- Welcome to another Thursday episode of the Cabin Build Series. In this week's video we were able to achieve lots of progress in our Tiny House. We installed the exterior front wood deck and started the exterior front fascia trims. These two details, combined with the sleek black metal skin, give the overall design a whole new depth, making it feel very close to be finally completed. Who said an off grid house build with your own hands couldn't look modern, well designed and being on a budget ?

You guys are so right! Go and build something yourself people! Especially all women out there! Don't always think: 'oh I can't do this, my husband can do it.' You can do anything! You will get more confident with every little finished project. It's so liberating to know you can do almost everything yourself.

Again another great episode. I have one tip that may help with future simple floor layouts like the deck. Find the centerpoint and start your layout from there. You can center your deck board on the centerpoint or center the space between deck boards on the centerpoint. Your final boards against the wall will now be the same width. Planning to visit Portugal in August to look at properties. I may end up buying your plans.
Hi Jason! Cannot wait for you to start your dream project! We thought about splitting both side boards, but did not like how it looked. It was just 1/4 of board on both sides. So we opted for having a complete one on the main side, the one you always see when accessing the house, and 1/2 a board on the other end that you mostly don’t see!

Hi Pepe those Planks with all the wood knots in it I would not put them in a high traffic area because they are weak and they will break on you in time!
Hi John, it is very hard to find quality wood around here (my experience At least) this wood is for outdoor decking and it should be enough, not much traffic on a 16m2 house :) but yeah I wished they had less knots! See you next Thursday!

The house is coming a long nicely! Can you keep the sentences you post up through out the video up a little longer? I find I am not reading them fully because they are taken off so fast. The words are really small maybe make them a little bigger?

The z door frame is wrong the steel should be on the other way down exterior to top interior, if it was wood you will have for sure problem steel dunno if it is the same.

You mean the cross member of the door? If that is the case, it is right. You need to support the bottom corner further away from the hinges.

I really do appreciate the work put in here. And that you do a good job on it. And that it is easy and cheap.
But, IMO it is really ugly and I would never build something like that. So many other ways to do it at same budget with very little more effort..
The most important though is that it is your choice and you like it, you are going to live there. Fortunately I am not.

I love your creative videos, you are a lovely young couple BUT now you have told the world where you keep your precious tools and have build the not so secure tool shed right near the road I am not psychic but expect the next video to be a sad one as your tools will have been stolen, PLEASE keep them somewhere more secure, the world is not such a nice place, unfortunately we learn by experience 🤍😶
