The A-10 was made to be bale to fly without half of a wing without an engine and with half a tail it is the definition of badassery
How to play games DevilDog style in three easy steps:
-Be REALLY fucking serious.
-Panic a lot
-Pretend to be a badass afterwards and pretend you weren't panicking throughout the entire time you where in combat
One of these days our paths are going to cross in DCS. Going to test out if AA mavericks are still a thing on you.
They fly on the S77TH server sometimes so just come fly with us and youre bound to find them

generally anything made by Eagle Dynamics is going to be good. I don't have FC3, though. I've got A10 and huey
DFX2KX So true, why the USAF says the F-35 is a better platform is crap. You know if the fuel is too warm the F-35 will not start so they had to paint the fuel trucks white to counter act this problem. The A-10 is a purpose driven airplane, it can take a beating like BRADY SCHROEDER mentioned and keep on going. Talk about protection here is a copy about the protection the A-10 or the tub has.
Cockpit
The single-seat cockpit is protected by all-round armour, with a titanium 'bathtub' structure to protect the pilot that is up to 3.8cm thick. The cockpit has a large bulletproof bubble canopy, which gives good all-round vision.
The cockpit is equipped with a head-up display, which is used for targeting and weapon aiming, a Have-Quick secure radio communications system, inertial navigation and a tactical air navigation (TACAN) system.

Lockheed Martin has begun delivery of 21 USAF A-10 aircraft with the embedded global positioning system / inertial navigation system (EGI), which pinpoints the exact location of the aircraft. The aircraft are also to be fitted with BAE Systems terrain profile matching systems (TERPROM).
The pilot is equipped with night-vision goggles and also the infrared imaging display of the Maverick AGM-65.

Marcus Padua That's I thought at first but then I looked at the text on the control panel and it was normal.
We had a super hornet land without its wing once. Two of our planes collided, one went down, the other lost its starboard wing. The systems on board the jet countered for it and adjusted so the pilot was able to land. He was pretty shaken up. Both were okay.

Elites Engineering Well it is very hard to tell right from left when your paying attention to a game and this game needs more attention than most games
xXTheawesomesXx Yeah exactly, you need to pay attention. If you're going to tell someone that there is an enemy on their left but they are actually on their right that will get yo ass killed. and simulator* not a game :p. I play DCS as well.

The video is reversed, that's why he is saying left, but on video it is the right.
Over 7 years after this came out, I'm not ashamed to say I keep coming back to watch this because it just makes me laugh. This is classic DDG (incase the intro didn't tell you it's a classic)

+Derek John if you download the Open Beta from the dcs website it's a new version of the game called 1.5 which uses a new engine and looks great

Sometimes Fraps records images flipped, He could have seen his left wing on fire in the game but in the finished video it appeared that his right wing was on fire, guess that's what happens when you don't check Fraps before recording.
That's why you use dxtory to record ;)

I remember doing some reading, apparently the A10 can still fly with all sorts of problems that'd be considered fatal to other aircraft. One of which included a dead engine and a missing wing...

Hey Devil Dog, ProudSailor here. The A-10 was actually designed to stay aflight with have of a wing, half a tail elevator, or half of both.
An Israeli F15 flew with one wing and he didn't even know it until the wingman said his wing was gone after a collision with another plane. ua-cam.com/video/AJ76BSassms/v-deo.html
There's a reason why turning back to the runway is called the impossible turn. Of course, incoming fire makes things even more complicated.

The A-10 is a beast. it can lose a wing and an engine and still get the pilot home. I mean in real life not in the game. they built it to take everything the enemy can throw at it then ask for seconds.

i read in a magazine that the A-10 was/is capable of flying withe half of it's one wings gone and/or one engine knocked out and/or one tail section destroyed. not sure that if the aircraft is capable of flying if all these problems occur all at once but its quite durable if not hit critically.
Devil, you need to press the fire extinguisher discharge button, to the right of the engine fire levers, in order for them to have any effect.
This games awesome a-10s are know to have been able to fly with only 1 wing and the put that in that just made my day

I bought this back in April and still have really played it. I really need to buy a joystick I have Trackir & rudders that I use in ARMA but after watching DCS videos looks like I am about to spend $200 more lol

I have a question: is Flaming Cliffs 3 the same game as DCS World but with some planes already installed? Because I see so many dlc types in the steam store that I'm confused...2 types of A-10 Warthog dlc, the base free to play game, and the Flaming Cliffs 3 that seems to be the same game but with more planes...

You cant just pull the E-handles.. you have to hit the discharging agent switch to the right... it can be used twice.. once toggled left and once toggled right...

Devil I liked it but why did t you eject when you lost your wings and if you did why didn't you show us that part? Really you can think we don't want to see what ejecting looks like.

You keep flying A-10's and the Frogfoot really high. They're meant for low altitude CAS missions.
10,000-15,000ft is a nice altitude to use the A-10 at, of course you would drop down for guns but for using mavericks and GBU's that altitude is ideal.
Valkyness true, that IS the altitude for using AGM-65's, EXCEPT that Mavericks aren't what a Wild Weasel would use against a Air Defense Battery... a Wild Weasel mission would use use a Anti-Radiation Missile (ARM) to seek out and kill a air defense batteries radar sets using, if NATO, AGM-88's, ALARM's, or AGM-45's, and if Ruskie, anything from AS-16's, Kh-25's to AS-11's. And they'd either do a low flying mission, as low as possible so that SAM's have trouble maneuvering to hit, or speed into range of their ARM's before firing them and returning to base.
Yes but thats if the A-10 is operating as SEAD. If the terrain was ideal for blocking line of sight then yeah, flying low to the deck is what you would want to do. But if its open terrain like all of the cases in the video, then it would be better to have a higher altitude so that you could get an earlier RWS warning, get sight of any con-trails and be able to evade in an ideal direction.
If there is lots of AA over a massive AO with flat terrain then the A-10 shouldn't be there in the first place.

really want to get this game but I have a few questions since I don't have a flight stick yet.
-can you move your head freely like in Arma if you are using all M&K controls?
-can you throttle up and down using a key bind or must use the in game cursor?
-can you pitch and roll using wasd or mouse? which one if not both.
Since I don't have trackir or a proper joystick in Arma I would control with mouse for precision flight but when I needed to look around a lot I would 2x alt and look with mouse while using WASD. Can I do something like that in this game?
Yes, yes, and yes. HOWEVER, this is a VERY accurate simulation. Flying the A-10 with a keyboard and mouse is not recommended. Like seriously.

I did it once. I managed to circle the airfeild, touch down, and take out a Huey on my way to kissing a cargo plane in the face with my burning wreckage. I was proud.
