that. You two are super charismatic. For the record I'd looooove to visit India. Interesting and funny channel :D
I think you guys took Karl's little doc on India very well. I think the Indian people are cool. and I've always loved the music ever since George Harrison basically brought Ravi Shankar to the west.
i love how chaotic india is but the people make it, they’re all so friendly
This was a joy to see the reaction of Indians to Karl's adventure. Thank you :)
Brilliant reaction. I love watching your reaction videos. India looks lovely. I worked with a very nice Indian lady, and she was telling me that you can tell between the poor and the more richer people, which is sad. However I would think its the same all over the world. She did tell me there are many parts of India that are beautiful.
33:30 Using cow dung isnt alien to us Brits. Here in the uk our traditional building method from before we used stone bricks involved a wooden latice we would apply a mix of straw and cow dung and mud to. In my area we have somewhere that all the local kids go on educational trips to try it out and visit one of those old style homes that still remains.
We also used the pats as fuel but also we made fuel from peat bogs. You cut a square of the bog out and let it dry and it beomes a brick you can burn like coal.
Karl has a inquisitive mind he loves strange and unusual so loves the elephant baba, karl is funny and dosent even know he is which why ricky loves him,it's amazing karl started out fetching and carrying in Ricky's radio station and ended up Ricky's producer, but the more Karl's hates the travels the more Ricky loves it
What a lovely couple you are. Karl Pilkington certainly suffers during his travels and we all love experiencing his misfortune. Glad you enjoyed the show too.
Ricky sent him to the bad places on purpose 😂
I love this reaction. I’ve seen this episode a few times, but the best comment I’ve heard is, “You won’t understand India in a few days.”
He goes to India 3 times more than anywhere else. In the moaning of life to a wedding.
They have this color fest in America too in some places. SLC had a big Indian population and they had color fest when I lived there. ❤ very fun!
Thank you for the reaction! This was great =D Love seeing people react to Karl. Would love to see you react to the other episodes as well =)
I really loved this episode because all the people were so full of life. I know Karl loved the holy colors ritual, the babas, the saint he spent time with...he really Loved the Tah Mahal. I hope you recognize he got ill and the culture shock of how some poor people live. I know India isn't all that, but instead a very interesting place of vibrant people and deep spirituality. I hope this program highlighted that and not just the problems. For me, I would definitely go visit. Incredible place!
I just got home from India for the first time and I absolutely loved it. Loved watching this reaction with you. i got to experience Holi and the Taj and all the amazing food and craziness of your county. I’m home now in the US wishing I was still there. It’s beautiful and the people, like you two, are what made it so special to me
Really interesting watching you guys' reaction to this - you add another layer of richness to my understanding of the culture. Cheers from Ireland !
This episode makes me laugh and makes me want to go back to india. Went a few years ago and managed to avoid sickness. Love the culture it was an amazing trip
I love that series. He’s hysterical!
Holi Day looks like such an absolute, amazing blast! Never been to India, but it seems so vibrant and interesting! I think even Karl enjoyed many parts of it. He had a very wonderful impression of the people, even when Ricky did his best to make every step uncomfortable and difficult for Karl. I know he really loved the religious festivals and time he spent with the saint. Even though this show showed the poverty and getting ill, I think I would definitely still go visit. So it's a legit travel show and a practical joke at the same time.
Don’t take Karl too seriously, Ricky and Steve make it as bad as possible for him! He loves his home comforts and he hates change! Btw, as an Englishman, I would LOVE to come and visit India!!
She is super cute 😉❤
Hi.to you both from England. First time came across your channel. Keep the video's coming.
Karl complains about everything. He gives a few compliments at the end, which from him shows he liked part of it at least.
Love your channel :) I really hope you react to season 3 when Karl goes back to India with Warwick Davis
Should just watch the full series. They'll get to know Karl better
Awesome!
you two are lovely human beings. hi from ireland.
Ricky Gervais on purpose sent Karl to worst parts of India makes more funnier with Karl being grumpy
Brilliant ❤
Jay Hind 🇮🇳
❤️ from Scotland.
I'd love to see him go back without Gervais booking the experience 😂
Karl hates every place he travels to, that´s the concept of the show. A travel show with a negative guy that complains about everything. So don´t take it personal, he´s like this in every episode, no matter which country he goes to :)
Karl is my godsent,
He and his content helped me so much while I was going through a bad life phase, now I sleep to him and Ricky Steve every other night
The fact her biggest laugh was at "favourite wife" was a bit cute! 😂
Visiting India was the first foreign place I ever went to and it was the best country ever!
Yeah don't take it personally. Ricky and Steve put Karl in the worst hotels and make him travel in the worst areas. We understand this is not a true reflection of the best of India.
Namaste mera dost
One of the best things about this video was that you could laugh at Karl not enjoying India
Even though you could tell he enjoyed some of it.
Please react to The season 3 India episode of idiot abroad. He likes it much more.
He goes to India quite a few times during his tv shows. He almost got an arranged marriage in his show Moaning of Life… he must like India enough to visit it again after Idiot Abroad😊
My Grandfather was very sad to leave India in 1948-9. He spent the rest of his days bemoaning the fact. He asked to be cremated & his ashes thrown in the local river. Said he'd swim back to Ganga from there.
Yah, Karl always hates being away from home and Ricky likes to make it miserable for him haha
I’ve never been to India, I’m not exactly built for it (I’m from the UK and I’d probably last 5 minutes in the heat). However I love the Indian food and I could live off some of the Indian curries and stuff I get here.
Indian TV is brilliant, we love it, Sivajii the Boss is one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen (Raninikanth is probably the coolest old guy in India). Then there’s Shaktimaan which I can’t get enough of, Houseful and also that series with Manvii as the main character (in English “My Sister is 1 in a million”?) that one is so innocent and adorable.
There’s been lots of cool places I’ve seen in all of these too. If I went there I’d love to see some of the rural areas and mountain temples aswell as trying different curries. Holi looks really fun too and I’d make a fuss of all the animals there too of course (that’s no different to anywhere else I go lol).
Karl was a lot happier his second trip to India. Mainly because he was in the less poor areas
Just a few minutes in. Well... I agree that not all Indians use Indian style toilets anymore, and not all Indians wear kurta pajamas on the daily... Buuuuuut, it IS something that happens in many parts, and I don't think it's anything to be ashamed about.
Also, fun fact, squatting IS actually better for your digestive tract, than sitting with a newspaper. There are places that now recommend people to use a step, or a stool (no pun intended) to place their feet on when sitting on a Western toilet to emulate the squatting position. You're also supposed to do your business quickly and get off, sitting on the toilet for hours with a paper or your phone can lead to developing hemorrhoids. And I'm not going to try explaining washing vs wiping with a paper. (Bathrooms with western toilets in India are mandatorily equipped with hands-sprays/handheld bidets. Otherwise it'll be a mug of water for Indian style. Water washing is mandatory, paper is just an extra)
Also, the plain white cotton kurta and pajama is a very good attire, suited for the hot Indian weather. We do things the way we do, for reasons.
The show is very funny, but when reacting to it, taking some time to pause and explain a few things would be great! Just my 2 cents. 😊
This was inspiring. Tomorrow I'm going to covent garden, doing a hand-stand and shitting down my own back. I'll be a Guru. 😂
25:28 🤣
I would love love love to visit your country.
India would be way to much for me because it looks so chaotic.... I would need to have a guide to make sure I don't mess up and also so I could experience the street life culture and the amazing historic culture.....
Karl is Ricky’s favorite toy.
Did she say the baba's are always high?
It's the Gujarati methi dishes I love, that and paneer. I used to live in Leicester, England and I swear down that city beats everywhere in the UK for curry. People talk about London, Birmingham and Manchester for curry, Leicester beats them all. Proper Gujurati cooking and oh my god, you find that....none of those dishes are particularly hot, it's all about the ingredients and flavour-balance. They can go hot if you want, still the best chaat I've ever had was from AJays on Narb. Rd. Banging hot but full of flavour and texture. And if things go too hot too fast, boom, they got fresh raita ready to rock, son.
The Idiot Abroad series is really good! Karl has lots of fans. You should watch the other episodes. The first episode is China
To be honest, if you guys enjoyed this type of show, I personally recommend Paul Merton. He did two series - "Paul Merton in India" and "Paul Merton in China". For each country, he did a whole series of episodes on it. Personally, I find his style of comedy a lot funnier and a lot wittier. But that's my personal opinion. So if you guys want to react to his series, I think you will really enjoy them. :)
That's the thing about Karl, he's not a comedian, he's just a very particular, eccentric, person. He looks at things and understands them in a wholly unique way. Much of the time Karl isn't even trying to be funny.
@@FuckUA-camAndGoogle Fact. To be honest, when I watch Karl sometimes I wonder what his childhood & teenage years were like to think in such a different way. His parents, his environment ... etc. Also when people say he isn't trying to be funny, but I do think it's the way he was brought up that everything has to be said or thought of in that distinct British mick take, with a very dry sense of humor that it became the norm for him. Idk, I could be wrong though.
@@hazzaldo he had a pet magpie that used to pop the tyres on his bike and peck his little head, the girl next door had a mam who was a witch, a family nearby had a horse walking around their living room, two kids at his school had big heads and webbed hands, a spud-headed woman lives in the area, his uncle was covered in tattoos that he did himself and slept in a rubber dinghy as he liked sailing, they all grew up near a chemical plant and one of his school mates now lives in a hole underground etc etc.
We know Karl is genuinely just being himself as we gradually heard him come out of his shell on "The Ricky Gervais Show" on XFM radio. He was just supposed to be a producer that worked the mixing desk and played the records.. but Ricky and Steve found something bizarre every time they'd talk to him. So they switched to mostly just talking to Karl. You can find the radio recordings on the "Man Moth" channel
PS: I love Paul Merton too, and his travel programmes were also great 👍
I was actually goi g to try and find your china video just to say how interested I was to see this reaction.
It’s a lot like the China episode. They aren’t going to send him to the most well developed prosperous areas that are most similar to the West, because it’s not interesting. They’ll send him to places he finds strange where they eat foods he thinks odd.
Karl also did another series called The Moaning Of Life. In one episode he goes back to India 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 enjoy
In eastern europe and russia, halva is something completely different, no carrots involved and it's not a pudding. More like a very sweet and brittle candy bar.
My brother was a cameraman and went all over the world. India waa his favourite place
Karl got sent to some fancier places in India on his second trip, but there is no cure for his grumpiness.
I always wish India would build the black Taj on the opposite bank of the river in a mirror image, like he originally intended
Don’t worry guys, none of us think Karl is the authority on India!
karl Pilkerton is so depressed that he could give depression depression 🙈😂
Karl does revisit India in the 3rd series.
Keep in mind this was 13 years ago. They're not trying to make India look bad.
Rick and Steve always throw him in at the deep end on these trips. Of course there is immense beauty in India too but where is the fun in that? They want him to be miserable and to experience hardship as that makes better TV.
im seeing you also do movie reactions, you should react to the movie "the english patient" it even has sikh charecters
Fantastc reaction.! Subscribed.
Im a chinese Living in The republic of San Marino for more then 20 years and recently became a sammarinese citizen.
So please do reaction videos of geography now! about San Marino and italy. ❤️
Oh no. Indians are now speaking with an American accent. 😮
What?
I've been to India, during Holi, and loved it.
Please don't take it personally - Karl hates everywhere he goes, and that's kind of the point of this show. He's a naturally miserable person and loves to moan about things - always seeing the bad side of every situation. He also hates change and doesn't like going out of his comfort zone. But yeah, put him in any situation anywhere in the world and he will find something to moan about - it's not just India I promise!
When someone has an honest glow; and you only want to kiss them. This channel is more beautiful than most people understand or realise.
He has since been back again and he admitted he actually loved it the 2nd time around and loved the people
Episode 1 is pretty entertaining too. Karl goes to China and has to eat toad.
I dont know if it was after this time or the next time he went to India he said it was his favorite country out of all.
8:30 😂🤣
'My Gord!'
80 % of India is poor so its an accurate description.
hilarious
Only fools and horses turban crash helmet 🇬🇧😊😊
she's so beautiful
If you think the wealth gap in huge in the US or the UK...go to India. Anyone who even makes it to the middle classes moves out of India.
I can’t comprehend how that guy woke up one day and decided to wrap his Willy round a stick and try and snap it off 🤔
I live in England but I am poor, I do have a passport. I hope to one day visit india. I watch channel 'Bald and Bankrupt' tour India, and this is is what i want.
for what its worth we know indian isnt all like this and theyre purposely putting karl is uncomfortable jarring situations for comedy. much love from ireland.
Davrum a vaguely Indian name.
Dave Rum an extremely American name.
When Karl Pilkington went to America he was still the most intelligent person there!
Karl doesn't enjoy anything. That's just his personality and why it's funny.
I don't get how Ricky calls Karl small minded. He will go anywhere and talk to any person as an equal.
Well, Karl can't be too stupid.
He's Ricky's Producer...
Its hard to tell when they are just finding the worst places for him to stay or authentic places that indians would use. I wouldn't mind ultrabasic , but not ultra messy smelly crap
