I was extatic when I heard from my brother-in-law Chris that he had picked you up from the airport to give you a ride to the island! He is the head landscaper on the island for Jack's company! He was the one who worked on that property and put in all the slag and the waterfall! So cool that he got to meet you😄 It would have been awesome to see him and his team get recognized for all the work they did on the property for Jack. Maybe next time you visit you could film his team working on a project. That would be awesome 😀

Oh my goodness!!! This one was not long enough, at all! I was just getting started and it was over!
To see what can happen in just one year (and a short growing season with harsh winter weather) is so amazing and encouraging! Plants are so forgiving and adaptable! When I see many of the same plants up there that grow in my hot dry climate and they flourish in both circumstances is, simply put, another way that God shows us how we can bloom and flourish wherever He plants us, too!
God's beauty, tweaked with work and wisdom He has given us, is breathtaking whether in plants or people.
Question... Do they use horses to help with moving and placing some of those large rocks? I'm sure they use them to haul it all around on the island but I know they can be helpful, as well, along with the "Egyptian methods". I'm from Texas and we have no problem using oxen and horses and whatever we have to help us with our work.
Wow! you can't say much more, these cottages and the surrounding property is just gorgeous. So much beauty, amazing how it looks like it's been there for as long as the cottage itself. Jack and his crew are amazing, they have created something so totally amazing that takes your breath away. Check out a video he did on Brigadoon Cottage. Make sure if you watch you check out the oldest video first. They had a huge fire at the cottage and the gardens were destroyed. Now a year later the cottage is rebuilt with the gardens. Amazing the rebuild after the devastating fire.
Another beautiful house and garden. Lucky people who get to enjoy these properties.
All the flowers, especially the hydrangeas, look so much better on Mackinac than in my yard. Jack definitely has a green thumb!
Jack should take video of the installation of his beautiful landscape transformations. I would love to see the construction of the stone walls. I looked on his website and he doesn't have many pictures in his gallery. I love listening to him describe his design ideas.
I am impressed with the dry stack stone with random boulders splitting up the long spread. Very nice design👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I have been on the island and seen him working. He is very hands on working along side his crew. Probably doesn’t have time for videos or pictures. i don’t think he under stands just how good he is. Best designer i have seen here in Michigan.

That guy is a genius! When I was listening to him explain the bench-height wall and the "meadow" plantings on that slope, I was thinking, "yes, that makes perfect sense!" It all just makes sense but I never would have thought of it myself! Hence, his genius.

Been to the island many times. Great place to visit. I grew up next to the family that owned Rya's fudge.

This cottage property is even more stunning than Lilac Cottage. That view over the water is a bit of heaven. Love the natural wild look and those huge pots with the hydrangeas are gorgeous.

These are truly amazing gardens and landscapes! Those water features are simply spectacular! I love that the water is treated with people and pet friendly beneficial bacteria. Jack Barnwell was a wonderful tour guide, I only wish I would have been in that group who were able to join in the tour with the two of you.
