Also happy for one of my best friends who is a Stars fan who I’ve watched the Stars break his heart the past handful of years especially in 2020 when they were defeated in the Bubble Cup Final our freshman year of college when we were stuck in our dorm and all we could do was watch hockey. "Georgiev was the best player on the ice in the first period" Ed Olczyk. How about the guy who burned the "best defenseman on the planet" and his goalie for a short handed goal? We will probably see alot of big changes for the Avs this off season. Honestly as sad as it is, I won't be surprised to never see Val in the Burgundy and Blue again. Can game 5 be over already? There was really no excuse for that performance in game 4. The only excuse I think the Avs can make is Val's Announcement came so short before the game started that they couldn't really set up their mental game around not having him. Doesn't matter though, play bad and you won't win. They don't hand out the Stanley cup, gotta earn it.

I dont understand how people dont see the elephant in the room. SMH. Sure, nothing cant be taken away from Dallas. They are good. But... they are not better than Avs. Those teams are pretty much equal. What Dallas has for them is Coaching!!!! and Goaltending slight edge. Coaching is huge. That is where it is evident by how Dallas just not rattled and playing their style with structure.
Avs, on the other hand, no adjustments on PP when Dallas figured the PP out after game 1, dumb penalties in game 2, including unforced errors, two many men penalties, stupid decisions. It has been no adjustments since game 1. No motivation, no leadership, no grit, no fight.
R u telling me it is not on coaching? It is obvious that the coach's message not getting through and he has lost the locker room. Mac, Makar, mikko no show in all the games. Mac skating off the ice 30 seconds before the shift is over in game 3? Short handed goals in two games now, zero effort. This sort of lack of focus, attention to detail, and mental toughness is not on the coach?

How is Dallas better when Avs players dont even bother to show up? I would admit they are better if the games were competitive. What we have here is Avs are not in the games mentally. They dont even compete.
Game 1and 3 was the only game where the Avs brought it when it comes to competition. No show games 2 and 4. Inconsistency, dumb decisions, no desire to compete is where they are way below Dallas. That is coaching, lack of leadership plain and simple.

Avs have been streaky all season long. So that this continues into the playoffs is no surprise. But tonight's performance. You can just tell when a team isn't mentally there. Some here seem to think that losing a player like Val Nichushkin can be compensated, that it shouldn't be a big deal. Well apart from the fact that he has been our best goal scorer this post season and apart from the fact that he is our only genuine power forward, it's not so much about his absence physically, but what his situation does to his team mates mentally. In this sport, like any sport at this level, you need to be laser focused from beginning to end, before the game, after the game. This latest episode is just a huge distraction and that was plain to see for the full 60 minutes.
Would the Avs have won with Val in the line up? Maybe, maybe not. But you wouldn't have had the distraction of an important team mate failing a drug test and taking himself out of the game yet again, this time perhaps permanently.
